To play devil's advocate, I'm sure if it were Lindsay Lohan you'd all be saying "stupid bitch deserves it".

No, I don't think it's right to point the finger at a select few people for something hundreds of thousands of people have done, just because they're famous. It's just not fair

I just used her as an example because it was more recent and she seems to be in mags a lot of the time. I am sure in 5 years her DUI (and probably Lindsey herself XD) will be forgotton about

I'm happy to see that the author of the article has sense at least.

I'm totally opposed to breathalyzers being in cars too, but those guys are targeting the wrong people.

But I wonder if the American Beverage Institute knows about Billie's Lushotology connections. Maybe it's better that they don't

They should show shit like this: click

Only take the picture immediately at the scene.

Meh , he drunk and he drove. that's his fault.

^ No doubt, but I think the main thing people are taking issue with is if he really deserves to be labeled as a "hard-core drunk driver" for one mistake five years ago.

This thread is making me want to drink for some reason.

I think that they should shut the fuck up and find someone else to pick on. How sad are they to use a story so old,I mean it's ok to try to stop accidents but would they even have mentioned Bille Joe at all if they wern't trying to be shit stirring little twallops.

wtf? He had 1 DUI and he's been good with the law ever since. They totally should have used someone else.

That was the reaction I was expecting from the majority of posters in this thread.

Glad I didn't dissapoint ya then.

I see what you mean but I don't really think you can compare Lindsay lohan to billie joe...... Lindsay purposely is looking for attention.

That's not really fair, now...

It's stupid regardless of whose pictures they use.

Obviously, Billie Joe made a mistake, and it's totally indefensible and was an irresponsible action (especially being a father...) but there's really no need to target a person for one such mistake versus giving accounts of the harm it's done in general - and I really don't understand what they're trying to do with the pictures when they want to legalize some kind of drinking and driving...

if they're going to use a musician how about scott weland.

he's got about 3.

yea dont pick on billie

I don't think they have chosen just one person. Especially one who's done it only once, 5 years ago. It was wrong that he did and shit, but what about people who have done it multiple times? What about people who have killed people from drunk driving?

Drunk driving at all is stupid obviously, but it's dumb to single one person out for a crime that's been commited by so many people.

And with the whole "hardcore drunk driver" thing or whatever it was, that was a bad exaggeration. He did it once, I'm sure it's not something he's proud of or anything. Plus, if I remember right, I heard he was cooperative and pulled over and went along like he should've. He was speeding is all. Bad, but yeah.

I dunno, it's just a stupid article.

My friend Brittany actually sent Booze Lobby an email.

It was:

Hey, I agree with the message and all, but I have to say that targeting Billie Joe Armstrong was pretty low. The guy was out drunk driving way back in 2003 and hasn't done it since. It's always bad to be out driving with a high BAC, but to continuously have it brought up again after it happened is ridiculous.

Take a look at all the wonderful things he has done to improve society- all the charities he's participated in for the Tsunami victims of Indonesia and the Hurricane Katrina victims. He played for Live 8- which is working to end poverty. He's played with Instant Karma- which is working to stop the genocide in Darfur. He's been working with NRDC to bring about better environmental actions.

His message is being spread out all over the planet, and you look at a DWI and accuse this man of being a "hard-core drunk driver" because of one offence? Do you have any idea how ridiculous that is? How misleading it is? Not to mention that it happened 5 years ago. That’s double (and a half) the statute of limitation.

I suggest next time you want to get the point across, choose people whose records are a bit more tainted than that of Billie Joe Armstrong.

Tell ya mate from me that she is the best.

Yeah, I agree with your friend. If you give people totally base, they're going to respond with totally base, and it's the lowest actions which bring in the most attention.

That's perfect. Beautiful :)

Hell, I'd settle for getting drunk WITH a celebrity.
