Femme Gauche Posted September 26, 2012 Posted September 26, 2012 She delivered that with a shocking amount of emotion. It felt like I was watching a funeral. Thankfully I was not. AT one or two moments I thought it looked like she is ready to cry, but not having seen the rest of her performance I think it is just as likely that is just me reading my own emotions into it. Although the performance was definitely emotional.
July21 Posted September 26, 2012 Posted September 26, 2012 That's a really sweet way to show her support, she could have done one of her songs but decided to do this cover, great! i think she played one of her songs earlier cause jimmy kimmel said "once again, alanis morisette". anyways, it was a great gesture!
Marlee Posted September 27, 2012 Posted September 27, 2012 I've always liked her music and her voice. I really liked it
gerardsangel4977 Posted September 27, 2012 Posted September 27, 2012 She delivered that with a shocking amount of emotion. It felt like I was watching a funeral. Thankfully I was not. My feelings exactly.
spark in the night Posted September 27, 2012 Posted September 27, 2012 whoo damn if Alanis was going to cover Basket Case that is how it would sound lol couldn't imagine it any other way. It was....interesting. Very nice of her...just not used to hearing a slowed down BC Loved the ending.
Slappypunk Posted September 27, 2012 Posted September 27, 2012 Okay. I loved her and her music when I was a kid and still do now and it's pretty thoughtful and sweet of her to do that but DAMN Basket Case is not meant to sound all depressing like that.
*withoutadoubt* Posted September 27, 2012 Posted September 27, 2012 i think she played one of her songs earlier cause jimmy kimmel said "once again, alanis morisette". anyways, it was a great gesture! Ah, I didn't realize that either. I thought this was her only song - thanks for pointing that out.
gerardsangel4977 Posted September 27, 2012 Posted September 27, 2012 AN audio file of this would be much appreciated
AndrewW91 Posted September 27, 2012 Posted September 27, 2012 That was beautiful! I'd love an mp3 of this.
Guest Posted September 27, 2012 Posted September 27, 2012 I've never liked her voice, but that was a really awesome thing for her to do. Bravo, Alanis.
Guest Honey Emerald Posted September 27, 2012 Posted September 27, 2012 It ticked me off... Here is why: 1. Billie Joe cut that song short to do his rant at the iheartradio festival. 2. She made a quick laugh after saying " We Love you Billie Joe." 3. He is in rehab and the song says "or am I stoned." It was a poor choice in songs to cover.
Soroush Posted September 27, 2012 Posted September 27, 2012 I knew her before and had watched her on TV but never listened to her songs. Now I'm her fan. This performance moved me. I got devastated when GD's performance was canceled but after watching this I feel great now. AMAZING......
yuan Posted September 27, 2012 Posted September 27, 2012 Aw it made me choke up, I think it's interesting that Billie stopped before "so I better hold on". I think you were right, Billie, get well soon.
Lore Vlees Posted September 27, 2012 Posted September 27, 2012 i've never listened to her before, but was an awesome cover. We love you Billie Joe
Ritz Posted September 27, 2012 Posted September 27, 2012 not a big fan of the cover but yeah some parts made me sad. Well, it was nice of her to do it.
SixtiesJunkiie Posted September 27, 2012 Posted September 27, 2012 Horrible cover, but it doesn't matter. It was purely genuine and THAT was beautiful in itself. The simple "we love you Billie Joe" at the end- ahh, killed me.
Dai. Posted September 27, 2012 Posted September 27, 2012 I love Alanis, but do not quite agree with the song choice. The cover is too slow, too 'peaceful' for the lyrics of Basket Case.
Sika Posted September 27, 2012 Posted September 27, 2012 I thought it was beautiful and I cried but put it down to pregnancy hormones..
gdpony Posted September 27, 2012 Posted September 27, 2012 I can't stand her, and I didn't like the cover, but this was really sweet
Soroush Posted September 27, 2012 Posted September 27, 2012 I love Alanis, but do not quite agree with the song choice. The cover is too slow, too 'peaceful' for the lyrics of Basket Case. Kind of agree but It's still awesome
localinsomniac Posted September 27, 2012 Posted September 27, 2012 That was a beautiful rendition, and a very classy gesture on Alanis' part. I wonder if she and her band already had that in the holster, or if it was arranged/rehearsed in the few days between iHeart debacle and the Kimmel appearance?
Tooooooooooooom Posted September 27, 2012 Posted September 27, 2012 If you think about it it is maybe not that strange, they both became popular in the 90s and have some iconic angry/punchy songs for the decade. And Rob Cavallo produced some of her albums I think? Don't know if this has already been said..... I actually thought the cover was superb.
stories and songs Posted September 27, 2012 Posted September 27, 2012 I think this was such a sweet and classy thing for her to do. She did a great job with the song IMO, but even if some didn't care for it I think the main point is that it was just a very, very nice gesture.
