dharmafox Posted October 6, 2016 Posted October 6, 2016 http://www.greendayauthority.com/tour/show/1856/ BOBD is actually played 4th, and holiday is played 3rd :C
Haushinka! Posted October 6, 2016 Posted October 6, 2016 I finally listened to the whole thing and wow, this just made my day! What made it so enjoyable to me was Howard's enthusiasm for the band. It was so refreshing to hear an interviewer that actually sounded interested in the band and loved their music. Hearing his reactions to their songs brought a smile to my face because it's exactly how Green Day fans feel! Plus, Howard is fucking hilarious. I laughed so hard throughout the interview which was another reason why it was so enjoyable! I loved when they started playing Brain Stew and Howard was like "That's a fucking killer riff. If a woman was here I would bang her to this." In regards to the performances, I thought they sounded great! Welcome to Paradise was my favorite. I noticed some people on here weren't too fond of the sound quality, but I actually prefer the more raw/demo-style feel. Overall, this was literally one of the best interviews I've ever heard with the band. So many awesome questions asked, and i'm happy they were able to go pretty in-depth with their past. Huge thumbs up to Howard!

Holiday now I think everyone at the Irving Plaza show can attest that the feeling is very much mutual there Quote On 10/5/2016 at 2:25 PM, Whatsername_123 said: I love that bit during the interview where Stern asks Billie if he'd write for other bands and Billie immediately said no! How blunt was that? I also liked the bit where Stern said GD are successful and Tre said handsome! But....hasn't Billie technically already written for other people? lol Like the song he did with the Go-Gos...and Penelope Houston...not counting the stuff with Iggy Pop, since that's still credited as Iggy + Green Day, but like what about stuff that's completely outside of the band, like The Quartos songs for These Paper Bullets and the L.E.S. Skunks songs for Ordinary World? These are both fictional bands, of course, but they still aren't Green Day... Don't know if it was formal vocal training but he clearly picked up some tips from there, for sure. I don't recall which interviews, but he did mention taking vocal lessons during the recording of American Idiot (the album) and he also received some additional vocal coaching during his stint as St. Jimmy for the play, which is why he was on point for AI, 21CB, and the trilogy. Of course, he also took voice lessons as a child, but, just like those lessons largely went out the window by the time he was recording stuff for Green Day, if he chose not to keep up on his training, he can easily backslide back to square one.
unextraordinarygirl Posted October 7, 2016 Posted October 7, 2016 I just finished listening to this and it was amazing! Great interview/talk w/Howard and crew and the live songs sounded great, especially Bang Bang!
Hermione Posted October 9, 2016 Posted October 9, 2016 This was so good! Really entertaining interview and a great live performance, especially enjoyed Holiday! As has been mentioned you can really hear how much respect Howard has for the band, it was great just hearing him talk about them with so much appreciation.
stories and songs Posted October 9, 2016 Posted October 9, 2016 I keep thinking about how cute it was when they talked about what a huge honor it was to be inducted into the Hall of Fame and how much they appreciate Grammys and stuff. A lot of entertainers act like they're too cool for that stuff. Obviously Green Day doesn't make music to win awards, but it's sweet that they really take it to heart and get excited when they're recognized.
spark in the night Posted October 9, 2016 Posted October 9, 2016 Just listened to the whole thing. Wow, howard got personal with their childhood dang. Part of it made me uncomfortable to listen to. But still a great interview! They were more serious and sounded like they had a good time. The Brain Stew part omg I agree with Howard, they all seem so damn healthy, happy, and refreshed. This is the best version of Green Day we've had yet! I agree with Tre, I like this Billie too
BUBBA7012 Posted October 11, 2016 Posted October 11, 2016 Been waiting to hear Green Day on Howard for a long time. Absolutely loved the performance and interview. Hopefully HowardTV releases video of this at some point, if that's still a thing. I know it used to be.

Jet Taman Posted October 21, 2016 Posted October 21, 2016 Sorry I dropped the ball on this...the night I was recording it I found out that a fellow teacher of mine that I've worked with for 18 years (she teaches 5th grade, I teach 4th grade) died of ALS. She had been battling it for the last year. It happened pretty quickly. A year and a half ago her hearing started mysteriously depleting. Then out of nowhere she just started to ...fall. Walking along perfectly and then right down on the ground right on her face. By the beginning of last school year she was in a electric wheel chair, had to take in oxygen during her planning and lunch time, and had to be miked in order to be heard as she taught. This past February she traveled to Boston to get some stem cell research done to help her. She was supposed to be back in March. She couldn't make it. She did show up on the last day of school for the 5th grade graduation and, as I've done for the past 18 years, I played "Time of Your Life" (it was a lot more relevant in 1999 when I played it during my first year of teaching!), but I dedicated it to her too. She was even too weak to give the kids fist bumps...her husband had to lift her hand up and do it for her. Her struggle ended that night that Green Day was on Howard. What was such a great day ended so sadly. Not to bring everyone down with my story, but she was very special to me, and I certainly seemed to talk a lot of shit about uploading the interview to YouTube to everybody. I just didn't want anyone to think I was bullshitting them. Sorry, guys.
