UNICORN VOMIT Posted August 14, 2016 Posted August 14, 2016 I like oh love but just watched them back to back & there is no comparison - bang bang is the bomb & don't even get me started on the video comparison. BANG BANG

BANG BANG The LYRIC video is sooooooooooo much better than the Oh Love MUSIC video, i hate that video so much. Bang Bang wins everything
Vanilla Shake Posted August 14, 2016 Posted August 14, 2016 Bang Bang wins for me. Oh Love is a great song, but it lacks the energy needed to really hype up your typical Green Day fan, along with the masses who are merely casual listeners. To be honest it did hype me up for Uno, but not in the same way that Bang Bang has pumped me up for Revolution Radio. Not to mention I really don't like it when bands choose the final song from an album as a single before the album's even released, as it kind of spoils the whole thing for me. I prefer the final song be a mystery until I finally reach it during my first listen. If it was 2012 right now and I was in charge of picking the lead single from Uno, I'd go with Nuclear Family.
Red Posted August 14, 2016 Posted August 14, 2016 I can't tell if the people saying Oh Love are being sarcastic or not haha, I mean I don't want to sound rude but when I think of the greatest Green Day songs, singles or just in general, I don't ever think of Oh Love, but Bang Bang has to have a pretty good chance at being a contender.

We're not. To me Bang Bang is a song you hear once and you're like, oh ok that's a cool song, but it's not a song that I would sing for the next week after I heard it. I would go this far that I would choose Know Your Enemy before this one, and I hated 21CB. I think the next single will be better.

I thought the majority of people around here really liked that album, I love the album but Know Your Enemy is one of the worst singles they've ever put out. In my honest opinion, it's on par with AI in terms of musicality and songwriting, obviously AI trumps it with the impact it had in the mainstream. Sorry to distract from the topic. In terms of the topic. Bang Bang definitely hits harder than Oh Love, just has a more general appeal.

While I understand that everyone is entitled to their own opinion I just struggle to find why they'd prefer the other song over this one. 46 minutes ago, Steven Seagull said: We're not. If you have only listened to Bang Bang once, I'd encourage you to give it more of a chance. You say it's not a song you'd sing for a week after you heard it but I still can't get that fucker out of my head and I am still listening to it on repeat at every chance I get. That did not happen with Oh Love or Know Your Enemy, in fact, even when KYE came out as a single, I was still listening to the leaked demo of 21CB far more as it was easily the better song (in my opinion) of the two, and even with the album version, I still think so to this very day.

That's what's happening with me. I like Ordinary World more. The song itself is nothing special but it's more simple. When Oh Love was released I beat the crap out of that replay button.

It took me over a year to get me to listen to Oh Love out of choice, because it was the first single I would take any new Green Day I could get haha but when the albums were released Oh Love was forgotten about. The longest time a song has had to grow on me.
Rumpelstiltskin2000 Posted August 14, 2016 Posted August 14, 2016 It's just too hard to choose! They're both so completely different but I love both in their own right.
solongfromthestars Posted August 14, 2016 Posted August 14, 2016 Damn, this is a hard one. I do like Oh Love a lot and I remember listening to it on repeat when it came out (like I'm now doing with Bang Bang haha). I also really enjoyed it live each time I heard it and I related to it at the time. The official video was awful though and the Bang Bang lyric video is waaay better than the Oh Love one, plus it's obviously a better choice for a first single. Regardless, I think I'm going to go with Oh Love just because I know it won't receive as much love as Bang Bang

heart on a noose Posted August 14, 2016 Posted August 14, 2016 I loved instantly Oh Love when it came out and it got me excited for trilogy. As for single I don't wanna get into discusion was it or not good choise. I like the melody and lyrics and when I hear it I definitely hear Green Day and no one can convince me otherwise. Bang bang I also like but it didn't get me on very first listen I was more excited to hear something new. But imo Bang Bang is more promising cuz it represents Green Day in way most fans love, revolutionary, energetic and kinda rebellious. And that's okay cuz it takes to be a really great musician to put so many different styles that approaches various tastes in music.
Steven Seagull Posted August 14, 2016 Posted August 14, 2016 Good thing you can always read the comments from people who "hate" the song.
PussySlayer Posted August 14, 2016 Posted August 14, 2016 I love Oh Love. It always makes me cry. I don't know why. It will tear me apart one day.
madafaka Posted August 14, 2016 Posted August 14, 2016 Musically they are so different. A poll against Know Your Enemy or American Idiot would probably make more sense I suspect it would score a 2nd place on that list. Oh Love and Know Your Enemy would probably have a tight race for 3rd
Clayish Posted August 14, 2016 Posted August 14, 2016 Oh Love is the most boring and flat song the band has ever put out. Truly sounds like a band way past its prime. Bang Bang is the best first single since American Idiot.
Steven Seagull Posted August 14, 2016 Posted August 14, 2016 He talks about boring songs and then says AI was a good single.

There's nothing wrong with having a different opinion but continuously stating that you don't like AI or 21CB is just as annoying as the people hating on the trilogy
