valentinesandcigs Posted March 19, 2010 Posted March 19, 2010 I'm sorry but I didn't understand...why he named all those bands?? Because he was talking about all the bands the stooges have influenced.
Robin105 Posted March 19, 2010 Posted March 19, 2010 Finally a good quality video of Billie's speech Here

Foxboro Hot Tubs Posted March 19, 2010 Posted March 19, 2010 Finally a good quality video of Billie's speech Here Oh my god thank you so much for posting that there's also FINALLY a video from Search and Destroy ... woohoo
Riotgrrl_GD Posted March 19, 2010 Posted March 19, 2010 I thought it was great to see Billie hug Iggy the way Green Day fans hug Billie! If Billie hugs his inspiration I'm pretty sure he doesn't mind the hugs and kisses he gets from fans... ok at least the hugs hahaha
RobyRoom Posted March 19, 2010 Posted March 19, 2010 "This is where my speech starts"; I can't get enough of this Thanks for the link.
Foxboro Hot Tubs Posted March 19, 2010 Posted March 19, 2010 It was fucking epic...the speech (for what I've understood XD), the moment on the stage...fucking epic!!! is it too much asking anyone to writwe the speech?? please!!! My English is also not the best but I tried it there are some words I didn't understand.. I just made some *** instead .. and there are some parts where I wasn't sure so I just italicized it.... here we go: Hello is this thing on? Hi! How are you doing out there tonight? Good good good good good … Very excited and nervous as hell to be up here right now so The Stooges never gave us an organizational skills I tell you that I pulled this first quote from a book called “Please Kill Me” and this guy his name is Scott Kempner and he’s from a band called The Dictators This is a quote, it says “I was terrified watching The Stooges. It could cause more damage than all the tough guys I knew from my neighborhood. Iggy was wounding me psychically, forever. There was never a yesterday, there was never a set they’d played before, there was never a set they were ever going to play again. From then on, rock & roll could never be anything less to me. Whatever I did, whether I was writing, or playing – there was blood on the pages, there was blood on the strings, because anything less than that was just bullshit and a waste of fucking time.” This is where my speech starts. This is the story of some nice guys from the mid-west. The stooges define a moment in rock’n’roll history. They symbolize the destruction of flower power and they introduced us to raw power. When I think of the sound of war, chaos and demolition, sex, sensuality, poetry and brutal truth - I think of The Stooges. It’s the sound of blood and guts, sex and drugs, hard and soul, love and hate, poetry and peanut butter. The Stooges are like a battering ram. Iggy’s the most confrontational singer we will ever see. He’s a *** the crowd and his body is the ****. And still he manages to have the prettiest smile in the history of rock’n’roll. The name of the band reminds us of more a street gang. Their songs are like weapons. Songs like “I Wanna Be Your Dog”, “No Fun”, “1969”, “Real Cool Time”, “T. V. Eye” - which is like some TV sense for something else - “Search and Destroy”, “Gimme Danger”, “Your Pretty Face Is Going To Hell”, “Penetration”, “Raw Power”, “Death Trip”, “The Weirdness” and “The End of Christianity” I feel like the shamwow guy right now, you know it’s like All signs of a radical shipped culture to destroy the end of an era to search for a new thrill to find something beautiful and the ugliness and weirdness in life. All the *** and mentally disturbed or getting represented and inspired defined … New individualism and impossibly getting laid in the process. These disturbed individuals started bands, fanzines and independent labels, forming a new movement and underground and even going to the mainstream Bands like: The Adverts Adolescents The Avengers Bad Brains Bad Religion Generation X Blondie The Boys The Briefs Blatz The Buzzcocks Circle Jerks The Clash D Generaton The Damned The Dead Boys Dead Kennedys Descendents Devo Die Toten Hosen Eater The Exploding Hearts Gang of Four The Germs The Gun Club Guns N Roses The Hives Joan Jett The Runaways New York Dolls Rancid The Libertines The Lookouts Pearl Jam Metallica Red Hot Chili Peppers Nirvana Fear Operation Ivy The Replacements The Strokes The Dwarves Hole The Ramones The Pretenders The Real Kids Siouxsie & The Banshees The Slits No Means No Social Distortion Husker Du The Dictators The Cramps Stiff Little Fingers Suicidal Tendencies Black Flag Peaches The Headcoats The Undertones Mudhoney The Sex Pistols Gogol Bordello Sonic Youth Minutemen Bikini Kill The Weirdos 7 Seconds X Wire The Saints Queens of the Stone Age Television The White Stripes and my fucking band too!! And this barely scratches the surface. They are ***** mentally disturbed artists that are been inspired by the stooges and some not so mentally disturbed and they don’t even know that they have been inspired by them yet. Endless inspiration that started in Ann Arbor, Michigan and spread from the east coast to the west coast, from England throughout Europe and across the globe. Blood guts and peanut butter have been spread everywhere. And I just wanna say that Ron Asheton and Dave Alexander’s spirits are alive and well in this room tonight. ****** It is my honor to induct into the rock and roll hall of fame and - it’s about fucking time - The Stooges.
karma1215 Posted March 19, 2010 Posted March 19, 2010 Iggy will never be too old to take his shirt off! His performance was awesome. I know I kept staring at his abs....the whole time. Sanny Posted March 19, 2010 Posted March 19, 2010 I'm not sure if this is even worth to be mentioned, but while The Hollies performed with the Maroon 5 guys, the camera man caught Billie singing to the song and I just found it was so fucking cute because I would have never expected him to know such a song: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8OWrTET7aIA (2:30 is where about Billie is seen) Sorry for that stupid, senseless and useless contribution
Robin105 Posted March 19, 2010 Posted March 19, 2010 Thanks for that. I love seeing Billie singing to other artists songs.
