All Green Day fans are Welcome to be in here.

Aww, thank you!

I was watching this thread with great envy! Because I am a 30-year-old Green Day teenie! :( Although I took notice of Dookie back then and especially liked She and Longview, I totally failed at getting really into them. I got really hooked up only when AI came out aaaand especially Boulevard of Broken Dreams. :ninja:

And I am so sad, that I missed all those years...I mean it was kind of awesome in 2007 (oh, yeah, not even AI I discovered by the time it came out) to have every few weeks a new album of your favourite band but there is nothing like to have all the memories from all the years, you guys have.

I am glad, you are sharing the memories here.

I'm Green Day fan since 2004... but i really love 1039/Smoothed Out Slappy Hours and Kerplunk  Dookie is awesome too. but Warning is my fav of all. and my first song that I heard of them was Basket Case, i'm freaking out since there!

My best story about Green Day is this....

As long as I was a fan, ( Dookie Era )

Green Day never came to Louisville, Ky for a concert. I went to school with a bunch of people who all thought Green Day was cool when Dookie came out, but thought they were posers after that. I tell you, it was brutal in my high school to be a Green Day fan. I was always picked on about that...I remember jokes about how Billie only knew three chords, how every album sounds the same. How Rancid & Offspring were both better and neither band liked Green Day.

Fast forward to 2004..I'm married, I have a son and Green Day was finally coming to Louisville, Ky for the American Idiot tour...OMG, I couldn't believe it. Of course I bought a ticket for me and my wife. Well things went south in our relationship and we split 4 days before the concert.

I remember talking with my brother and he was like, you still going to go by yourself. I said fuck yeah, I don't care...I'm not missing this for anything.

Sure enough, I was there by myself and a bunch of teenagers. I remember Sugarcult being really cool and New Found Glory was lame. However, watching Green Day perform was the most amazing thing I ever seen ( minus my son being born ) I sang and jumped as loud, as long and as hard as I could during their entire set. I called my brother screaming while they were performing Homecoming telling him this was the greatest thing ever!! He later told me that he never heard me that happy.

After the concert was over, I drove past the arena, screaming out of the window that Green Day ruled...my throat was wrecked, my neck was aching, but I had the biggest smile on my face.

We ended up getting a divorce, but I remember for that moment back in April of 2004....I had the time of my life thanks to Green Day.

Now as the new album prepares to come out, I'm already planning to go whatever tour date is closest to my hometown in case they don't come by this time.

To me, I'm proud to see a band that I followed when I was just 13 years old, still kick ass when I'm 28 years old. I hope that one day, I can share my Green Day albums with my son and he will enjoy them as much as I do. And who knows...maybe he will be able to go to a concert with me if they are still playing in the next 5 to 10 years....and I have a feeling that Green Day isn't going anywhere.

P.S - Please add Green Day to Rock Band

^ok that story made me cry. :)

Wow. I have been reading some of the posts in this thread, and even though I have been a fan for 15 years, I have to admit I am a bit jealous. I would give almost anything to have some of the experiences that you guys have had. But.. I am in the same boat as Starbug (my BFF in life and in GD) Due to the fact that I lived in a little no name town, and the fact that my parents would have had a shit fit, I never got the opportunity. But I do have amazing memories. Hearing their music for the first time, I remember being in Starbugs old beastie mobile (good times) And not being able to get it loud enough.. I remember that CD staying in my car for months. Theirs is the music of my youth. And I am very glad that as I get older, their music still manages to speak to me. No matter what my mood, there is a Green Day song that fits it.

I am so proud to be able to say that I am a GD Veteran. I have so many wonderful memories associated with their music. It's hard to say however, what my favorite one is. The AI tour was awesome.. Just being there, the energy was amazing.

But truthfully, I think the best EXPERIENCE Is the FHT show in Austin. From start to finish, the best day of my life. The drive to Austin, Standing in line for hours... even the crazy homeless guy and the sun burn was amazing, hehe. Of course the concert was amazing.. I was standing right in front of Mike, bouncing, screaming and jumping like a mad woman. My Kerplunk Daisy tattoo proudly displayed...considering it is on my wrist, and my hands were always in the air, it was kinda hard to hide it..lol . The best moment though.. Had to be when Mike noticed the tattoo and smiled at me. I think I felt myself running down my leg.

I remember when Dookie came out and they wouldn't stop playing When I Come Around or Basketcase on the radio. My sister had borrowed Dookie from someone and I would just stare at the cover art because it was so cool. I was probably 9 at the time? That's when I started liking them, around 1994 but I didn't really get into the band until 1997-1998-ish. But I didn't go to my first show until '05. I don't have any awesome Green Day stories though.

You guys are so lucky........

Yeah but we'll all probably be dead before you, so meh.

NO! You have time. You'll make your own :) You think I had any interesting GD stories when I was 14? Well, actually, I did, because I went to a Christian school and seemed to get into trouble from time to time bringing contraband haha But seriously, that sort of stuff might not seem like a memory at the time you're making it, but you'll remember it later and laugh. If it's funny and makes you warm to think about, it's a memory  You've got time, don't wish your life away

That was an awesome story, a semi-sad story, but a great one. I too foresee Green Day hanging around for quite a while. I can see it now: Gotta go to the Green Day show *grabs walker*. *insert future daughter's name here* let's go. Try not to be too much of a teenie at the show, my ears can't take that shit anymore (we all know how the guys don't seem to age that much). Then after we get home, I'll go on about "Back when I was your age.....".

THAT is a great story. My first concert during the AI era was the best night of my life, and I went through a lot to be able to go. It's great :)

Yeah, FHT was pretty damn awesome, wasn't it? Listening to 'Rock This Town' on the way out of your subdivision, driving across Houston to pick up Greg, geeking out the whole way there, worried we'd get there too late. Greg popping mushrooms in the MIDDLE OF WHATTABURGER   I remember just sitting there, my mouth agape, watching him pop them into his mouth  Seeing Tre for the first time out on the street and you being the only one of the two of us to have the presence of mind to snap a pic of him. Damn, it was great, wasn't it? :D

^Is the crazy homeless guy the one from the youtube video?

That'd be the one lol But he was part of the whole experience. He had a very captive audience for a few hours, and he took advantage of it. He didn't hurt anybody, of course, but he was nuttier than bird shit lolol

My first AI concert was kind of bittersweet. It was awesome to see GD again, but it was kind of sad because it was the first show I went to since Laddie (my old horse) died. I remember practically shitting my pants when the pyro's went off... totally wasn't expecting that. And I also cryed during WMUWSE due to what happened with Laddie and my friend's daughter (read back in this thread to hear about that).

On a happier note, be forewarned, I'm kind of feeling in one of those artsy fartsy moods. I might get started on that scarf. Just have to figure out how I'm going to do it.

Haha!! When I was first searching youtube for FHT videos that's the first thing I found

I was suprised no one got up and danced with him or something. I would have.

The pyro's  We were probably 50-100 yards from the stage, and when that shit went off BOOOM it was SO hot, even where we were standing. I can't imagine how they felt, especially poor Tre, he was right in front of them. but it was one of the coolest things I'd ever seen. Especially the sparks during Hitchin' a Ride when he counts off a-1, 2, 1234 SHIIIIITE!!!! and KABOOM haha I have pics of it on my myspace. Freakin sweet, considering the only other concert I'd seen was

New Kids on the Block shhhh don't tell haha

Artsy fartsy, eh? You hafta share your results :D

I was in the seats. But still, it was like KABOOM *Hits the deck*. Yeah, lol, baked Green Day. Oh god, don't even remind me of

New Kids on the Block

I had the tapes and a few video's *runs and hides* :ninja:

I haven't started on it... yet... just thinking how I'm going to do it, I want something different, but not something that's going to come out hokey looking.

I was in the seats, too, but we were in the very front row, the last row before GA. So we were pretty far back.

And ain't no shame in liking NEW KIDS ON THE BLOCK bwahaha cats outta the bag now! A good friend bought me their new cd for me for my birthday. Cause I wouldn't have bought it myself, at least not in the town I live in. I'd go to another town, where no one knows me :ninja:

but again, no shame!

Yeah, I'm staying away from NKOTB. lol. Some shithead I didn't know broke one of my tapes in the park. I was pissed. I hope that GD cut the pyro acts, it didn't float my boat and I though it was kind of lame. sorry. Especially because it was in an indoor venue.
