B-CIDE Posted February 24, 2009 Posted February 24, 2009 My first memories of Green Day are hating them so much because they were popular and just everywhere. I finally caved after hearing 'When I Come Around' on the radio for 800,000th time and bought the Dookie tape. Never before and never since have I listened to an album so much - I just played it over and over and over. I also remember seeing them perform a concert for the first time with Jaded In Chicago and watching them play 'Christie Road' over and over which led me to their old stuff of coarse and they've been my favorite band ever since.Hell yea!

Juan Posted February 24, 2009 Posted February 24, 2009 Insomniac was Quick and to the pointless, relentlessnimrod was a bit more mature, they we're getting savvyWarning was no strings attached, play old stuff
SynthwaveTrooper Posted February 24, 2009 Author Posted February 24, 2009 Hell yea, it's a toss up between Insomniac and Nimrod, cuz the Nimrod shows they did mad requests and shit.Nimrod was like the sequel to "Green Day presents: Get your ass beat BRUTAL concert"

Otherwise, it was perfect. That's still a great song.
Juan Posted February 24, 2009 Posted February 24, 2009 I was baffled at the absence of When I come around during AI eraspecially when It was used to close before the "Hey, I really dig Keith Moon" act by Tre
SynthwaveTrooper Posted February 24, 2009 Author Posted February 24, 2009 is this thread important enough to get pinned?
Starbug Posted February 24, 2009 Posted February 24, 2009 I was baffled at the absence of When I come around during AI eraspecially when It was used to close before the "Hey, I really dig Keith Moon" act by TreWhat?is this thread important enough to get pinned? That's a 'no' lolIt's important, but only news and forum related stuff of the like gets pinned.
Juan Posted February 24, 2009 Posted February 24, 2009 What?Keith Moon (and The who too) were notorious for breaking their gear at the end of the showIt's no secret that Tre (and GD in general) really dig The Whothe setting the drumkit on fire was in ways an homage to him
SynthwaveTrooper Posted February 24, 2009 Author Posted February 24, 2009 What? That's a 'no' lolIt's important, but only news and forum related stuff of the like gets pinned.Well thats ok, i just dont want this thread to die like in 1 day

Cause I never saw him do that during AI. But that sounds fooking AWESOME They closed w/ Maria and 2,000 Light Years and BOBD as encores at the show I went to. I think that was their only encores... Best I remember. Now, that's something I thought I'd never, ever forget Someone standing next to us at the show, when they started playing Maria, turned to each other and said, "Well this sucks, some encore..."and THEY LEFT! I was outraged! lol

Nimrod99 Posted February 24, 2009 Posted February 24, 2009 Wasn't lurking, was reading. lol. Aaaaaaaaaaah yeah, the good ol' days. I got into them when Insomniac came out (but had heard them when Dookie was still releasing singles). The Insomniac/Nimrod concerts were the best. Anyone remember when Billie used to jump over the drumset after "All By Myself"? At the show I went to, he landed on his ass. lmfao. Anyone remember the concert with the naked stage diving? I have it on tape somewhere. The Nimrod concerts were awesome becuase they went to smaller venues (that's when my jacket got thrown on stage and Billie wore it and said "Nice jacket, I think I'll keep it"... and it was a fugly jacket). I still have a lot of the old shirts (a couple of them being the one with the guy pissing on the Kerplunk! flower). No doubt that Green Day will be a massive part of my life for a long time to come. So many memories, some kind of embarrassing... lol.

I knew he did it, but... yeah I bet the company will buy him whatever he wants now lolWell i am off to bed guys, i will be in this thread tomorrow. Keep posting stories and memories! I knew he did it, but... yeah I bet the company will buy him whatever he wants now lolNo, cause they were custom so they're one of a kindIn recent photos (not so recent though) I saw him with a Bonham kit so, he's got some nice drums

I've seen them live everytime they've been in my area since Insomiac... so roughly 8 times (saw them twice on the Nimrod and AI tours). Kind of a dorky thing here, but a friend and I used to do the guitar parts of brain stew as Beavis and Butthead. lol.
