RedundantIdiot Posted September 8, 2016 Posted September 8, 2016 I don't want to listen to it until it's released properly. Some good comments about it so far, though
Teenage Lush Posted September 8, 2016 Posted September 8, 2016 i love bang bang and i think it's probably more exciting, especially on first listen, but this song imo is pretty much quintessential green day. it's what i expected/wanted from the trilogy when they were going on about all the back to their roots/return to simplicity stuff.
Neutral Milk Hotel Posted September 8, 2016 Posted September 8, 2016 I took an hour-long break from listening to it, enjoying it a lot more now

Stefano Bras Posted September 8, 2016 Posted September 8, 2016 When I picture myself seeing Bang Bang and Rev Rad live I get the chills.

EmmaCharlatan&Saints Posted September 8, 2016 Posted September 8, 2016 Holy balls this is awesome!! Those guitars and drums are heavy as fuck!!! So freaking excited for this whole album!!!!

Rumpelstiltskin2000 Posted September 8, 2016 Posted September 8, 2016 Love Revolution Radio. As I think a few other people have said I do hear just a little of Extraordinary Girl in the song. Does anyone else hear after "Cherry bombs and gasoline" "Air guitar and sertraline". It's what I heard on the first listen and I just can't unhear it now! 4 minutes ago, Stefano Bras said: When I picture myself seeing Bang Bang and Rev Rad live I get the chills. Me too!

Tbh this mentality you got going on is just as annoying as the criticisms "They" being fans in general. I've been in many fandoms over the years, and no one is nearly as critical of an artist or show or film as its biggest fans are. Fans are nitpicky. Not a good or bad thing, but definitely the truth no matter what or who you're talking about lol.
DookieLukie Posted September 8, 2016 Posted September 8, 2016 This may sound dumb, but why haven't Green Day made something more experimental like blink did with Self-Titled and Box Car Racer?

I think they followed a more natural progression of sound rather than rapidly changing it up all of a sudden. I think Green Day are much more ambitious though, so that could be it as well.
DanPak Posted September 8, 2016 Posted September 8, 2016 I love the song, such a good surprise today!! Only marks against it I can think of is the slightly grating vocal effects and the overuse of call and response singing
LPbilliejr Posted September 8, 2016 Posted September 8, 2016 well they experimented a lot....Foxboro Hot Tubs, The Network, pinhead gunpowder, The Frustrators

Maid Meringue Posted September 8, 2016 Posted September 8, 2016 The first verse vocally reminds me of PHGP which is awesome. And I love the melody and instrumentals. I want to love this song but those lyrics are just like....lacking depth, to me. But if Nightlife could grow on me, this definitely will.
November's Storms Posted September 8, 2016 Posted September 8, 2016 Late to the party. Can someone some up the general mood of this thread so far? As for my take, I think it's great! Vocals are not too loud on the source I've found but I'm assuming that's not how it really is. Punchy, a little bit different, really catchy. This is the band I love!

This is the band I love! Generally positive, though opinions about (some of) the lyrics differ quite a lot. I personally think we all have to let it sink in and sleep over it for a dozen of hours before delivering a conclusive judgment.

Both very good songs but Bang Bang is quite generic. The subject meaning is important but the song just didn't grab me as much as this has. We'll see if they pass the test of time but for me it's definitely RR ftw!
MaraGreenDay Posted September 8, 2016 Posted September 8, 2016 After that Beatles comment I'm loving this song more and more.
