xXTattooed_MemoriesXx Posted January 10, 2006 Posted January 10, 2006 sorry if i sound offensive, but I don't think you have the right to say that Warning doesn't "stand on its own merits as a GD album" When Green day started all this, 16 years ago, they didn't come out and say, "We are punk. Our music is punk. Our music is going to stay the same, and so are we, for the rest of our career." Every single goddamned album is different. Every one. Just because they tried soemthing a lot different doesn't mean, it's bad. Just because something isn't like every other GD albums, doesn't mean it doesn't stand up to "GD standards" They neevr set standards for their music, and neither should you as a fan. Just respect everything they put out, and enjoy it. If you like some more than others, state it exactly as that. I agree completely. I don't think it can be better said than that.
justcause Posted January 10, 2006 Author Posted January 10, 2006 I read your post, and I don't want to burn you at the stake. seems like what your saying now, reflects differentlu upon your first post. :/ I'm glad you feel that way - I wasn't trying to slag off Green Day - Billie is fucking God to me, and I'd hate anyone to think otherwise. I've spent a lot of time on this forum talking about what a great songwriter he is, and why, his lyrics, and the band generally. There's no-one else like them, and they totally rock my world. K? Me and Green Day - couldn't be without them. I just thought it would be interesting if we could start to discuss their earlier stuff and their different progressions, and if you look at my post, I gave glowing praise to more than half of the album. When people are trying out new stuff, not everything they produce in the course of that will be great. That doesn't mean they shouldn't do it, but onc ethey put it out , it's there to be commented on. If you take someone seriously, if you love someone, they don't have to do everything right. jesus the rage guy Posted January 10, 2006 Posted January 10, 2006 warning is for me the way like i discover green day warning is the first green day song i know and i still love it this album always remind me of 'american idiot''...
Onthelongview Posted January 10, 2006 Posted January 10, 2006 my personal thoughts on warning is that its a good album its just not something that you hear and go "I WANT TO BUY A TICKET!" its still a great album its just not something you'd want to see live and also then its like "I can listen to this, or insomniac". One of my favorite songs is on warning though "Deadbeat Holiday"
RevolutionRegained Posted January 10, 2006 Posted January 10, 2006 go away. just like good riddance, i think warning was the most punk album theyve ever done.
relic Posted January 10, 2006 Posted January 10, 2006 i think warning was the most punk album theyve ever done. i concur. god i love that word. ok. to make this post seem worthwhile, to me it is punk because they didnt care what everyone else thought about it. they did what they wanted to do, not what everyone else wanted them to do. its not a question of whether it 'sounds' punk, but whether it is punk in how they made it and what they felt about it. and i admire that.
justcause Posted January 10, 2006 Author Posted January 10, 2006 I apologize if it sounded like i attacked you then. Well, thanx so much for saying so - I thought, oh shit, now evryone thinks I hate Green Day. So I'm so glad you understand.
Parley Posted January 10, 2006 Posted January 10, 2006 I thought, oh shit, now evryone thinks I hate Green Day. I didn't think that at all. I disagree with some of your views, but I thought you presented your ideas in an intelligent and thoughtful manner. A nice change of pace for this place. But I still think "Warning" is a great album.

But I still think "Warning" is a great album. Thanx - yours is the kind of response I was hoping for - I just thought it would be fun to debate the merits of one album versus another, maybe. The kind of debate where you know everyone's basically on the same side, i.e., we're all fans. My personal favourite is 'Insomniac', one that tends to divide the fans right down the middle. I've many times heard fans call it GD's worst album, and it never made me think they weren't fans. I argued quite a few into re-considering!
starbucksfreak Posted January 10, 2006 Posted January 10, 2006 i love that album...the punk thing about it was that it wasnt "punk" if u get what i mean....they probably knew that it wasnt punk but they still put it out.which makes it a punk album
kiwi_green_day Posted January 10, 2006 Posted January 10, 2006 who cares if it wasnt punk so what?..... its a cool album
Varda Posted January 10, 2006 Posted January 10, 2006 I strongly disagree I really love Warning, especially the lyrics. I think it was this album where Billie really got to his true writing style, for me often a big riddle to solve  I think he made the progress already by Nimrod, but it was not really finished then and when he wrote Warning you could see,at least it`s like this for me,that he was coming to it`s own in the style of writing lyrics.. and c'mon...everybody needs a little Blood,Sex Booze..

Pepsi and Coke Posted January 10, 2006 Posted January 10, 2006 funny that i just started listening to warning. They were just experimenting with different styles they could do. Experimenting is good. It actually turned out to be a great album too!

I found I wasn't playing it as much as all the other GD albums, so I got it out the other day and played a few times over, and those were the thoughts I had. It's interesting to see how other people feel about it - mostly positive, so far anyway. One or two doubters!
Guest citrus Posted January 10, 2006 Posted January 10, 2006 i thought church on sunday was written for his wife to persuade her not to leave him?
presidentgasman Posted January 10, 2006 Posted January 10, 2006 It was the fact that, that album wasn't punk, that made it such a good album.
Sazzrah Posted January 10, 2006 Posted January 10, 2006 Warning was the first Green Day album I heard - so it will always have a place in my heart - but then I do love thier punkier albums I think Warning is one of their best and an absolute classic - Waiting is my favourite Green Day song
Varda Posted January 10, 2006 Posted January 10, 2006 i thought church on sunday was written for his wife to persuade her not to leave him? yeah,it was at this time when he had a rough time with Adie
