even aaron cometbus said that after AI came out he walked into a convienance store and saw a bunch of green day air fresheners and that he couldn't believe how they had gotten more popular than they were in '94.

i haven't.

Oh, I was joking  I remember being 14 or 15 and getting this little book that had a picture of a naked Billie Joe in it. I mean, from behind, ya know, playing the guitar. I was shocked lol I was pretty naive and wasn't used to seeing stuff like that. So I guess part of it w/ GD was a fascination at the time because they were so different from anything else I'd seen or liked. Rebellious, unapologetic, snotty, bratty, a breath of fresh air, and describing me perfectly w/ their lyrics. I've never had much of a 'crush' on Billie or anything, but I admire the hell out of him... I've always been a Tre girl

lol, no worries. I had a friend who was massively obsessed with him (she was going through her teenie stage at that time), and she showed me this picture of him (the same one you described), and I pointed and laughed and then commented on how he needed to tan and to work on his glutes... she smacked me. lmao. Yeah, their attitudes back then were pretty cool... it was kind of odd to see them be all nice  . I though Billie was not lacking in the looks department (heck, they all were in their own unique ways), but that was about it.

Yeah, Billie's cute. I think his butt is cute  But I've never really been obsessed w/ them for their looks or anything like that. You're right, none of them are ugly, they're all good looking in their own ways. Mike Dirnt in person is beautiful lol But it's never really been about that. I think they're adorable, especially Billie, the way I think some of my friends are adorable. For the personalities. And all 3 members, as far as I can tell by what they present publicly, have fun personalities. And as for them being nice, well, they had to grow up sometime, right? lol

Dookie = poop

Air fresheners = make things smell not like poop

Yeah, I was never obsessed about their looks (thier music yes, totally obsessed... I admit that one). What I like about Billie is his how he comes across as being this nerdy kind of guy, what I like about Mike is his how he appears (because I don't actually know him nor have met him) to be a kind person, and what I like about Tre is his wild and crazy antics. they have other good qualities about them as well. You said it perfectly... Everyone is beautiful in one way or another. When they grew up, it made me feel old. lol. Going to the concerts now makes me feel like an old fart in a sea of raging hormones.

Well, i gotta say i just spent the last 3 hours or so reading this whole thread! I saw it earlier in the week and knew i had to. Its just jumped straight to my favourite thread, nice one JeffThreat!

Its 1:30 AM here and i'm pretty tired, but it was worth it. I feel i'm up to speed now and ready to spill all my GD thoughts and memories in here in the coming days and on!

There isn't much loyalty in music, and its great to have a place with people who share these feelings about the band.

Where to start is the question!

HOW MANY OF YOU VETS HAVE TATTOOOOOOS??? :woot:

I do

I have one! There's a link in my profile, but i'll post it here soon. Its pretty new, and i love it.

But the Warfield show was so rad, BAstards of Young, guys

The Warfield show. There isn't footage of this is there? I was actually looking into flying out for this show, and was gutted that i didn't when i heard about it. But it spurred me on for the Foxboro Hot Tubs adventure last year, so no regrets! :)

But what a show that must've been. And The Network supporting Green Day! Brilliant.

I didn't get to see them until AI :/

Due to money, where I live, and stupid ass family not taking me when they said they would. Oh, and I was petrified of crowds.

But I saw them 10/16/05 and it was the best. Night. Ever. Then I saw them in Austin as FHT last May.

Have any of you ever met them?

I think FHT makes up for anything you might've missed. That was just something else.

I managed to speak to Billie Joe at the Long Beach show and also the band once before at the London TRL show in 2004. Down to earth guys, can't ask for more.

Does anyone remember the Black Green Day singles box? It was a very costly import from Japan, it had like 7 singles in it and it was something like $100. I remember I bought that baby, still have it, but it was awesome to get it back in the day. It had the import singles with the b-sides on em, this was before they came out with the Shenanigans CD with all the b-sides on it, I was spending mad money at my local record store to get imports of Green Day, it was an awesome time.

I want me one of those singles boxes!! - And awesome sig by the way B-CIDE, love it.

P.S Sig updated! Thank you, Starbug :)

No, Footage, only Audio but it was a great setlist

Yeah, it is a pretty awesome thread, isn't it? lol It's fun to discuss older stuff and memories. I've made so many memories regarding this band, w/ my friends, w/ the band themselves (at their shows, I mean lol) and just... Words fail me sometimes. You're right, there's not much loyalty in music, but being in this fan community, and seeing it firsthand, I can see that Green Day have some of the most loyal, dedicated fans, just all around good people. I think that speaks volumes about the band, really.

FHT was great. Like I said somewhere in the thread, I'll post my run in w/ Tre some time. It was memorable. And this is the thread for memories  I met Jason White, too.

That must've been so surreal to meet and chat w/ the whole band, that's awesome. I hope I get the opportunity to meet the other two. And are you one of the fellas in your avatar?

Absolutely. And loyal! Granted, I've not been a part of many other 'fan' forums (Just Beastie Boys, a few years ago) but this is an amazing place for fans to be, which is why there's over 30,000 members now and how we mostly plowed down the competition in that playlist competition. That was fun lol

That's better!

I'm listening to that acoustic show. Does anyone know where that was recorded? Somewhere in CA, I'm sure (Stupid question, of course someone knows...)
