Reject16 Posted July 17, 2008 Posted July 17, 2008 Green Day songs get me to thinking about things that I never dreamed about thinking of :/I would say Wake Me Up When September Ends, but Waiting never fails to get my tears flowing because I've gone through tough shit in my life (who hasn't?) and now things are clearing up a bit
Strychnine Fink Posted July 17, 2008 Posted July 17, 2008 it always seems like when I'm either really happy or really sad, I'll turn on the radio and Good Riddance will be playing-it's weird. And when I'm having a crappy time and that happens I get emotional sometimes cos for me that song is saying that things are gonna get better...haha even though that's really not the theme of the song.
Guest give me novacaine-jos Posted July 17, 2008 Posted July 17, 2008 Yesterday i realised that every moment of my life have close ties with GD songs.
iamtheju Posted July 17, 2008 Posted July 17, 2008 i dont know why, but i find that Green Day songs dont have the thickness(in texture) to make me emotional.I think of Green Day songs as being light and fun. mabye it's because they're a three-piece (sort of. lol)I need the music to fill up my head with interesting sounds before it'll do anything. loli'm not a fan of Good Riddance :/
Hermione Posted July 17, 2008 Posted July 17, 2008 ^ Sorry, but when I read 'thickness', it made me look like this:
Starbug Posted July 17, 2008 Posted July 17, 2008 Nah, I wasn't saying him singing it at the end of the concert made it appropriate for funerals... I meant that when people use it at graduations and wedding and blah blah and she said (I thought) that they heard the I hope you had the time of your life bit and thought it was appropriate for graduations and stuff... yeah... in my own head, the logic is there...
Aramos Posted July 17, 2008 Posted July 17, 2008 Got chocked up about good riddance when i was breaking up with my girlfriend
Lizzie.B Posted July 17, 2008 Posted July 17, 2008 Yes all the time when I listen to "Wake me up when September ends"! There is such a lot of emotion just captured in that one song!
slappy33 Posted July 17, 2008 Posted July 17, 2008 after i got a guitar pick from michael and a kiss blown to me from tre
Snorri Posted July 17, 2008 Posted July 17, 2008 i've got emotional, but i've not cried... but i always get emotional and feel so sorry for billie for losing his father when i watch wake me up when september ends from bullet in a bible
iamtheju Posted July 17, 2008 Posted July 17, 2008 ^ Sorry, but when I read 'thickness', it made me look like this: Why's that? didn't you do music at school? i'd say it's a pretty standard term. or are you saying i was wrong to use it? compare most green day songs to most muse songs; how would you describe the difference in texture?
BillieMikeAndTre Posted July 17, 2008 Posted July 17, 2008 I always feel sad and end up crying during biab's wake me up when september ends and the music video cause they didn't really do a good job and didn't use the point the song was about...
GreenDaymaniac2000 Posted July 18, 2008 Posted July 18, 2008 i cried alot in nobody likes you book and i can barley listen too wake me up when september endsbecause it just means way too much to me!
Ila Reto Posted July 18, 2008 Posted July 18, 2008 Why's that? didn't you do music at school? i'd say it's a pretty standard term. or are you saying i was wrong to use it? compare most green day songs to most muse songs; how would you describe the difference in texture?woah calm down there buddy. if i know hermione enough, the word "thickness" to her meant...well i uh, and i have not read the Nobody Likes You book, but i find i thard to cry from just reading a book....wait no i take that back, i cried when i read The Outsiders, but that's it. Well, we'll see if and when i buy the book then.
Laura33 Posted July 18, 2008 Posted July 18, 2008 I get emotional quite a bit to be honest. I sometimes find myself sticking Green Day on shuffle and just lying on my bed and listening. There are so many lyrics that remind me of things in my life that have nothing to do with them but they envoke some kind of memory. There are so many songs reminds me of shit me and my best mate have done when listening to 'em. Like listening to Blood Sex and Booze before going in to our year 9 SAT's and getting wrong off our teacher for not revising, him quickly learning to play DLS on his guitar to cheer me up when my Granda had a heart attack, me and him skipping college to buy BIAB and watch it at his house, us at a house party and hijacking the CD player and stuck in my GD mix CD we had for the car...etc Then there is now, I am listening to The Warfild bootleg for the second time today and I keep thinking back to 2005 and how awesome that years was. GD was everythere we were seeing 'em live, I was moving from High school to college and I met some amazing people. 2005 has definitely been my fav year so far. Then there are the people I have met because of Green Day, Erin, one of my best friends, I met her on the interwebs first and now I fly over to Ireland to see her and she comes here, she is like my other half. People from this board, Jax, Sharon etc, they are the most amazing and genuinely lovely people ever. And all of the peeps I haven't met ..yet, who change my life every day in such small and tiny ways.I wouldn't have none of that if I wasn't a Green Day fan...weird. So yeah, I get a likkle emotional sometimes XD*rant of sap over*
Waffles Posted July 18, 2008 Posted July 18, 2008 I like listening to Green Day when I'm mad or happy. When I'm sad I like to listen to tunes like The Weepies,The Shins or Radiohead
GrEeNdAyMaNiAc Posted July 18, 2008 Posted July 18, 2008 I am a very emotional person....And i am connected to green day emotionally.....Whenever i listen to Jesus of suburbia i really get so damn emotional...as it clearly reflects my life and the stuff thats happening in my life.....wake me up in BiaB also really touches my heart......it really shows the honesty of billie joe in his work...The guy means every single word he writes...and thats what makes billie joe "BILLIE JOE" and his band "GREEN DAY".....Give me novacaine also makes me quite emotional.....billie joe has given some really exceptional vocals in it....For me Green day is not just a band...its my life.....i may not literally cry or get emotional , but from inside i am really linked to their music.....
Jack96 Posted July 18, 2008 Posted July 18, 2008 i cried alot in nobody likes you book and i can barley listen too wake me up when september endsbecause it just means way too much to me!i dont have that book
