Guest Posted January 13, 2021 Posted January 13, 2021 Did anyone else just find themselves watching all of Tre's antics through the whole video LOL? I can't wait for part 1, but somehow I am loathe to subscribe to anything on YouTube LOL.

greendepent Posted January 13, 2021 Posted January 13, 2021 So, it they always had the tendency to polish every detail possible. This video was filmed around 2 months before the final release and it shows clear differences with the songs we know. Last Ride In had a lot of elements that aren't present. The violins are different, and the song itself is longer too. Now I want even more a symphonic Green Day with this song on the set. Other songs are pretty much the same but they have some mixing differences, like a more metallic sounding snare in Hitchin a Ride. Jezz, this was really good!
pacejunkie punk Posted January 13, 2021 Author Posted January 13, 2021 I could watch hours and hours of these

jengd Posted January 13, 2021 Posted January 13, 2021 I SOOO want them to give us 19th NB and Alison, I love Billie Joe singing Alison with Elvis Costello. Haven’t had time yet to watch this but really glad to see it released.
MarriedtoMikeDirnt Posted January 13, 2021 Posted January 13, 2021 I think they should’ve left the weird solo violin part in Last Ride In. It wasn’t bad. I also disliked the original version of Last Ride In. It was boring, and there was an unholy amount of mic passing. It’s not a children’s orchestra; not everyone needs a solo. Especially that cacophony of a (I don’t even known what instrument that was) solo. That was terrible.
Montclare Posted January 13, 2021 Posted January 13, 2021 Interesting how they talk about the songs largely being done when they went into record, and not liking writing lyrics in the studio, when in Cuatro Billie pinpointed Nimrod as an album whose lyrics were still being written when they were recording it.

I think the assumption is that since it was unreleased, they had it kicking around/maybe tinkered from nimrod up through AI. They must have just not been happy enough with it to release it, I guess

I noticed that as well. I don’t trust anything Billie says anymore, he contradicts himself too much.
jengd Posted January 14, 2021 Posted January 14, 2021 Everyone remembers things differently, especially with the passage of time.

I would forgive him about remembering details with clarity. The video shows BJ pretty drenched, and with all his energy listening to the songs. He is the only one doing that, the rest is goffin around. Looking for the detail, or for another idea to fill a gap. Another thing is that he would hide any kind of detail that would suggest that he was having a bad time on studio, specially if that detail would air on TV. Cuatro is different because they directed that doc, and they had their status as band already, so he could be more honest with such statements. A "lyrical nightmare" would mean a lot of things besides "not written lyrics". Probably face them, maybe thinking they are too personal, too vulnerable, too relatable to sing about. We don't know. I'd bet he rewritten a lot of stuff to keep his head calm, and that's why would call those sessions in that way.

Maybe the "lyrical nightmare" was for Last ride in, so they decided to realase it intrumental

Guest Posted January 16, 2021 Posted January 16, 2021 Oh damn, part 1 is here now! Sorry, my week has been really busy and I totally spaced on this. Can't wait to watch it this weekend! Going back to part 1 for a sec, does anyone else think Billie should attempt that whole "wearing a dress with no underwear" thing again? 🙋♀️
Slave To The Network Posted January 16, 2021 Posted January 16, 2021 I definitely would love to see a behind the scenes of every record like this Nimrod one. So interesting! Except for fucking dragon shirt guy playing the shit out of Last Ride In.
That Dude Posted January 16, 2021 Posted January 16, 2021 I was just about to share this! always 18 minutes and a million dollars short. BLEEP! Anyway, the coolest thing I noticed was the track list with "Desensitized" between "Worry Rock" and "All the Time" and "Suffocate" between "Walking Alone" and "Uptight". Once those two were removed, a few songs were moved around to finalize the tracklist.
