PursuitOfEpicness Posted August 14, 2016 Posted August 14, 2016 Even from the most critical music reviewer's pov AI wouldn't even suck haha
Steven Seagull Posted August 14, 2016 Posted August 14, 2016 Nah AI is their worst single. Oh Love is their third best. To me it's Longview #1 (that's a no brainer, easily their best single ever), Minority #2, Oh Love #3

I mean I know you don't like AI (the album) but to say that the song AI is their worst single and a song about masturbation is their best and that's a "no brainer" sounds awfully sarcastic. Of course I never considered the possibility that you just despise decent lyrics

If it's the former, then that's fine, but if you're talking about the latter, then that's an objectively wrong statement.
DanPak Posted August 14, 2016 Posted August 14, 2016 Voted for Bang Bang, both as a song in general and as a lead single. I liked Oh Love enough when it first came out, and I guess it has it's nostalgia too, but Bang Bang is just the better song for me.

I don't really give a fuck about some shooter so the song means nothing to me. Dookie for example was great because it's such a growing up record.
EastCaitNowhere Posted August 14, 2016 Posted August 14, 2016 I voted for Bang Bang, I love both tho.

They wrote Dookie when they themselves were growing up though so it would be fairly pathetic if they were to continue to write songs in the same vein (about masturbation for example) while in their 40's. Songs like Bang Bang show that Billie is capable of looking outside himself and write about serious problems which affect society today. Though you "really don't give a fuck about some shooter" I assume you know how serious the situation of mass shootings is and the decision to write about it in the current climate and release it as a single will undoubtedly relate to a lot of people and is ultimately much more likely to benefit the bands credibility than their attempt to "shoot from the crotch" with Oh Love at the age of 41
Asik Posted August 14, 2016 Posted August 14, 2016 Love both, but Bang bang best first single since Ai
punkangel Posted August 15, 2016 Posted August 15, 2016 Oh Love is shit. Worst GD song imo. (Know Your Enemy is another candidate)

An issue I had with a lot of the trilogy was that it felt like a step backward maturity wise (not all of it, but some of it). Oh Love was among the songs from the trilogy that felt a bit juvenile to me, and just not up to par with the clever lyrics we're used to Billie writing. I felt like after two serious albums, the band felt they dug too deep a hole and didn't want to take themselves too seriously, so they went WAY in the opposite direction. Revolution Radio, it would seem, is a happy medium from what we've heard about it. Bang Bang is the total opposite—it's a unique topic for them and shows a lot of maturity and consideration for the outside world. No, I don't relate to it. I don't think anyone is meant to relate to it, as it is told from the perspective of a murderer. What I DO relate to is the fear and confusion that these mass shootings bring that would compel Billie to explore this topic.
End Of The World Posted October 13, 2016 Posted October 13, 2016 Bang Bang. Even if Oh Love it's far more radio-friendly.

As I told someone on youtube, they can't write about masterbation and growing up forever. They are middle-aged men who grew up and are writing about different things and important issues in today's world.
norcalgreendayfan Posted October 13, 2016 Posted October 13, 2016 Bang Bang all the way it is just a so much better song and had a better video to go with it too.
