Tiffx Posted January 29, 2009 Posted January 29, 2009 Come on over Tiffx we'll find room for ya Haha thanks .
hardtoconcentrate Posted January 29, 2009 Posted January 29, 2009 They're not headlining Oxegen - that's got announced today, plus that article in the NOTW only said they were in talks.Well Oxegen always has 3 headliners, one for each day of the weekend. I'd much rather see them at a stadium show than a festival though. I've been to Oxegen every summer for the last 5 years and I'm hoping to give it a miss this year! It's getting too expensive. Plus, I've already seen Kings of Leon 4 or 5 times now so I can afford to miss out this time around. Can't believe they're at Oxegen for the 3rd year in a row!Edit: Oh, I'm just noticing now that the other headliners have been announced too. Killers and Snow Patrol.....no thanks.
Nova-Caine Posted January 29, 2009 Posted January 29, 2009 The Killers have also done 3 years worth of festivals now.I'd rather see GD in their own setting tbh cos i know im going to be a bit emotional when they take to the stage for the first time over here
Guitar4Girl Posted January 29, 2009 Posted January 29, 2009 I would of thought they'd do a tour in the US first?I think I'd rather see Green Day at their own show, but I'd still go to Reading if they're playing...
Hermione Posted January 29, 2009 Posted January 29, 2009 I would of thought they'd do a tour in the US first?Didn't they tour the UK before the US with American Idiot? I could be wrong.
Guitar4Girl Posted January 29, 2009 Posted January 29, 2009 I don't know, I wasn't really into them that much until a little after the UK tour; so this will be the first time ever I see them in concert...
Hermione Posted January 29, 2009 Posted January 29, 2009 ^Ha same here . But on youtube there's vids of UK concerts from early 2005, and US concerts from mid-late 2005, so I'm just going on that.

Velocity Posted January 29, 2009 Posted January 29, 2009 Green Day played a few shows in the UK before American Idiot was released. Then they toured the US and Canada in fall of '04, did a world tour that winter, toured the US in the spring of '05, then another international tour, another US tour in summer/fall, and then ended their touring with Australia. I'm pretty sure that's how it went So, I'm guessing they'll do something similar. Maybe not as big though, unless this new album becomes as popular as American Idiot was.
Mommy's Little Nightmare Posted January 29, 2009 Posted January 29, 2009 They toured the US at the end of '04.Yeah, that's true. I remember that they had a show and in-store signing in NY on my 16th birthday that year.

Man that's a lot of dates!I don't think I'd mind the UK going second really, it'll be quite cool to hear what the shows are like first so we have something to make our mouths water.
Isabel Posted January 30, 2009 Posted January 30, 2009 I've been hearing loads of rumours for Green Day headlining oxegen, if there true, I might just die of happiness!I think I'll maintain my Oxegen routine again this year. Stalk them in Dublin and meet Billie Joe. Wouldn't be bothered going to the festival though, especially if they do their own headline show.Eh, ok I really have to start reading threads fully before I reply....ok so scrap that entire post
Katarina. Posted January 30, 2009 Posted January 30, 2009 I just can't believe Green Day is going to play at shows and concerts soon!
Peace and Rainbows Posted January 30, 2009 Posted January 30, 2009 Yes! I just hope nothing bad happens at reading, last time they played they ddin't get hurt but there was all the other bands like Panic at the disco and MY chem who got thrown a ton of bottles at

It amazes me how they get bottled off and then Green Day goes up there and pulls off an insane performance with the whole crowd singing along, especially the beginning of Basket Case. Check it out if you haven't seen it before!
Hermione Posted January 30, 2009 Posted January 30, 2009 Anyone who throws bottles at a festival is a complete and utter moron. It'd never happen to Green Day though, they've been playing Reading for years and they own any crowd.
