belinda jane Posted April 30, 2009 Posted April 30, 2009 i'm sure a lot of people on this forum feel that way BUT YES, THIS GREEN DAY TOUR WE WILL MEET MY FRIEND.i believe!haha.
Greenday_Aussie Posted April 30, 2009 Posted April 30, 2009 We'll have a ball. Im gonna try for Melbourne too. belinda jane Posted April 30, 2009 Posted April 30, 2009 lol, yeah this is REALLY off topic.i haven't seen snow either, or been on a plan and i'm 18.so if i decide to go along with this australian tour of green day thing (which i will!) it'll be my first time on a plane.
Greenday_Aussie Posted April 30, 2009 Posted April 30, 2009 Really? Wow, I hate planes now. Stupid LOST  I suppose since Ive been off and on planes since I was 4 years old. I think Ive been on them at least 3 or 4 times a year, and thats just an average
belinda jane Posted April 30, 2009 Posted April 30, 2009 change of topic.i'm going to put 'green day veteran since 1997' in my sig
Starbug Posted April 30, 2009 Posted April 30, 2009 yay! Glad to see the Veteran thread active again These boys rock so hard, and I, too, plan on loving them for life, as I've already stated lol I just hope this swine flu business doesn't slow down the tour, but if it keeps getting much worse, it will :/ We'll see. I hope it's not anywhere near as bad as everyone thinks it might get.

totalbookharlot Posted May 2, 2009 Posted May 2, 2009 My best (and very first!) memory involving Green Day was probably the year Dookie came out. I remember sitting in the living room with my parents--they introduced me to them, I was four years old--while Dad was trying to figure out the guitar parts and Mom told me to go into the kitchen for lunch and I told her she needed to "fuck off and die". Needless to say, my father burst out with laughter but my mother was just...well, for lack of a better word, shocked. I've loved the group ever since and I feel like they've just always been there for me through all the crap I've gone through growing up. I love them!

What part?
SynthwaveTrooper Posted May 12, 2009 Author Posted May 12, 2009 Hey you vets 9the real vets i mean), so after sooo many years of listening to Green Day, whats has the new album done to you?
Sharmellow Posted May 12, 2009 Posted May 12, 2009 8 more years until I get my bragging rights. Been a fan since '04.
snotbooger Posted May 12, 2009 Posted May 12, 2009 Got into Green Day during the Kerplunk era.Actually first proper show was Green Day in 1993? Opening for the Flaming Lips.Got to see them go from small punk band pre MTV to supergroup.SO weird.Anyways. I like the progression Green Day has made. They've grown older as I have and you can only write songs like at the library for so long.16 year veteran? Holy crap.
sharon mitchell Posted May 13, 2009 Posted May 13, 2009 Okay. This band has meant a TON to me for years, and after having seen them three times - Brixton, Milton Keynes and the exclusive Top of the Pops gig - I was already convinced they are the best band in the world.BUTIn this past week, not only did I get to meet all three of them (on the pavement outside the BBC studios in Maida Vale), I also got to see them in a tiny venue in Paris last night. They did the new stuff (ten tracks) then 7 oldies but goldies. In the street, they spent about a quarter of an hour signing, posing and chatting, and I was totally blown away by how down to earth and approachable they were. I thought I would melt into a pile of drool, but they made me feel like I was talking to old friends, not mega-super-ultra stars. On stage last night they were polished to perfection - it sounded like they had performed this stuff FOREVER and it was utter magic. The new album is incredible. The words and the melodies haunt me - I am trying so hard not to overplay it but it draws me in like a magnet. I didn't think they could ever top Nimrod for versatility, but this album shows off their magnificent inventiveness and variety. Green Day are gods. End of.
Starbug Posted May 15, 2009 Posted May 15, 2009 Hey you vets 9the real vets i mean), so after sooo many years of listening to Green Day, whats has the new album done to you?Okay, so this might run long, but I'm gonna put down my first experience listening to this album.I downloaded it at my sisters house last Friday night. I wasn't in the best state of mind at the time, even though spending time with my family was nice. My mom was in the hospital, though, and they didn't know what was wrong with her. I was tied in a knot.I put it in the car, turned it up obscenely loud, and drove around for a little while. It was about 1:30 in the morning and I was looking for things to do to kill time. I washed the car, I got food, I drove around, and just listened. When 21CB came on, I got chills up and down both of my arms. Then the rest of the cd happened. It wasn't that I wasn't impressed, because I was in a way. My heart felt so heavy, and while they did lift it as they always have, it was new and different and it didn't excite me like I had hoped it would. I got to track 11 before I finally admitted defeat and had to go home lolBut the next day was a horse of a different color.I went to get my mom, and on the way, I cranked it up again obscenely loud, pulled my hair back, rolled the windows down, and enjoyed the beautiful Green Day. Sunshine and kick ass music. I fell in love. And I have continued to fall in love ever since. I am overwhelmingly proud of these guys, this music is shiny and professional and beautiful. It pisses me off when I read negative reviews from anyone, because that means they just don't get it. They don't feel it. That probably shouldn't anger me, it should make me pity them for not being able to extract even a modicum of joy from this album by a band that has filled my life with it. So I don't read them anymore I love this album. So far that's the only memory I have made with it, because most of my friends live in other places. But I have been text messaging lyrics to Amanda and Beth almost every day, back and forth, and I find that fun. I'm learning it and discovering it as I have every other GD album over the past 15 years. It's a little adventure. They're responsible for so much, I hope I get the opportunity to thank all three of them one day. I love them. No one around me understands that. Doesn't matter, it doesn't change a thing. I might not be 'sentimental' over it like I am the others, but it will come. And I say this is one of, if not THE, best albums of their career.Okay, I'm done rambling for now lolOkay. Franzi Posted May 15, 2009 Posted May 15, 2009 i'm 21 now and have been a fan since before Nimrod.thats probebly why its still my favorite album ever.when did it come out ? 1997? that means i was 9 , o.O buhahahi also remember that none of my friends knew green day, because in my class the Backstreet Boys were the REAL DEAL, if you know what i mean. i really liked them since then but every now and then my excitment went a away for a bit because i was so young and didnt really know what my real taste in music is. heck, i still played with barbies, while listening to Green Day on my room. xDThen Warning came and i got right back into the-green-day-fan-moodthat was the time i told my dad that one day i would marry a guy like Billie Joe and he was like "who the fuck is that?" then AI came and they were really hyped here in Germany and were on tv all the time. My dad remembered that i told him about this billie joe guy when i was little and he came to and and said "if you every bring home a guy like that, ill make sure you wont get any of my money when i'm dead" HAHAHAHAHAH I love my daddyBut i would call myself a fan since Nimrod =)
sharon mitchell Posted May 15, 2009 Posted May 15, 2009 The four bonus cover versions on the iTunes download are making me so happy. I love their stuff to pieces, but they treat other writers' work with such respect. I was first in line at HMV this morning and I am going to avoid looking at my bank balance until after the 25th because Paris and HMV have done horrible things to my solvency, but, bugger it, it's Green Day and that makes it worth every snotty letter from my financial institution.GD, I love this band.
