I only just got in the door, so I could only watch their performance now.

Wow....that was just spectacular! I really didn't think it'd be that good, but I'm totally blown away to be honest. The harmonies worked perfectly and I loved how the female singers were singing to Billie Joe and Mike.

To me it was very eloquent

And I loved seeing BJ stick in a little jump at the end

I really liked their performance! Billie's voice was drowned out a little though.

And congrats to them for winning Best Rock Album.

And as someone mentioned above, Billie got to thank his family but then it was over, and Mike or Tre didn't get to say anything.. :/

I dunno, it's just that...if you compare the 2005 speech ( http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=V5adMgIRDKA ) with the 2010 speech, there's a big difference. I know the 05 award was such a huge accomplishment for American Idiot and their first prestigious award in so long, but I still think that this year's speech lacked a bit. But then again, they always say how they're awkward when it comes to accepting and making speeches so that might be it :wink:

I really liked the performance! so many people were bashing on it last night,

I can't see why. I mean this is a huge step for them, they're more than just "another band" now.

It was surprising how many people disagreed with it. But everyone has their opinions.

-I laughed at how the cast was pretty much on their shoulders the whole time they're real friendly!

I was so proud that they won Rock Album, but the speech was sort of short,

and Poor Tre and Mike didn't get to talk, & they almost played Billie off.

(friggin Grammy people and their speech limits :down: )

off topic but, anyone else think that T-pain was lip-syncing really badly?

I really liked the performance too actually. It was better than I thought it would have been. I like how the girls wree singing to Billie and Mike, it was really strange to see people singing their songs at them.

I was watching it with my parents, and as soon as the girl started singing my Mom was like "I love it!!" and she ended up liking it better than the original. But mom and I both loved the performance. I thought it was really good. I didn't know what to expect at all, but I really liked it. I do kind of agree with Billie Joe's voice being drowned out at the end though.

My dad's contributions to the performance conversations were more like:

*Billie Joe's on screen*

Dad: Man, he's ugly.

Mom: She thinks he's divine.

Dad: Serious???

Me: Well... I believe the more recent term I used was adorable... but I'm sure I've said divine at some point in time, yes.

*Tre's on screen*

Dad: WOAH! He gained a tonne of weight!! He's fat now!

Me:

Mom: I'd have to agree.

Dad: How much do you think he gained? Twenty pounds? Thirty pounds?

Me: I haven't really tried to estimate...

Mom: Yeah, twenty or thirty looks about right.

Me: Does that even matter? Honestly.
