Platypus2000 Posted January 16, 2024 Posted January 16, 2024 Is anyone else worried about the constant rehashing of old melodies? All of them just sound like mashed up versions of old songs or ripped off from other artists. Just realised Livin In The 20’s is just Oh Yeah on steroids 😂 3

Popular Post KarlAuerE12thSt Posted January 16, 2024 Popular Post Posted January 16, 2024 Guys it’s becoming almost impossible to invent new melodies that don’t sound like shit. It’s a limited number and art always trives trough inspiration. i think there was a mathematician that created every possible melody and just gifted it to humanity. It’s not about inventing new music. I don’t now about you guys but I tried it and mostly it sounded like shit. art imitates life and life imitates art. its a cycle that never ends and always inspires new generations or projects. so I basically don’t get the hate for a song that sounds like another 11 1

I’m only going off the teasers released today from them officially but literally everything I’ve heard off this album just sounds like something else 😂 I’m sure it’ll be enjoyable as a full listen but I’m worried replay value will be an issue. 1
GuitarPunk94 Posted January 16, 2024 Posted January 16, 2024 i just listened to the official teasers and well, i know they are just reeeally short song snippets but i am less hyped now (still hyped af of course) dont get me wrong, i am sure the songs will be awesome, but just from the snippets most of the song have a similar "sound", they sound too "same-ish" 1
That Dude Posted January 16, 2024 Posted January 16, 2024 Maybe the label wants me to get the l!@$ first and they will give me instructions on how to legally sh!@# it. Probably not, though. They haven't responded yet. 😄 10 minutes ago, Platypus2000 said: Is anyone else worried about the constant rehashing of old melodies? They can do what they want, but I think it shows a lack of creativity, instantly the hype dies down if everyone feels like they’ve heard it before. I think this will be forgotten about very very quickly. Not because of its quality, the production is excellent. But replay value (like games) is very much a factor now due to streaming etc. A band like Bring Me The Horizon (whatever you think of them) are about 5 years ahead of everyone else in terms of style, melodies, production and practically anything involving being an artist, so not really an excuse. But hey, if you enjoy listening to the same things over and over again, don’t let anyone stop ya ✌🏻 7 minutes ago, That Dude said: I was hoping for Father of All on Steriods so this is good news! The 99th revolution Posted January 16, 2024 Posted January 16, 2024 I feel like I'm not in the moral majority just by hearing the hate on foam around gdc 2

But the Saviors sound is awesome and I'm here for it. I bought three copies, which hasn't happened since American Idiot. I'm not crazy!!! 😄 2 1

Nothing HQ it was all from listening parties. It was a power trip from Liam that's all. Because I know Alissa or Khaleesi can't remember which one but said audio from listening parties were ok. Anyway. I'm back. Hey, just to clarify, I said "sharing stuff posted on social media is fine." I wasn't online over the weekend to know what went down, but it sounds like you offered a folder of download links, which is when it becomes an issue. If something is posted on Reddit or Instagram and you share a link to that public post, that's fine. But once you start offering your own private downloads of copyrighted materials (the songs), that seems to be a situation where we can get into trouble. Just relaying the message — I don't make the rules! I apologize if anything was unclear. 3 1 1
Christian's Inferno! Posted January 16, 2024 Posted January 16, 2024 I mean if there's a song that i think is pretty shit like Oh Yeah and the band decides to take elements from that song to make it into an actual good song, then I don't care if it sounds similar. As long as it's not taking the shit aspects of the song and giving it to the new track. Making a bad song into a good one is a good thing. Though I've not listened to Livin' in the 20s myself yet so idk if it is taking one of the more alright parts of the song or if it's borrowing one of the aspects that makes me dislike Oh Yeah 2

I'd rather hear the full version as intended with my studio headphones instead of hearing stuff that doesn't tell you the whole picture about the song. 1
alecandstuff Posted January 16, 2024 Posted January 16, 2024 This conversation is always so touchy within the Rock circles online. Creativity isn’t so one dimensional you have to be 100% original with everything you create, not only is that insane but that’s literally imposssible in little ways, whether you notice them or not, you are a combination of influences derived from the people you bump into throughout life, same applies to the creative human expression of music. Other genres do these things all the time, it’s for the best and it’s natural. Do we really think these lifelong musicians weren’t aware the structure is *sort of* similar to the most popular song from one of the 2000’s most popular artists? 🤣 4
Popular Post Clockwise Posted January 16, 2024 Popular Post Posted January 16, 2024 I firmly believe you shouldn’t let something sounding similar to something else get in the way of writing a good song. Whether that’s your own songwriting or someone else’s. 5
