Second favourite son

I'm surprised that some people don't like the lyrics.  I think they are pretty damn good and timely.

I Like the Lyrics.

Revolution Radiooooo
Operation no control
In the headline, my love's bullet proof♫♫
Give me cherry bombs and gasoline♫♫♫
Dead guitars and surgery
In the headline, we call lies the truth

Fuck, i've listened the song like 30 times already.
Good stuff. Really excited for the whole album.

Comparing first listen of this to first listen of bang bang and it's a very different impression it leaves. Bang bang for me was eye widening, really made me sit up and take notice. Revolution radio doesn't quite pack as much of a punch as bang bang (which is a good thing because I don't want 12 songs all too similar to the one that precedes it). I honestly think Revolution radio is a fantastic song in its own right. It manages to encapsulate the feel of a few other songs, most noticeably to me, extraordinary girl, coming clean and the chorus reminds me of lazy bones' chorus. To me it feels like it wouldn't be out of place on nimrod/AI/21CB/or even in a best of trilogy (because it has a vibe about it similar to the trilogy).

Lastly, I've seen a few people saying it's more radio friendly. My fiancée who isn't much of a green day fan (likes a few of the hits etc) prefers it to bang bang.

The more we hear the more I'm looking forward to my 3 hour drive to Manchester in February :) almost 12 years to the day since I first seen green day live.

I think this song would sound killer acoustic, especially the chorus.

Also, that bridge reminds me a strongly of another song, but I can't quite put my finger on it.

I gave up and listened to it. It might be either the mix or my shitty speakers but all I could hear were the guitars, drums and some squeaking I identified as vocals. I loved what I heard though. The guitar intro is beautiful.

Similar to Bang Bang, this song just gets better and better each time I listen to it.

I spent the afternoon playing games and when I was doing a break I saw that it leaked and went to listen it and it's so awesome, this album will be one of my favourites. I prefer this kind of releases out of nowhere ratter than timed releases because I get more excited

This may sound dumb, but why haven't Green Day made something more experimental like blink did with Self-Titled and Box Car Racer?

i think because billie and tom have totally different influences. billie's true loves are the replacements, husker du, the ramones, the clash, the jam, a ton of other english punk bands and all the gilman st/lookout bands of the 80s, so green day's sound doesn't veer too far from that sound/style. the self titled blink and boxcar records were influenced by a lot of darker post hardcore stuff, (fugazi, rites of spring, refused, etc.) as well as 80s pop, (the cure, the smiths) that tom had a huge boner for.

i'm sure billie can appreciate that post hardcore stuff, i think i've heard him mention fugazi in an interview before, but generally he's probably less influenced by that sound and more inspired by the stuff he grew up loving.

Disagree, it will sound fucking amazing live with the more raw live sound. This is a song that sounds better the harder it is played or else the message it sings loses power, like it is less convincing

The air is barely breathing? Uhm ok.

Do you have any friends?

Are you seriously insinuating that I have no friends because I'm criticizing a fucking GREEN DAY song?

You do realize that Green Day are one of the most unpopular bands to discuss on the entire internet right?

Seriously, what the fuck is up with these responses? Like you're not even formulating a counter argument to make way for further discussion, you literally just insulted me for no reason. Lol

RE: The air is barely breathing — Maybe like a tightness in the air? Tension?

"The dawn of the new airwaves for the anti-social media" is such an American Idiot line. Ha.

I was just watching this controlled chaos, and it was going and happening all over the country.
I was feeling that people don't want to feel obsolete in the things that we care about. That's sort of what the song is about. --Bja

I can clearly see the song was inspired by the things Bj mentioned in the RS interview.
Mmm, Feels Political And Agressive. I dont really know, i just like it. A lot. And I'm playing this so fucking loud as soon as i can.

After listening RevRad immediately after Bang Bang, I've got to say it is indeed catchier. I don't know if it will do better on the charts, that'll depend on whether they'll release a music video tomorrow (improbable) or a lyrics video. I'm still a little astounded they are releasing it before the BB music video.

FUCK. I've re-written this several times and my opinion changes every time I hear it. Immediate reaction was me being underwhelmed, a little rattled that it wasn't quite the hard, fast song that Bang Bang was. After about 5 times I still wasn't sure. 10 plays in and I'm pumped. Similar to the Trilogy for me, took a while for the song to grow on me.

I don't know if I'm alone in this but I don't particularly want this as the opener on tour, even though it 99% will be as the title track. I feel like all the pent-up energy fans have before the show starts is best used on Bang Bang as the opener. Stupid excited to hear both songs live, though.

I'd be shocked if this charted better than Bang Bang, but I'm happy to be proven wrong!

Is it as good as their other album title tracks?

How can anyone like Bang Bang and complain about the vocal filters on RevRad.....they sound the exact same vocal wise.

Loving it! It reminds me of some of the faster stuff on 21CB. The beginning is like a mix of Murder City with a guitar melody somewhat reminiscent of Baby Eyes.

I think this song will sound great live. I hope to see them do a lot of TV performances (Kimmel, Conan, SNL, etc) and would love to see them play Bang Bang and/or Revolution Radio.

Honestly? No, it's by far the weakest. It's okay. It's no Warning/American Idiot/21st Century Breakdown tho.

Sounds more like a decent deep cut than an actual single.

I was never crazy about Warning, so for me its better than that title track.    I'm still forming opinions about this song (listening for the 3rd time right now) but I don't think it's better than American Idiot or 21st Century Breakdown.  It sounds a lot like BANG BANG, and I believe that's the reason we're hearing this one.  They wouldn't want to give away too much of what the new album is going to sound like.....Of course the new album could be 11 songs like this and then Ordinary World all slow and chill at the end.   But I'm hoping for some variety.

Sounds familiar...will probably be way better live. I like Bang Bang more
