This sounds a lot better on vinyl than YouTube.

I would say this would be my fav. track off the album.

I know this song is about Billie's addiction and rehabilitation, but as someone with pretty bad depression, I've never had such a strong connection with a song before.

It's funny how when I first heard this, it sounded so unlike Green Day in terms of instrumentation. At first, it really sounded like a different band to me. After (many) more listens and especially in context of the full album, it sounds EXACTLY like them. It's actually a brilliant representation of how their sound has evolved over the years. And even sitting in the middle of the album, it always catches me off guard. I can't help but get emotional over it no matter how many times I heard it, because the way its sung is just so powerful and meaningful. It's one of those songs that I can't even deem "my favorite" or anything like that because "favorite" doesn't portray all the emotion in the song...it's different than that. It's incredibly special to me.

@spider man. Cute new profile pic you've got there.

But doesn't Billie sound bored during the verses to anyone else?

In my eyes "still breathing" is Billie telling us he is back and better than ever. The love I have for this song is unreal. So personal but it feels like he wrote if for us. To assure us that he's okay.

In concert he keeps motioning to the crowd when he sings "my way to you" and it kills me. Absolutely beautiful.

I am at a loss that this isn't blowing up on the radio. I thought for sure this would have been their huge come back song, but maybe it's still too soon?

I don't know. Was it even released as a proper single? I don't think so. This and Ordinary World are the only two songs that stand a chance to succeed on mainstream radio so I'm still hoping for the best, even though I doubt much will change unless more promo for it kicks in. It might work if it got the same treatment as BB but at this point I don't expect it to become huge. And frankly, I'm ok with it. I like this era because the campaign so much less forced than 21CB and the Trilogy. I value it over commercial success. It's laid back and less aggressive, which means less people noticed but those who have don't get annoyed - this album is like a gift to fans (but won't be so big outside the gd bubble imo). Btw, I wonder how many new fans revrad creates. Most newcomers we've had so far were making a comeback but it's too early to jump to conclusions about this now.

I seem to have developed a rule that I never skip past this song. Can't do it. It's too special.

Interesting you say that because I would argue this is far more better than Lazy Bones. I feel like lazy bones is just like i'm whining i'm whining more... these lyrics are so much more better and real. I'm in love with "Are you scared to death to live".

Just heard it on "SEC Now" during a highlight reel!

After having listened to the complete album a couple of times, this is still my absolute favorite and I'm pretty sure it won't change. I can't wait to see it live and I'm sure it will bring me to tears, because Billie always seems so into it and very emotional.

This one needs to be the next music video.   A really powerful, tear jerking video and this song will be a success.   Green Day aboard a sinking pirate ship.   But not corny.

I'm pretty sure that Still Breathing, if released as a proper single, with a music video and a lot of promotion, will reach the top 40 in the Billboard singles chart, just like KYE and 21 guns.

I think it goes into the same category as BOBD and 21 Guns, it could be a huge radio hit. And I really hope it will be, because it's so incredibly good, I just want a lot of people to hear it.

I agree with you and I don't even like Lazy Bones all that much and barely listen to it tbh, so the previous poster's notion is just silly.

It's also in two very different parts of a recovery/addiction process. I like considering it as a follow-up to LB but a shit version? Come on.

I love the song, partially because i'm personally in a place of recovery right now, and it really speak to me on that level.

but i love how passionate Billie Joe is when they play it live.
I love how catchy it is, i love the story it tell, and i love how relatable it is for pretty much anyone listening to it.
I can't listen to it without choking up, and i definitely haven't seen it performed live yet without crying.

i fricken love this song.
