...yeah, not a fan of this one.

Why? :( I love all the songs about 80. Maybe that's why some people don't care for it. I think it's  silly and sweet

It is, that's the problem :P It's just badly written saccharine to me, the music grabbed me at first but its unabashed bounciness started to wear after a time.

The subject of a song has no bearing on whether I like it or not.  Billie has written some amazing songs about Adi, Church on Sunday is a brilliant song.  But while this songs melody is catchy and fun, the lyrics are just so over the top silly and stupid that it ruins the song for me.   I saw someone say something about this song, and I agree 100%, it makes him come off as insecure.   Real people in real relationships don't actually say this kind of shit to each other.

not my favorite, but a beautiful song about 80 and the vocal work on this song specifically is astounding. the vibratos are everywhere and it makes the song sound so good

Cheers to the only song with profanity on the record!

How would have thought the catchy love song would have been the one with the F-bomb?

This song is so much fun like i'm so into it and i just wanna rock out and drive to it. It's crazy how many people don't like this one that much to me. It's cute! But eh, differing opinions !

The middle bit "I wanna hold you like a gun" sounds Beatles-esque to me. I love it, what great bridge.

The way they sing "Young Blood" in the chorus sounds a lot like "Woads" in The Living End's "Raise The Alarm".

That bridge is the only thing I like at all in the song, but even then there's still the nothingy lyrics to detract from it.

I'm the same as @Scattered Wreck and @Libertine Angel. I love some of the songs he's written about her - Last Night on Earth, 80, When It's Time to name a few - but I'm not really bothered who they're about, so this one is just too silly and comes across as a lyrically lazy song to me. I might not think that way if it was on an FBHT album or something but it's such a contrast to the rest of this one.

I thought it had grown on me but then he fell into a hedge and said "fucking genius" and I promptly changed my mind again :P

Love this song, it better end up being in the setlist.

That being said.... (don't read on if you're not ready to uncomfortable)

young blood...... makes me associate Drama Queen

(She's old enough to bleed now)

I could happily live without that song.

Go to the lyric video and play it at different speeds.  Slowed down is pretty awesome.

What? Billie Joe? Insecure? Never ;)

Possibly the weakest song on the record. Catchy tune, cringey lyrics.

Billie Joe mentioned during the Sirius XM Town Hall that Youngblood was written during the 21st Century Breakdown days.

I really love this song and no matter how many times I try to convince myself that it's cheesy/it sucks, I can't stop listening to it. Catchy as hell.

My second favorite from the album! I don't care what people say, it's so funny and cute and it makes me dance a lot, which it's rare for me to dance haha, LOVE it, it sounds like The Beatles and Green Day did a song together and that makes me feel so happy

The song is really catchy. The only thing I dislike is the guitar tone at the beginning. Sounds a bit too 'pop' for my taste.

I guess I missed that part of the interview. It seems weird to me though that this didn't end up on the trilogy since apparently they were forcing material for it.

This isn't anywhere near my favorite song on the album, but it's not in my bottom 3 either. I will say that it's probably the catchiest, this is the song that gets stuck in my head the most

I actually adore this song right now. Grew on me so much.

"She's my weakness, fucking genius
Swear to god and I'm not even superstitious"

Love this line so much,  overall  great song.

In defence of this song, I wanted to say I wouldn't take the lyrics so seriously/literally. The fun thing about Youngblood is the fact that it's (in my opinion) not written from the 44-year-old-Billie's point of view, but from the young, wild, crazy Billie's point of view who fell into hedges  I think there's some sarcasm in that song, too. Today's Billie is joking about the Billie from back then, I think that's obvious. I'm absolutely a lyrics person and I love GD songs with deep, meaningful, political lyrics the most. But still this song has won my heart because it's so cute, honest and naive. Makes me feel nostalgic. Ah to be young again :D

Actually, I disagree 100%.  I don't think it is cute, honest and naive.  I think it comes across as a hallmark card.  The type of thing people that are insecure in their relationships say.  He has written some amazing, real and honest love songs.  In my opinion, this is just the opposite of it.
