Jean Posted March 9, 2014 Posted March 9, 2014 Loved the albums. I just wish they received more attention from the mainstream and that Dos and Tre got more music videos (and really... the only Tre video has Twilight shit in it?).
Guest Posted March 9, 2014 Posted March 9, 2014 Loved the albums. I just wish they received more attention from the mainstream and that Dos and Tre got more music videos (and really... the only Tre video has Twilight shit in it?). The mainstream only picks up on albums for at least one of 3 reasons. 1. They tap into the current socio-cultural zeitgeist. 2. Heavy and good quality promotion. 3. They're really fucking good. Unfortunately the Trilogy fails on all 3 accounts.
Tubbie Head Posted March 9, 2014 Posted March 9, 2014 It hasn't finished yet I don't think, but for me the trilogy itself is just a fantastic set of albums, I really enjoy them no matter what everyone else says. But the "era" has had it's ups and downs, for sure, it was a bit terrifying in the beginning (or middle) because of what happened with Billie... But after that, I feel like Green Day has fully come to life again, with a better attitude, and great energy that just makes me very happy! The trilogy era gave me the opportunity to see them live again, and it was the best show ever, I felt so proud of them, I had so much fun, loved being in that crowd, loved the setlist, and of course the band and their smiles! Most perfect 2 hours and a half.
Cath Posted March 9, 2014 Posted March 9, 2014 if i would be 10 i would probably love the trilogy because to me it's kinda childish. (no effense to those who likes it btw) thought i loved to hear some of the songs live, especially rusty james which was pretty rad!
JOE THE X-KID Posted March 9, 2014 Posted March 9, 2014 I really think the 'Trilogy Era' was really over before UNO even came out. It started with all of the secret shows, where the band was having a blast writing, demoing, playing new songs for people. The era kind of had a loose, never ending summer kind of vibe and that was awesome. I wish I could have seen one of those secret shows. Then the era ended in September 2012, after that I really think it was something different, but that's okay. I think it's kind of interesting though, because the arc of the trilogy is really- party, out of control breakdown, reality/recovery. And the band actually went through the same type of thing. Life imitating art. it is actually weird how the band ( Billie) went through exactly the same thing as the, kind of story of the albums
AngelBlue_ Posted March 10, 2014 Posted March 10, 2014 it is actually weird how the band ( Billie) went through exactly the same thing as the, kind of story of the albumsI don't think that's weird..Billie writes about his life/his emotions so it's kinda normal.. But it was "scary" reading lyrics like Lazy Bones or Amy when Billie was in rehab.. and I have to admit,I really hope the next album will include the songs he wrote during his rehab..that'd be interesting to read.
That Dude Posted March 10, 2014 Posted March 10, 2014 Loved the albums. I just wish they received more attention from the mainstream and that Dos and Tre got more music videos (and really... the only Tre video has Twilight shit in it?). Don't forget the X-Kid music video. 3:42 of a cassette tape rolling. AMAZING. Here's all the music videos from the Trilogy: Oh Love Kill The DJ Stray Heart The Forgotten X-Kid It's really sad, we should at least gotten three or four more singles/videos. Oh well.
beejeezee Posted March 10, 2014 Posted March 10, 2014 The albums were great. I felt like more of the songs should have been played live. From the setlists on setlist.fm, they just played the same few over and over and over. Also, they hardly played anything from Dos!. Dos had so many good songs, it's a shame they didn't get played more.

Sean Davey Posted March 10, 2014 Posted March 10, 2014 Probably one of my favorite Era's, I feel that what happened at IHeart did have a really negative effect on it as that's all some people can associate with this era. Loved pretty much every single track especially Stop when the red lights flash, Lazy Bones, F**k Time, stay the night etc etc. Shame a good chunk of the tour was cut out (The tour didnt come to Ireland) But overall nothing but great memories of all the songs.
stich Posted March 10, 2014 Posted March 10, 2014 I feel really connected to this era; my 2012 it's my worst year ever (my grandma died, my GD's show in Bologna was cancelled and other personal stuff going worse); but my 2013 and 2014 (for the moment) was the happiest years I've ever had (the 28th March - the same exact date that 99Revolutions Tour started - I've to meet who's now my bestfriend - and my soulmate - for the first time) So I feel ljust like Billie: 2012 meltdown at iHeart, 2013 come back from hell. Also I feel connected to a lot of trilogy's songs, and I've seen Green Day live for the first time in Muilan. Not the best era, but the one that made me fan ever more.
eileenblue Posted March 10, 2014 Posted March 10, 2014 To be frank Tre is the only one I really like from Trilogy, but I'm quite happy that I saw Green Day for the 2nd and 3rd time during this era. One major complaint about this tour is they haven't played enough songs from Trilogy, especially in Australia.
tubbyfox Posted March 10, 2014 Posted March 10, 2014 I thought the novelty would have worn off by now, but I still have Tre on repeat in the car so I have to say it's in my top three GD albums (I still separate Uno, Dos and Tre just because). And, hearing Missing You and Brutal Love at Emirates - best moments ever!

And, hearing Missing You and Brutal Love at Emirates - best moments ever! I still have Tre on repeat in my car as well. Brutal Love, X-kid and DRB are my favourite. It's in my top four GD albums. It would be better if they could change their King for a Day / Shout routine during some shows and add in a few Trilogy songs.
Anaïs. Posted March 10, 2014 Posted March 10, 2014 Pardon me? Why the laughing emote? Because I couldn't find a laughing GIF on mobile. Dos isn't quite as bland as Uno, but it makes up for it by being a complete faceplant.
The Disappearing Boy Posted March 10, 2014 Posted March 10, 2014 I'll be happy when Green Day does something unrelated to this era, so it can be consigned to history. Poor for them personally. The iHeart incident put the band's future in jeopardy more than any other incident in their history and we're lucky they've come out of it. Or at least are on their way out of it. I always got the feeling they did the last tour by way of apologising to their fans. They felt they needed to do something for them, which is something I can respect. But it never seemed like they were gonna do a massive world tour, they know most of their fans are in the US, Europe and Australia - that's why they went to these three places. Musically, it failed for me. Uno is the worst Green Day album for me. Dos is slightly better, but I don't really know why. Tre is by far the best, with a couple of exceptions. If the Trilogy had sounded like that, it would have been great. Roll on their next project, whatever that may be.

Jirachi Posted March 11, 2014 Posted March 11, 2014 I think if they just took the really good stuff from the trilogy it would be an absolutely amazing album. If it was just something like Nuclear Family Kill The DJ Fuck Time X-Kid Little Boy Named Train Dirty Rotten Bastards Let Yourself Go Ashley 99 Revolutions Carpe Diem Oh Love Stray Heart 8th Avenue Serenade Sex, Drugs, And Violence it'd be great! But as a trilogy, they are kind of meh to me. Not good but not horrible.

I like it how it is, if you like it all great and if not you can take your pick from the 37 songs and make your own custom shorter album.

We all have a different view on what are the best songs of the trilogy.
IcyMoffatt Posted March 11, 2014 Posted March 11, 2014 The era started well. It got ugly with the iHeart incident. Then the band did its best to come back from hell. In other words. because of Billie's rehab, the trilogy era didn't go the way it was planned before iHeart. The trilogy wasn't the best GD work, but it wasn't the worst either. I like it, but I didn't love it. Thanks to videos uploaded on Youtube, I know the band still played very great shows at every venue. But not so many songs from the trilogy have been played live. Wasn't the tour supposed to support GD's new material? Also, GD didn't visit all the places the band normaly goes to while on tour. Anyway, the trilogy era is made of ups and downs.
