iLozza! Posted February 24, 2009 Posted February 24, 2009 I got shitloads of stuff this year that was GD related. I got shoelaces, a calendar, BIAB, Nimrod, ISH, 1039 SOSH, Kerplunk!, Dookie, a dookie t-shirt, live wtihout warning and international supervideos.Too bad I was only 8 back in 05
Princess Consuela Posted February 24, 2009 Posted February 24, 2009 yeah definately one of their best videos.Agree.
Starbug Posted February 24, 2009 Posted February 24, 2009 I thought "Man, that's an ugly car"Which one? The one they were driving? Yes, indeed, it was I just remembered! Another great memory!Christmas of 07! My brother and future sis in law at the time got me this BIG gift, and every time they'd mention it, they'd just griiiin. It was driving me apeshit, naturally. I like surprises, just not when I KNOW about them, and don't know what they are lol Mom wrapped it for them, and said, "Yeah, trust me, you'll like it..." cause I was worried that they got me this big present, and was all proud of it, but then I'd open it, and try to hide the disappointment on my face lol Anyway, I finally open it and I catch sight of red and black, and know immediately they bought me a throw. The big one w/ the hand grenade on it? I nearly shat myself and fell back in it, that's one of those things I always wanted, but would never buy because they're, like, 60 bucks. When I took it out of the box, I was shaking. Best. Gift. Ever.
Starbug Posted February 24, 2009 Posted February 24, 2009 a throw?A blanket I guess it's more of a blanket than a throw, because it's big enough to cover all of me and not just my lap. But everyone calls it a throw lol

Nimrod99 Posted February 24, 2009 Posted February 24, 2009 Here's another GD memory of mine. My first concert ever (Green Day Insomniac, 1995) and so I was thinking that I outta do something special. It was a period in my life where I was figuring out who I was, and so I decided I was going to dye my hair (my mom would have shit herself if I did something permanent, so I had to do a spray in/wash out one time use thing). So I go all wild with it and I dyed my hair 3 different colors. I was so excited about it because I've never seen it done before. I go to the show (fucking amazing and life changing) and then that night when I got home I go and I wash the hair dye out... SONOFABITCH! I didn't follow the directions right, and now I got bright orange, neon green, and purple hair. That shit didn't come out for about a month. My mom was pissed. lol.
minority0223 Posted February 24, 2009 Posted February 24, 2009 i wasnt even born when dookie came out. i was 2 with nimrod, 6 with warning, 7 with shenanigans and 9 with AI. i had no idea who gd was. except, i heard boulevard of broken dreams on the radio once and i just remember feeling really bad for the guy that sang it lol

But other than that, I've never dyed my hair in the name of Green Day. Nothing crazy. I've always wanted to, though. Put like red, purple, or blue streaks in my hair. Maybe one day, if I can get up the courage. Funny, I've permanently scarred myself on the ankle for this band, but won't change my hair color lol

I'm thinking of doing that again soon. Maybe when they start touring? As for the tattoo, I like the idea of a Kerplunk flower, but I'm too chicken. Low tolerance for pain.

My mom was really weird at the time, and so I pretty much needed an excuse to do anything of that sort. All of my friends at school (which was probably about 6 people lol) liked it haha. I used to put a bluish green streak on my bangs all the time. I stopped doing it after I graduated from college though. Oh well, gotta grow up a little sometimes. What'd you do to your ankle? I've got permanent scars, but not due to Green Day... I got them mainly because of my iguana. lol.

I knew I wanted it, and if it was just permanently drawn on w/ magic marker I would've done it in a heartbeat But Amanda, the one who has a matching one, was just like "Do it! Just do it! Don't change your mind, just DO IT!" and I did it. And yeah, it hurt, but it wasn't NEARLY as bad as I expected. Just more annoying than anything lolIt was my excuse to dye my hair. I don't know if I'd ever get a Green Day one (I might, but it'd probably be something not so obvious to anyone who sees it), I do want to get one of my horse(s) though. Pickles... wasn't that the name of the mom from the Oblongs?

hardtoconcentrate Posted February 24, 2009 Posted February 24, 2009 I don't qualify for this thread...it's only been 9 years of fandom from me. Cool topic though
Starbug Posted February 24, 2009 Posted February 24, 2009 This thread isn't about who are the better fans. We're ALL Green Day fans, whether it's been for 1 year, 6 months, or 15+ years. This thread is just to celebrate the fact that we were there close to the beginning, that we've been devoted for sooo long, because that's a lotta years, really. And I hope no one comes in here feeling like we're bragging, or trying to be superior. We're special, just in a different way. Green Day is special. And that's something we can all agree on, I think hehe

It's not about being a better fan (a fan is a fan in my opinion), it's just something that makes you feel a little extra special to be able to experience the older stuff.
SynthwaveTrooper Posted February 24, 2009 Author Posted February 24, 2009 All Green Day fans are Welcome to be in here.

Nimrod99 Posted February 24, 2009 Posted February 24, 2009 Am I the oldest Old Fart here? Dammit! It's not about the physical age my friend, it's about the mental age. And I fart all the time . I have a friend that is old enough to be my mom, but when you get us together, we act like fricken teenagers all over again. Oh, there's another GD memory... both of us listening to Warning the day it came out. Man, I miss her :/ , she moved to Texas about a year ago.
