Hermione Posted January 23, 2009 Posted January 23, 2009 I dont think it is cheesy, I think it sounds cheesy. I agree though that music enhances your life.Haha, I suppose I'm bad at detecting the sound of cheesiness then. I thought what you said was quite touching, it's amazing how a simple song can have that kind of effect.

chewychorizo Posted January 23, 2009 Posted January 23, 2009 ^say it loudddd.I get emotional over foo's, red hot chilli's and stuff...just not Green Day.
Juan Posted January 23, 2009 Posted January 23, 2009 I don't, however I'm very aware that Green Day made my life get a turnaround Thanks to them I discovered rock music and for that I'm very grateful and that's the reason why they still stand as my favorite band
Nele Posted January 23, 2009 Posted January 23, 2009 Naw. I get emotional over real things.Same here.
badwolf Posted January 24, 2009 Posted January 24, 2009 yes. they make me happy during bad times. they make me feel free!
amy_runs Posted January 24, 2009 Posted January 24, 2009 Emotion doesn't just have to be sad. Green Day makes me happy
14razorbacks Posted January 24, 2009 Posted January 24, 2009 i typed a really long post here that was all completely true... i edited and deleted it a few hours later just 'cos I decided I don't actually want to be sharing it on the internet. anyone who read it will understand - emotional times.but to answer the question... yes. very. they help me so, so much and i just feel pathetically grateful to them.
Naked and Famous Posted January 25, 2009 Posted January 25, 2009 I have to say I'm quite grateful for them as well ~ They've had a profound impact on my life for a good many yearsCrying, though?I cried when I was 13 at their post-Nimrod tour, during Good Riddance; I remember thinking "noooo, it can't be over!!"And I cried a lil when I was 15, at Warped Tour, & had just realized I was standing "backstage", about 5ft away from Billie Joe ~ MxPx came up to me & asked if I was ok lolAnd Wake Me Up When September Ends gets me a lil choked up anytime I sit & really listen to it ~ It hits a little too close to home, & the whole feeling behind it is portrayed very well, musically, vocally, & lyrically
Guest Hayley Posted January 25, 2009 Posted January 25, 2009 I used to get emotional over GD but no longer.
Mrs. Nobody Posted January 25, 2009 Posted January 25, 2009 I used to, and i'm sure it will come back.but i can get emotional over weird shit.
Freeny Posted January 25, 2009 Posted January 25, 2009 this spring rumors and stuff got to me so I thought that Green Day would just start touring with Foxboro Hot Tubs and never go back to Green Day... so I was very upset about that, because I've always wanted to see them live and I thought I'd never have the chance to.
Astrid. Posted January 25, 2009 Posted January 25, 2009 I'm not that emotional to start crying or things like that over a song by Green Day or any other band. Laughing on the other hand happened on a regular basis They make me feel happy
BilliesWillie Posted January 25, 2009 Posted January 25, 2009 if its true that green day is pretty much everyone's favorite band in here, i think anyone who said they didn't get emotional in some way is lying to themselves. "emotional" doesn't just mean shedding a tear or something, to me its just a deep connection with what you're hearing. that said, I'm pretty sure I'll shed a couple the next time I hear JOS live. talk about a powerful song...
gmcloughlin Posted January 25, 2009 Posted January 25, 2009 Emotion doesn't just have to be sad. Green Day makes me happyThank you. Someone finally said it

Not all people listen very closely to a song or feel some sort of connection. They interpreted a song the way they want it to be not the way it is 'supposed' to be according to the theme of the song/album. Everyone interpreted a song different, I know that, but once you know the theme you listen the song different than you did before. You start discovering things which you didn't saw before. And that is, for me though, a turning point where I can get emotional, not crying or so but it gets some sort of meaning to me
punkfunkdisco Posted January 25, 2009 Posted January 25, 2009 I'm always getting emotional over little things, but when I realised that it was Kathleen Hanna singing at the start of 'Letterbomb' I got emotional because both GD and Kathleen have meant so much to me in my life and her appearing on one of their songs was overwhelming for me.

It's about Kathleen Hanna, and sung by Billie Joe although he didn't write the lyrics. It's a brilliant song, and another little link between them so you might find it interesting. Check it out if you haven't already:http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lFbdR4UYmUw

Who wrote the lyrics?
