I really really like all of the songs on the album except for this one. I feel like it killed the momentum for me on the first listen but I'm enjoying it a little more with every listen.  It's just the beginning of the track just seems so awkward or that it belongs on an Imagine Dragons album instead of this. I always have the temptation of skipping it to listen to one of my favorite Green Day songs ever now (Outlaws).

Maybe I would enjoy it more if it was somewhere else on the album like AFTER Outlaws instead of after Revolution Radio.

I really like when it gets into the "Violence on the rise..." part though. (I also like the message the lyrics are sending at us too)

I really liked it on first listen, unlike most others it would seem.  It's one of my favourites on the new album.  The 'violence on the rise' part is awesome, definitely the best bit of the song for me.

It's...

Gloria? and East Jesus Nowhere's drunk child.

I think this is becoming my second fave track on revrad (after "Forever Now") if not almost equal. I don't know there's just something about it - is it the layered sound? Love it!

The Violence on the Rise part is among Billie's best vocals in recent times (the way he sings 'Oh lord have mercy on my soul').

I absolutely love this song - one of my favourites from Rev Rad! It reminds me so much of the AI era (in particular it reminds me of Holiday which is so freakin' good!) but it is still unique and carries an extremely relevant message. Plus, don't even get me started on the perfect solo/ending!

Listening to it yesterday, I was liking it more again. Except that so many of the "Say _____ to the _____" lines felt to me like there could have been a lot more lyrical opportunities as opposed to only repeating them a few times. I'd actually like to sit down and try to write some alternates for fun.

This song is quite the masterpiece. Quite clever lyrically and they all get stuck in the head for hours. He could of done more with the Say Goodbye parts like you said but I like the vocal tone and sound they captured there.

I think Say Goodbye is similar to The Miracle of U2 (in terms of rhythm). What do you think?

This is the saddest track on the album to me.

"This is how we..... say a prayer for the ones that we love, say goodbye to the ones that we love"

It's a grieving song.
In context, it's about how a group of people mourn the loss of someone in the community, but it's also about trying to process a system that enables things like this to happen in the first place.
It's not "nostalgic sad" like Outlaws, it's "fearful sad" which i think hits even harder.

I also am a fan of this song - it sounds like EJR mixed with something i cant quite put my finger on. I love the 'this is how we', and how it almost sounds like it was sung with gritted teeth. it gives me frustration - and i absolutely love it.

Grief, pain, and rage -- particularly where Billie screams "THIS! IS! HOW! WE!" over Tre's distant, reverberated percussion in the final minute of the song.  The gritty, raw, powerful emotion this conveys punches you in the gut, and the production is picture-perfect.  The repetitive rhythm in the choruses calls up dark imagery straight from the headlines that conveys the injustice of the world we live in -- a riot patrol show-of-force slowly goose-stepping up a mayhem-filled street with their armored vehicles, flashing lights, and tear gas all around; of a police officer shooting a fleeing suspect in the back or beating the crap out of a captured protestor; and of the protestors themselves advancing toward those who seek to doom their movement.  It all fits.

When I first heard the album this was one of my least faves but I'm obsessed with it now :dance:I constantly have it on repeat and it's definitely gonna be a really good live song!

This is my favorite song off the album. I listen to it almost daily, usually when getting ready in the morning.

It's a heavy sound and style that's unique to this track. While I hear Holiday, KYE, EJN, and Gloria?, I hear more. It's playful yet sinister, starts light and just gets darker, by the end you don't know if you're coming or going.

The whisper of "this is how we" reminded me of the "1-2-3-4" in Peacemaker

They teased it during Holiday on the Howard Stern show.  So excited for when they play all of it.

Does anyone know what the actual melody is during the first "roll"?? I can't make out the last few notes due to that damn bow guitar  I feel like I mess it up every time I try to sing it!
