Starbug Posted February 24, 2009 Posted February 24, 2009 No, cause they were custom so they're one of a kindIn recent photos (not so recent though) I saw him with a Bonham kit so, he's got some nice drumsWow, I didn't realize that. I mean, I knew he of course had some awesome drums... You do know a lot of the little details about these guys, doncha? yeah, got shitloads of GD and GD related memories. I've seen them live everytime they've been in my area since Insomiac... so roughly 8 times (saw them twice on the Nimrod and AI tours). Kind of a dorky thing here, but a friend and I used to do the guitar parts of brain stew as Beavis and Butthead. lol.I can hear that in my head! And dorky is good! I think B&BH even had Brain Stew on their show before. I'm pretty sure they did lol
minus52 Posted February 24, 2009 Posted February 24, 2009 well, i turn 13 in a couple of months then i'll be able to post here,

Well...My friend, Michael, was drunk off his ass, and it came on. He also happened to be nekkid at the time. Sooooo he commences to hopping across the room, arms spread, singing, "HEY! HEY! HEY!" Like the WB frog, ya know? wearing nothing but his glasses and his socks  Just one of many, many warm GD memories of mine God, that was funny. I'm glad I thought about that... bwahahaha

Walked around the day blurting it out and looking like a moron... was going on about masturbating and didn't realize it at the time. I was such a stupid kid.

acoustix Posted February 24, 2009 Posted February 24, 2009 I like being referred to as 'a vet' A technicality lolYes, it does. Punk isn't my favorite kind of music, either. If you consider them 'punk' I really don't anymore. But they have always been and will remain my favorite band, even if I take up Tahitian throat chanting. They transcend labels and like I said, they own everybody. And I also understand it being 'personal'. Sometimes a connection is made to something that can't be explained, nor would you want to. Or memories are made that are personal. Any way you look at it, everybody's story is different. The point is, you're a fan Tahitian throat chanting! How did you know I dig shit like that? Get out of my head... AHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!
Starbug Posted February 24, 2009 Posted February 24, 2009 lolI gotta give you credit there... that's using your brain I like -52 Creative thinkers find loopholes... but it's for fans who've been fans 13+ years. And Juan. Who I have deemed an honorary Veteran haha Tahitian throat chanting! How did you know I dig shit like that? Get out of my head... AHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!! It's an under-appreciated art form!
Juan Posted February 24, 2009 Posted February 24, 2009 Creative thinkers find loopholes... but it's for fans who've been fans 13+ years. And Juan. Who I have deemed an honorary Veteran haha Yeah, thanks a lot
Starbug Posted February 24, 2009 Posted February 24, 2009 Yeah, thanks a lotWere you being sarcastic? I think you were being sarcastic... It is an honor. You're a good fan
Nimrod99 Posted February 24, 2009 Posted February 24, 2009 Here's another GD memory just to keep this thread going. It was during the Nimrod tour. I saw them twice that tour, and everything was cool and really fun the first show I went to. I figured out during that show that I don't do mosh pits/being front row (I'm claustrophobic). The second show was cool, but contained something that horrified/embarrassed/had a gigglefit/maked me look like a deer caught in the headlights of a car... all wrapped up into one. It was when they played King For A Day and the whole "stripping down to a leapord thong" thing happened. If I was by myself it wouldn't have been as bad, but my dad was standing next to me when it happed... I'm not if I wanted to die of embarrassment, vomit, or stare. I took shit for that the who trip back home, not to mention my mom saying "oh, so you saw some fat, flappy guy practically naked. Was he cute?". Ok, going to go jump off a bridge now that I feel all embarrassed again.

But my mom would probably have a giggle fit herself That's a great memory, though lol
Greenday_Aussie Posted February 24, 2009 Posted February 24, 2009 Anyone noticed how much "Nimrod Era Billie" resembles "AI Era Billie"? Same hair, and in one of the videos I was watching on Youtube, it almost looked like he was wearing eyeliner (he wouldnt have been though, just shadows) Search One of my lies live, Billie has a black shirt and it should have a display picture with a green backlighting!

As far as the shadows, he was probably stoned I've got a pic of him about that era and he's stoned as a goose!
Naked and Famous Posted February 24, 2009 Posted February 24, 2009 *put on my official vet badge*(Why am I always extremely late for awesome threads like this?! :/ )Here's another GD memory just to keep this thread going. Ok, going to go jump off a bridge now that I feel all embarrassed again.God, that was my first concert too ~ May 1998!!!I will forever have the image of BJ prancing around in a thong burned in my head ~ That was the best show I've ever been to in my life!!I'm not much for mosh pits, either ~ My friends & I had seats a ways back. I remember, during King for a Day, automatically putting my fist in the air for the chorus; BJ pointed back & me & my friend & started doing it himself, getting the entire crowd to do it. I was so giddy I could've pissed myself lolIn reference to the post-Warning shows seeming like the beginning of the end, I know what ya mean ~ Still a great time, but it felt like the flame was smoldering, ya know? But these guys never cease to amaze me
chickin'pickin' Posted February 24, 2009 Posted February 24, 2009 This thread is an elitist shitheap.
Nimrod99 Posted February 24, 2009 Posted February 24, 2009 yeah, but you have to add a little more pounds to the AI era as well... he was more on the chubby side back then (which was fine with me). I miss them all being on the heftier side, not many screaming teenies. Come to think of it, there wasn't a massive teeny fest at a bunch of those shows (there were a few, but no one payed attention to them, and they didn't overtake the shows). I'm glad my parents have forgotten about the nekkidness. lol. Another funny moment: watching my dad bust a gut after Billie kissed a guy onstage. I thought he was going to wet himself with laughter. That was a fun concert because there was no assigned seats and the venue pretty much resembled a high school gym with bleachers, and you could go onto the floor if you wanted to (I didn't because I'm so fucking short I wouldn't be able to see anything)
Naked and Famous Posted February 24, 2009 Posted February 24, 2009 I don't like saying "chubbier" ~ I prefer "healthier" Nimrod : The place they played around here was pretty much the same thing ~ I think it was actually in a gym with bleachers lol; it was at ECC city campusAnd don't worry, I'm too damn short too hehe
Starbug Posted February 24, 2009 Posted February 24, 2009 I'm just as proud as punch of the ONE GD show I've seen. And the FHT show But damn, I wish I could've caught all these other shows over the years, too. This thread is an elitist shitheap. How so?I don't think so. 99% of the threads on this forum are run (and more fun) for kids under 20. When i first came to this forum, I had little 12 and 14 year olds telling me I was a n00b and to stfu, and all kinds of colorful things. All kinds of cliques are around here, like any other forum. I see nothing wrong w/ this. The young people on here weren't there for a lot of these things. We were. I don't think I'm better. I'm just older.
