Clockwise Posted February 3, 2017 Posted February 3, 2017 Chasing dreams and impossible things. That's my interpretation at least.

This Or at least, my interpretation is a bit similar. Seeing as fireflies are beautiful to watch and zeros are basically nothing I see it as "chasing everything and nothing at all"
Alan86 Posted February 3, 2017 Posted February 3, 2017 I think he wants the TVs show Firefly to be brought back.
St. Jonny Posted February 4, 2017 Posted February 4, 2017 I see it as living in a fantasy world. Something most musicians love to do, naturally. Very random line, which at first I didn't care for, but I love it now after so many listens. One of those lines that allows the listener to put their own ideas and thoughts into the meaning. Would love to hear his take on it though.

I think Bouncing Off The Wall is a dig at our obsession with social media of all sorts. "I'm gonna make a scene, my radio covered in gasoline." Billie uses "radio" in several places on RevRad; we first are introduced to it as a concept in Bang Bang where our mass-shooter is "broadcasting live and it's on my radio" -- he's posting pictures of his chaos and carnage on his timeline so it goes viral and gets him maximum attention. So I take "radio" where he uses it to refer to a TwitFaceSnapGramEtc. timeline. It's on fire, exploding everywhere, with everyone getting all wiggy and outraged ("we're all getting pissed and everybody's bouncing off the walls") over every little thing or big thing or nothing at all. So framing the concept this way, "chasing fireflies and zeroes" to me then means locking in for a fleeting moment on whatever happens to be the trending topic of the instant, before flitting off and burning more energy on something else that doesn't make one whit of difference in the real world. The message is a take-down of how we so willingly waste precious time on social media, yelling past strangers for hours, and doing nothing constructive outside the four corners of our smartphones.

End Of The World Posted February 4, 2017 Posted February 4, 2017 I have to say the outro of this song is the worst part of RevRad. It's just a noise. GD are great because they know how to close a song. But that's not the case.
St. Jonny Posted February 4, 2017 Posted February 4, 2017 I like the drums there though. Pretty tight!

To me it sounds great, because I love such random sounds of guitars or piano, just letting the instrument resound. In this song it has never bothered me at least, I think it fits the song quite well. Same with Letterbomb.
Christian's Inferno! Posted February 5, 2017 Posted February 5, 2017 While I love the song it seems unfinished to me. My favourite part is the beginning with the short verses because they're catchy and fun. More of the song should be like that but there's only 3 short verses of that and then a chorus x2
Hermione Posted February 5, 2017 Posted February 5, 2017 Still so pleased by the awesome line "'cause we're all bloody freaks and we'll give you the creeps". After the crushing revelation that it says "but it's sad" not "bloody sad" in Favourite Son it makes everything ok again. Might be the all time catchiest Green Day song.

Same with Letterbomb. I have to disagree. From my point of view, Letterbomb and BOTW have completely different endings. While in the first the guitar fades out, in the second the noise is always louder and I hate it, also because it has no link with SB, which follows in the album tracklist. In the case of Wow, That's Loud!, I think the noise is perfect, because it perfectly fits the atmosphere of Dos!.

No problem I understand you, but have to admit that I still like this song the way it is.

I already suspected that it was just wishful thinking that he was saying "bloody" because it did kind of sound like it could be "but it's" (but went on believing it anyway). Then the American Idiot musical version came along and confirmed it But now there's a Green Day song that does say bloody so everything is fine

I believe some of these musical versions might not have the correct lyrics sometimes (I can't think of any in particular right now and I'm talking about minor changes anyway but I know I used to spot them), this doesn't seem to be the case though. I re-listened to the song and I've come to the very sad conclusion that you're right But yeah BOTW kinda makes up for it
The Ghost Dancer Posted February 7, 2017 Posted February 7, 2017 I love BOTW! It's not just because of the lyrics and its catchiness, but also because the guitar sound kind of reminds me of the first part of Homecoming, I think. Is there anyone else who seems to notice the similarity between the two or is it just me?

Actually, when listening to BOTW I can't stop thinking about KYE or H&H, or better, in general 21CB mixed with a little bit of FBHT. Edit: I'm wondering what would have understood a non-GD fan after reading my post...
