So its Warner's fault the singer is in treatment and cant do the promo the albums trilogy? Oh ok...

No, but they could at least release and promote the singles right. This would be happening even if BJ was fine. Uno or any of its singles literally got no promotion on iTunes whatsoever, and now Stray Heart isn't even on the store.

You made me laugh. Adeline Records!! It's not for big band like Green Day. U r out of ur mind.

I wasn't being serious. I said "they may as well," like, sarcastically. I obviously know that would never work.

Green Day on Hopeless Records could work :)

Promotion can only go so far, the interest of the general public is another thing. Even if Warner went and plastered the albums everywhere, if the public's not interested, then the public's not interested, and there's nothing that the band or Warner or whoever can do about it.

I agree that the promotion has been a little sub-par, but at the same time, it's a tough spot to be in, given the circumstances (the fact that its a trilogy, Billie's recovery, ect). I think one big mistake about the marketing is that the albums got marketed as a trilogy (like, all 3 albums together) so much that it's hard to focus each separate album (hope that made sense). Like, I feel like the promotion should've been done equally for all each album when it came out, rather then push all 3 albums at once.

The itunes thing i can see being a problem and I'm sure it'll get fixed soon...

The getting on CSI NY and escp with the song being featured in the Twilight movie and soundtrack is great promo for GD (regardless how people here feel about Twilight the movie and sndtrks are HUGE market that has potential to bring alot of new fans and new sales)

The Angry Birds stuff and othet stuff ehhh whatever may bring in some new fans might not bad thing with marketing music and movies is there's really no sure thing like doing promo that pays off for one album doesnt mean it will work for the next album

I know other say leave Reprise but GD can never be an indie band again no other label would give GD the freedom Reprise gives em they could find investors and get a distributor for thier own label but running a label even if you have a team is VERY stressful and very time consuming

I downloaded it onto my ipod earlier after getting an email with the mp3 from my box set order and I totally listened to it full blast while attempting to doing the charleston alone in my room. No shame.

and they wonder why we illegally download music... because its not in the fircken store!

Hopeless <3

Promotion isn't really that bad, since a lot of things was cancelled cause of Billie's rehab. But it could have been done better.

And for Stray Heart, can you buy it on other places besides iTunes?

What I find really weird is that greenday.com hasn't said a word about Stray Heart being released as a single. Sure most of the people who visit the site are fans that probably have found out one way or another but still, an official site should definitely promote new songs.

anybody heard of this?

If you listen to it, you'll have heard of it too

why doesnt warner/Green Day promote the singles at all? How are the singles gonna get successful (which i think they want them to) if there's no promotion?

Edit: like people said in other threads; they're probably saving it for Tré!

I wonder if there's something in the contract with regards to the trilogy being classed as one album (I'm sure Billie said in an interview that the record company are only classing it as one album) that means itunes, etc can't promote anything until the promotion of Tre begins?

I don't know why else it wouldn't be on the home page under new releases/pre orders and why Radio 1 would go to the trouble of getting exclusives and then not adding the songs to the playlist.

I know it doesn't really make sense because it's hurting the record company as well to not promote their own albums but maybe it was part of an agreement that if they want to let out this many songs the trilogy will count as one release so itunes can't add anything to the home page until nearer the final album release (because all 3 parts of the trilogy make up this 'one' record)

Ignore me, I'm talking nonsensical bollocks as usual because I want more Green Day love in the world.

Yeah, that's obviously true ;)

But... you can't buy it anywhere, nor is it on radio. Who exactly was it released to in the US? If it's just the box-set people...
