Celes Chere Posted July 7, 2008 Posted July 7, 2008 I know they have a lot of humour and wit in them and they sound upbeat, but most Green Day songs have quite dark themes below the surface. If you look at the lyrics they're usually far from happy!OMG! I told you a million times that I don't care about the lyrics!I like to see a song as a whole.Out of curiousity, wich songs?
Ila Reto Posted July 7, 2008 Posted July 7, 2008 Out of curiousity, wich songs? panic song, 86, babsuvulawho, reject, prostetic head, etc.
Celes Chere Posted July 7, 2008 Posted July 7, 2008 panic song, 86, babsuvulawho, reject, prostetic head, etc.those songs make me happy, they are in my favorites of green day makes me wanna jump, not cry.
Hermione Posted July 7, 2008 Posted July 7, 2008 OMG! I told you a million times that I don't care about the lyrics!I like to see a song as a whole.Out of curiousity, wich songs? Well I assumed when you said funny you meant the lyrics, sorry. Which songs? Umm, most of them! Yeah, they've got happy songs and a few just completely funny ones, but a lot are negative overall. Take any song on Insomniac, Dookie, or possibly Nimrod as an example. There's a mix of happiness, sadness, anger, depression and every other emotion. Example - Basket Case sounds happy and upbeat, but the lyrics are about panic attacks. Geek Stink Breath is catchy, but it's about drug addiction.Anyway, this is only an opinion, we can both feel free to enjoy the songs however we want
Ila Reto Posted July 7, 2008 Posted July 7, 2008 ^ ^makes me wanna jump around too, but that doesnt mean the original thought put into those lyrics didn't mean anything deeper. meh, i guess it all how people look at things. no-one is wrong here.
Hermione Posted July 7, 2008 Posted July 7, 2008 those songs make me happy, they are in my favorites of green day makes me wanna jump, not cry.Yeah actually I can see where you're coming from there. Some of their songs might have sad lyrics, but they make me happy cause they're fun to sing and dance around to. I suppose each song has a different effect on each person.
chickin'pickin' Posted July 7, 2008 Posted July 7, 2008 'A song is defined by the individual' - Some dude who was right.
Celes Chere Posted July 7, 2008 Posted July 7, 2008 I'm not sayng that they're not deep, I'm just saying that the tunes are funny and will NEVER make me cry, just jump a lot Yeah actually I can see where you're coming from there. Some of their songs might have sad lyrics, but they make me happy cause they're fun to sing and dance around to. I suppose each song has a different effect on each person.yeah, exactly

Hermione Posted July 7, 2008 Posted July 7, 2008 ^Yeah I agree. He's always totally truthful and honest in his lyrics. I think that's what makes them such amazing songs - they're from the heart
adelineidiot Posted July 7, 2008 Author Posted July 7, 2008 yes!! not only sexy, they havethe most honest heart in the f***ing world
Celes Chere Posted July 7, 2008 Posted July 7, 2008 well, it's just that I don't listen to American Idiot, that's why for me they're funny, that's why I love them.
Khaleesi. Posted July 7, 2008 Posted July 7, 2008 Good Riddance was playing during my graduation, and I almost cried. Not because Green Day was playing.. but because I was leaving all my friends behind and moving forward in my life.
adelineidiot Posted July 7, 2008 Author Posted July 7, 2008 I have to admit tht american idiot was a superhit, but it was hard to accept it for green day's ''oldies''(fans of green day's pre-american idiot)
Celes Chere Posted July 7, 2008 Posted July 7, 2008 yeah, well I became a fan in 2001, and did not knew them before, I used to confuse them with Cypress Hill I was about to buy the AI album 'til I heard Boulevard of Broken Dreams and then Wake Up Dead Man and refused
Guest laurarols Posted July 7, 2008 Posted July 7, 2008 hhahahah back in my younger days... yes i have cried LOLbut now im like ehhh. whenever i see them on tv i tend to start to miss them.

adelineidiot Posted July 7, 2008 Author Posted July 7, 2008 Good Riddance was playing during my graduation, and I almost cried. Not because Green Day was playing.. but because I was leaving all my friends behind and moving forward in my life. yah,but it counts.when you listenit ,it remembers about your friends, isn't it? g.r. is now a part of your life
Boston Posted July 7, 2008 Posted July 7, 2008 No, I've never gotten emotional over Green Day. Then again, I've never seen them play.
Fuzz Posted July 7, 2008 Posted July 7, 2008 When we were in line to watch the Foxtubs in Phoenix, once the guys went on stage to warm up there was this girl (i'd say she was 21-ish) sitting outside and she started crying. She looked up and said "sorry, i'm just really emotional about all this. these guys mean everything to me, they've been there through everything with me. and now they're right here playing. That's them."It was cute.
OliDayyy Posted July 7, 2008 Posted July 7, 2008 I cried a lot when they have cancelled their show in Paris. I wanted to see them so bad... And I still want to see them so bad
FilmAdaptation Posted July 7, 2008 Posted July 7, 2008 Never cried to any music because of the music. I've been a bit sad and listened to music at the same time though (although it wasn't to Green Day).
