Aurora Posted August 22, 2009 Posted August 22, 2009 I cried after Billie started singing Song of the Century at the Philly show and saw the band. I just got so overwhelmed by knowing that they were so close and and playing live, not just listening to a recording.
NowhereBound Posted August 22, 2009 Posted August 22, 2009 I get emotional when I hear Poprocks and Coke, and every once in a while I cry when I hear Good Riddance. But the times where I cry the most are when I see WMUWSE and Good Riddance on BIAB, and I also cried the first time I heard 21 Guns, when they played like 6 or 7 of their new songs on the radio.
!Viva La Analee! Posted August 22, 2009 Posted August 22, 2009 I cried my ass off watching WMUWSE on BIAB.me fucking too!
Maddy. Posted August 22, 2009 Posted August 22, 2009 me fucking too!me fucking three!yesterday I cried my eyes out to Whatsername too
colour_me_stupid_ Posted August 22, 2009 Posted August 22, 2009 When 21CB came out, it was a weekday, so I was in school. I signed my ass outta there early to go get it! Luckily my friend still has one of them portable CD players, remember them old things that were around before iPods, MP3 players, etc?So I went in the record shop, 21CB wasnt on any shelves, so I asked if they had it and I was told yes and I nearly jumped up and down in excitement! Got a few weird looks, haha.So I bought it and then I went down to where my dad works, went and sat in his car, and listened to 21CB for the first time. When 21st Century Breakdown came on, when I heard the intro, I got all teary. I was just so beyond joyful, it was incredible, just knowing that Green Day were back..!Green Day bring out a lot of emotions in me, mostly happiness, joy, etc. They also make me think "Fuck the world!", they can make me cry, make me think about people that I care about..I would a very different person if it wasnt for Green Day.
Juju Posted August 22, 2009 Posted August 22, 2009 I was listening to 21 Guns this morning in the car, and for some reason, I started crying.I've never cried during that song before. idk what happened. it just got to the part where Billie sings, "did you try to live on your own/when you burned down the house & homedid you stand too close to the fire/like a liar looking for forgiveness from a stone?" and there were tears in my eyes.
Sara. Posted August 22, 2009 Posted August 22, 2009 I cried the first time 21 guns was played on the radio. My dad's father died when he was a child, but I cried when I found out that he died when my father was 10 years old and that he died in september. It was just like Billie's father. The song have never been the same since then.
GreenDayHolic19 Posted August 22, 2009 Posted August 22, 2009 I cry when I hear Wake me up when september ends....I remember the sad times i went through when I first heard the song..and I also remember the sadness from Billie Joe`s eyes as he`s singing on BIAB
teddie Posted August 23, 2009 Posted August 23, 2009 I think I get emotional when I start thinking about all their songs as a whole, and all the different messages they've sent out. Like, Green Day is really a soundtrack to life, if you look at all the different things they sing about. I think I can relate to each and every single one of them in one way or another. I do get teary sometimes during different parts of American Idiot when I have a chance to just get absorbed in it, because at the time of it's release, I really latched on to it and it was just such a bigger, wider approach compared to the other Green Day albums. I don't know, the subject matter was just bigger than they've ever really written before, and the characters were so real to me. When I think of how their music impacted me and shaped me for the better, and how many lives they've touched, that's when I feel a lot of emotions at once.
AndrewW91 Posted August 23, 2009 Posted August 23, 2009 When 21CB came out, it was a weekday, so I was in school. I signed my ass outta there early to go get it! Luckily my friend still has one of them portable CD players, remember them old things that were around before iPods, MP3 players, etc? That preposterous! Portable CD players have been extinct for centuries!I cried at my first Green Day concert (St. Louis, Aug. 11, 2009).It was pretty emotional.
cris_spain Posted August 24, 2009 Posted August 24, 2009 I remember the first time I listened to Wake me up when september ends watching the videoclip. I cried. And when I just read the lyrics and knew well what the song was about and heard about Billie's father died I cried whilelistening the song 'cause happened the same with my dad. But usually if I get emotional over GD is happiness. When their new video is on TV or they appear after a loong time(for example when 21stCB just released they were suddenly everywhere) I just jump and things like that And right now whenever I see them on TV in an interview or any video my tears just fall because I think: "OMG, I'm watching them live in September, and just one month left!" Just to imagine that, I.... uff I can't explain <3
DistilledxSpirits Posted August 24, 2009 Posted August 24, 2009 When I heard they played JOS at the show the other night (they haven't been playing it much lately) I was so happy that I cried.
Adie22 Posted August 24, 2009 Posted August 24, 2009 I get emotional a lot about Green Day. Mostly excitement and stuff, or emotions the songs bring out- you all know how that goes. The most emotional time though was at the end of the Houston concert. I was standing right where Mike was (centered in front of his mic) and the security guy was an ass and wouldn't let me have the picks that Mike kept tossing towards us. So at the end of the concert, after Mike and Tre left, I caught something on the side stage and turned to look and found Mike standing there, waving to me. I waved back, and he smiled then tapped the security guy (or stage manager or whatever the guy was) and handed him something, the started pointing to me, and I gave him a questioning look and pointed to myself and he nodded, so I started to wave to get the guys attention. He finally saw me and and handed me a pick, and Mike watched for my reaction. My friend actually ended up giving me a pick earlier on that he had caught (since I'm the bigger fan), but Mike hadn't seen it, and he wanted to make sure I got one. It was such a little gesture, but it meant the world to me (especially considering how Mike is my personal hero in many many ways). I was almost crying from happiness at the end. Lame, I know, but I couldn't help it. The security guard in front of me seemed pissed about it, after going to such length to keep me from getting a pick. Heh, served him right. Asshole.Awww how sweet!! I get very emotional over Green Day, and that too very often. I've never felt so attached to any band. Even seeing those Youtube videos -that are shot by fans in recent concerts - make me very emotional as I am amazed at them coz they are such great performers. I feel jealous (lol) of the fans that get pulled up and get to hug Billie and sing or play the guitar. What makes me sad is the fact that I may never get to go to a Gree Day concert, thanks to where I live.
Rae'n'shine Posted August 24, 2009 Posted August 24, 2009 I cried the first time I heard 21 Guns. It was the most beautiful song I'd heard in a while, and Billie's falsetto gave me chills. Also during my first Green Day concert on the 21st. When they came out, I teared up because I was so excited and had waited to see them for the past 5 years. I don't even remember the first half of 21CB because I was in shock that I was actually there. Then, at the end of 21 Guns and I had tears spilling out of my eyes during Last Night on Earth. Yeah, it was an emotional night for me, but the best one ever. I still can't get over the fact that I saw them.
colour_me_stupid_ Posted August 24, 2009 Posted August 24, 2009 That preposterous! Portable CD players have been extinct for centuries!Nuh-uh! =]

colour_me_stupid_ Posted August 25, 2009 Posted August 25, 2009 This morning I was listening to See the Light, and I just got really.. excited and happy, cause I adore that song, and I just started thinking about October 21st.. Im probably gonna cry there! hahaLast Night on Earth makes me think about someone in particular..
CrimsonSheep Posted August 25, 2009 Posted August 25, 2009 I heard the BIAB version of BOBD (if that's enough acronyms for ya) last night. Just hearing the crowd screaming along with them sent chills up my spine. If I ever accomplish my goal of seeing them in concert, I know I'm gonna break down in a very, very good way.
Penguin Puffball Posted August 25, 2009 Posted August 25, 2009 Well, The Static Age, Holiday, and American Idiot make me wanna jump through my window and yell "fuck you" to the sky.And 21 Guns and Paper Lanterns make me cry.
TaylorKlinke Posted August 30, 2009 Posted August 30, 2009 All of my friends keep telling me how obsessed I am with Green Day. I know I shouldn't - but I care what people think of me and it's starting to make me feel bad. You know, I've had low self-esteem since I was 12 years old. I've had such a hard time growing up and I'm shy so I have a hard time meeting people sometimes. When I was in 8th grade I was known as "the loner" at school...I sat by myself at lunch, etc. I had off and on "friendships" with my "friends" from 7-12 grade. They ditched me often, but when I was in 9th grade I discovered Green Day and I guess they've sort of become like a medication to my life. Listening to their music makes me so happy - and I love the story of how they came to be. They didn't give up even when times were tough for them. And yeah, I may have a lot of Green Day posters up on my wall, I may listen to their music a lot, I may talk about them a lot........but I don't know, it's just like they've always been there for me. In a way...
Dookie93 Posted August 30, 2009 Posted August 30, 2009 The first time I heard Time Of Your Life I cried, don't know why I just did
Sharmellow Posted August 30, 2009 Posted August 30, 2009 I was listening to 21 Guns this morning in the car, and for some reason, I started crying.I've never cried during that song before. idk what happened. it just got to the part where Billie sings, "did you try to live on your own/when you burned down the house & homedid you stand too close to the fire/like a liar looking for forgiveness from a stone?" and there were tears in my eyes.Yeah, that actually happens to me as well. It catches me off guard actually. There's something about the way he sings those very lyrics. In the whole entire song, those are my favorite lines.
Rbka Posted August 30, 2009 Posted August 30, 2009 I hope they don't ever pull me on the stage because I would surely cry and that would be embarrassing.
Astrid. Posted August 30, 2009 Posted August 30, 2009 I said no earlier in this thread but I forgot about a hard time years ago. Christie Road made me cry like a baby
