They are more likely to realize they have a problem when they have to deal with the consequences themselves. Ultimately they have to deal with the consequences themselves anyway but in Billie's case he told Rolling Stone that Pat (his manager) wanted him to head to rehab when he was over in England for Shepherds Bush and Reading around August 23rd but he said he wanted to play Reading first and then he'd go to rehab or just release the album first and then go to rehab or something like that. It was made clear that the discussion was very much out there that it was felt he needed to go to rehab a month beforehand. Despite that though and even despite his hospitalisation in Italy resulting in the cancellation of a gig and being on a drip upon his return to the US, he was still partying with people who knew he was in serious trouble and still ended up in that park. Every article and interview Billie gave he said Pat basically told him "you're going to rehab" after iheart like he was stepping in regardless of what Billie thought about it and ultimately Billie thanked Pat for rehab at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. So I guess in a way Pat did help Billie and it wasn't a minute too soon. Glad he's got his head screwed on. I mean Billie actually said "I was surprised I woke up in the mornings" in this most recent RS. It's insane it got that far. THAT is in immediate risk of death!!
spark in the night Posted September 11, 2016 Posted September 11, 2016 I interpreted that part to mean he was surprised he didn't wake up at like 4pm and that he was able to wake up in the morning like everyone else... But I see what you mean too!!

I stated I don't believe every single word that comes out of his mouth. In my opinion it would be stupid to. As others have pointed out he's an addict and in order to hide his behaviour for years he's had to lie. I don't see what's so offensive about choosing not to believe everything that someone famous says in an interview while promoting an album anyway Oh and for the record that "randomer" as you described him is a guitarist in a band who Billie borrowed the guitar he used to play that night. Also just because his family is there really doesn't mean he wasn't drinking if that's what you're implying. Adrienne was at Irving Plaza (he ended up hungover in a park afterwards), the Foxboro Hottubs gig where he pissed on the stage and iHeart. Anyway I'm entitled to my opinion which is that I don't believe everything he says in relation to being sober. The end and who cares anyway. Well I mean, you seemed to care when you said it bothered you, and you hate that you don't believe everything he says anymore But anyway, sounds like an awesome interview. Wish I could find it in the UK somewhere! Also love how they look on the cover.

spark in the night Posted September 11, 2016 Posted September 11, 2016 I think what matters most is the present, (it's the ONLY thing that matters really) and everyone looks great, healthy, happy and ready to rock

I understand 100% where you're coming from and have had similar thoughts. I know I definitely found it worrying at the time that Pat was the one who had to step in and do something. But quite honestly, I question the weird things that go on in my friends' and relatives' lives regularly – people have totally different dynamics in relationships than I do in mine. And if my loved one or friend were struggling with addiction I have no idea how I'd handle it, or if I'd have the guts to do anything at all if they were rejecting my help. So I find some things that went on weird, but also don't feel comfortable passing judgement. No one knows what goes on behind closed doors.

I'm not questioning what he said, what I mean is that it's beyond my imagination somehow. I didn't realize how bad it was...frankly, I'm in awe at how well he managed to keep it together on the outside. At the time I thought the stint was going to be a temporary delay and things would get back to what they like before. It felt a bit "meh" when I realized it won't be that way (and that the tour would be much shorter than it probably was originally meant to be ), that seems so selfish and immature now. I don't want to ramble on, all I want to say is that a world withought Green Day would be a much sadder one. You said it exactly how i thought it On 9/10/2016 at 9:23 AM, Hero_Of_The_Hour said: The lyric is: because the martyr is a compulsive liar When he said "it's just a bunch of niggers throwing gas into the ...." The entire point of the use of the word in the context in which it is used is calling the person who used it a "compulsive liar". Billie was hardly using the N word in any kind of derogatory way whatsoever. People who argue otherwise have clearly no idea what they're talking about or what Billie has always stood for. As far back as Road to Acceptance Billie has championed equality and used to give little speeches live back in the early 90's gigs during that song that the song was about treating everyone equally regardless of colour, sexuality etc. People who misunderstood the use of the word in American Eulogy are similar to those who failed to understand the use of "faggot" in American Idiot and "Kill all the fags that don't agree" in Holiday. It's like yeah...you people are beyond dumb That's what i mean! If these people figured out billie's actual views on the world they'd realize pretty quickly that he didn't intend to use the word in a hurtful way.

PursuitOfEpicness Posted September 12, 2016 Posted September 12, 2016 It was pretty hard to read that Billie could have basically killed himself. I'm so happy he went to rehab and his friends and family stuck by him so well. My favorite line though that stuck with me was for some reason about Black Lives Matter and how white people need to shut up and listen, so cool for him to stand up for that so much lately. Really psyched for this album!

I'll definitely keep an eye out pretty much any supermarket should have rolling stone, not many and later than the US, but you can definitely get them at asda/tesco/co-op etc. What I found interesting was how Billie turned down acting opportunities. And how they didn't tell the record company that they were recording.
jengd Posted September 15, 2016 Posted September 15, 2016 Has anyone in uk been able to see this yet? I went to my nearest WHSmith and they have stopped taking it so will need to go further afield to get it. Thanks
AlissaGoesRAWR Posted October 5, 2016 Posted October 5, 2016 My sister called me yesterday because she accidentally received a copy of this magazine in the mail and she wanted to make sure I had it. Since I do, she decided to keep it and read it. Her first comment, after looking at the cover: "Dear God, do they EVER age?"
