o.O so i think i scared my niece for life... i was listening to "take back" on my comp with headphones on and she pulled the chord and went blasting the song and her screaming running away crying.... then my cats followed! oh what a day

Oh poor baby! You couldn't have been listening to Good Riddance, could ya??

Alas, my high speed is gone :/ I am depressed about it, but there's really nothing I can do. I had it for one glorious night. A-it's not enough memory, it's limited. I thought it would be, but last night I didn't really do all that much and racked up a lot against my alloted memory, and at that rate I'd use it up within two weeks. B-I'm not paying 60+ bucks a month for internet that limits me so much. I am bummed.

Hope all you vets are having a fantastic day.

And  at the message from Andres at the top.

Sorry this was waaay off topic.

*go Green Day!*

Too bad about the high speed. Sucks about the limited memory :/ Have you tried looking into other Internet providers, maybe another company can offer you a better price?

Yeah, and the only other thing is satellite and the customer ratings and reviews on those were absolutely horrendous. They charge a ricockulous amount of money for bad service. So I'm stuck w/ dial up for the time being :/ Oh well lol at least I"m used to it :)

like i just said in the "who do you want to open for green day" thread... you know you've been around a LONG time when people want bands to open for GD that have already opened for them in the past. sigh.

Posted

so how are all you vets this morning?

myself, still drinking and not happy. lol. oh well...

but anyways, this vet feels his old age when youngsters are asking him what was it like when i was their age and i was listening to GD during hard times.

Posted

yay someone to talk to. i can't sleep and i'm bored out of my MIND.

you're still drinking at 11am? i should join you

no one asks me what it was like to listen to GD through the hard times when i was 14 :( haha

For me it would be Insomniac. So many good times during that period. Almost too many to even count.

man im 26 and ive been fortunate enough to go to pretty much all green day shows ive wanted to. the best had to be when they did the surprise set at gilman for the adeline showcase when the influents got done playing and then green day got on stage. it was pure madness. everyone was on their cell phones telling their friends to get to gilman cause history was repeating itself. fucking great! the people that ran gilman were so pissed and so worried that the club owners were going to kill them over letting it happen. haha. seen green day tons, seen foxboro, seen pinhead gunpowder 5 times. im still kicking myself in the ass for being to drunk to go to the network show at the key club though. fuck my life.

Tha gilman street gig sounds awesome! What did they play?

Posted

You missed a Network show? Wow lol Yeah, I'd be kicking myself, too  I was thinking the other night how incredible that would've been and how I don't know anyone from this forum that saw them.

My favorite GD album is Dookie, always will be. It started it all and it's tied to my soul practically. I have a lot of memories tied to it, good and bad.

no they didnt play nimrod. at the gilman show they only got to play like 9 or 10 songs before the people at gilman shut it down. they only played stuff from kerplunk 39 smooth and like 2 songs from dookie. it was the best green day show ive been to by far. my gf and i were right up front and there was only about 40 or 50 people in gilman when they got onstage. towards the end of the show there were about 100 people but gilman staff locked the doors to keep the big crowd out which was nice. yeah im pissed about the network. in my opinion insomniac was their best album for me. it was just more pissed off and the lyrics were alot darker and meaner to me. i love it.

What happened when they told them off?

Sorry, this is pretty interesting, what year was it?

That's awesome

And Insomniac was definitely a good angsty album

it was in september of 2001. green day knew they would get kicked off stage so they just played a couple songs and left pretty much. i have it on dvd and i watch it everyonce and a while. there were alot of other great bands that played that night also such as the thumbs and the one time angels. i also got to see the frustrators twice which was fucking awesome too.

Are you able to put it on Youtube...or would it already be there?

Posted

nimrod was pretty damn bratty, too  It contains The Grouch, which is one of my all time favorites, definitely. After that album, their music took a noticeable turn in a different direction. not necessarily a bad one, just a different one. To me. I remember being disappointed, initially, in Warning because it was so vastly different that what had come before it. But if you look at it, Dookie was a lot different than 1039 or Kerplunk in a lot of ways. So they've really been evolving slowly since the beginning.

Yeah, its a pretty massive difference. Like...really massive

i have no idea how to use youtube and i wouldnt even know where to begin. as far as i know its not on there. i was gonna throw a copy up on ebay along with some other shit from my collection but who knows when ill do that. sorry. if you want a copy send me a message and we can work something out.

Yeah thats totally true. We heard Minority about 3 or 4 times that day, because we were standing outside the BBC gate queuing up while they were doing their sound check. The gates were no more than 100 yards away from the temporary stage and i even got Billie Joe to do a little 'eh oh' back to me!

Sharon can correct me if i'm wrong, but i think they played Minority first to 'warm up' before they did JOS for the TOTP show. BBC aired a TOTP special at a later date with some of the rest of the set, but yeah they did the whole 'We are the waiting/st. jimmy' combo as well.

Full set list;

Minority

Jesus Of Suburbia

Letterbomb

We Are The Waiting/St Jimmy

Give me Novocaine

She's A Rebel

Wake Me Up When September Ends

Longview

Welcome to Paradise

I Fought The Law

I'd love a copy of that concert if you could manage to send me one.

Sharing GD goodies is wonderful.

I love getting Green Day goodies in the mail. I remember how much of a flaming geek I was the week I ordered my silly little Hard Rock poker chip  I checked the mail every day, usually too early, just waiting for it... then I ordered a PHG album... and then a little tin sign w/ all the US tour dates on it... It's like Christmas!
