Hermione Posted October 16, 2010 Posted October 16, 2010 He's a born showman and he's only got better and better over the years. I think pushing himself by exploring a new type of perfomance is sure to reinforce his natural peforming abilty and confidence on stage - another step up in his evolution as a performer. As for whether it'll change the nature of his perfomance, I'm not sure. I'll definitely be keeping an eye out for any changes, should be interesting
JohannaRaeRamone. Posted October 16, 2010 Posted October 16, 2010 . When I first heard about Billie stepping in as Jimmy, went "Damn that man is talented. I wonder how he's gonna learn all of those songs and the character so fast? OH WAIT he's been doing them for six years." Then I cut my samuri knot off for my dishonor. Anyway, that's an interesting thing to think. From an idylic point of view I'd like to say that, no, it will not carry over too much because the musical is premeditated acting and on stage it is 100% organic and raw spontinuity, but of course playing with Green Day every night for x-amount of time this is understandably not an option. Who knows, maybe it will inspire him in an Alice Cooper-esque tangent and he will be inspired to mix in some theatrics with the rock.
lizziebix Posted October 16, 2010 Posted October 16, 2010 So does anyone feel differently now that he tore his shirt off at last's nights concert? That felt more like St Jimmy than Billie Joe. Sure he's pulled his shirt up before, but never completely off. (That I can recall.)
dawn71 Posted October 17, 2010 Posted October 17, 2010 You could definitely see St. Jimmy coming out in his performance of JOS in Rio De Janeiro.
Hermione Posted October 17, 2010 Posted October 17, 2010 Well now we can see how it's influenced his performance You could definitely see St. Jimmy coming out in his performance of JOS in Rio De Janeiro. I know right? Love it!
manilla Posted October 17, 2010 Posted October 17, 2010 he definitely got a lot more self confidence. He proved himself that he has a great voice, he had a possibility to sing with people who've been learning how to sing properly and sometimes he was even better! What's more, he have always been a great leader on stage with Green Day, i'm sure that now he wouldn't be afraid to try something else. He proved himself that he can do something even better than before.

Daughter.of.Rage.and.Love Posted October 19, 2010 Posted October 19, 2010 It seems to me as if in the SA tour, in the few videos I have seen, Billie is, as far as that was possible, more really into the songs. Not that he wasn't before, heck no, but it just seems as if there's this little more now. And of course the ripping his shirt off is probably influenced by St. Jimmy. One thing I absolutely loved and which is probably also influenced by his playing St. Jimmy, was also during JOS in Rio. How Billie from "We are the kids of war and peace" on kind of, builds it up. Such raw powerfulness. Amazing. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H_Ex5Eo1FWo and then he takes his shirt off. I definitely think that him playing St. Jimmy for a week takes part in this.

I love that, it's like he was ready to rip someone's head off in during that song! It's like he really became the character. It's striking how much of an influence it's had, who knew he could get EVEN more into his performance?! It's great to see.
