ArmatageShanksMe Posted September 15, 2016 Posted September 15, 2016 Forgot to add this but from what i see he has been credited on bang bang so its really odd from tim armstrong and/or green day to not put him on the music video
Hermione Posted September 15, 2016 Posted September 15, 2016 Because no one made a rule that just because he's in the band he has to do exactly the same things as the other members. He's never done as much as the others, even when he played on the trilogy and was credited equally for it he still didn't. Seems like that's just what suits him.
stories and songs Posted September 15, 2016 Posted September 15, 2016 Is he ever in their music videos, though? I can't think of any off the top of my head. They're known as a trio and present themselves as such. I think he's incredibly valuable to the band, but isn't quite as involved as the other three are. I'm sure if he wanted to be more in the spotlight he could be, but that doesn't appear to be the case.
ArmatageShanksMe Posted September 15, 2016 Posted September 15, 2016 We did see him in music videos like 21 guns and wake me up when september ends
GuitarPunk94 Posted September 15, 2016 Posted September 15, 2016 this jason white discussions are really annoying .. Edit: he is in the WICA music video for example

jon18 Posted September 15, 2016 Posted September 15, 2016 With Revolution Radio, the band chose reborn under its notorious form as a trio and foster public support .
Chin for a Day Posted September 15, 2016 Posted September 15, 2016 I actually thought that the dude was the only one that cared about this.
21guns&novacaine Posted September 15, 2016 Posted September 15, 2016 Probably for the same reasons mentioned in the discussion thread of why he doesn't act like an active member of GD, despite being formally inducted to the group. He seems to enjoy being a helpful outsider to the group, and never really liked the limelight that joining them completely in interviews and whatnot brought. I look for him to appear in a video or two on this album, though.

Stefano Bras Posted September 15, 2016 Posted September 15, 2016 He's not in the band anymore, only tour member.
Christian's Inferno! Posted September 15, 2016 Posted September 15, 2016 Why does this thread exist when this one already does
Hermione Posted September 15, 2016 Posted September 15, 2016 16 hours ago, MysticManiac said: Why does this thread exist when this one already does Good point Hey @ArmatageShanksMe, since there's already a similar thread for discussing Jason White's role in the band I've merged yours with it, discussion can continue here I like how when all that happened was Jason played on an album and got credited fairly as an equal member for it people decided he had been "announced as an official member", and now all that's happened is he hasn't played on the latest album (or maybe he has? do we even know?) people have decided he's officially out of the band . He and the band haven't labeled his status as anything, and it's clear he's been part of the band for many years just maybe to more of an extent at some times than others. Why the need for it to be so black and white as either in on the exact same level as the other members or out?
TimmyChunks Posted September 17, 2016 Posted September 17, 2016 The confusion came from the fact that during the Trilogy promotion he started to be mentioned as the fourth member, and then the album credits and the release of Cuatro also ended up reaffirming this semi- proclamation. But I agree with the majority of sentiment above- who cares. We know who the core band is. We know that Jason is now essential to their live performances. In either respect, he's a great, highly complementary piece of what we see and hear. Good guy, good musician, good in his role. However you want to define is fine with me.
tresexy101 Posted September 17, 2016 Posted September 17, 2016 I'm pretty sure he'll be on the tour. If I'm wrong, than it's obvious he's dead. Damn Illuminati.
Steven Seagull Posted September 30, 2016 Posted September 30, 2016 I have a whole new appreciation for Jason. I've seen some live footage and when Billie was jumping around Jason was taking care of the songs with his great guitar playing. All the solos are Jason. Oh yeah did I say Jason rocks?

I love watching him play when I go to see Green Day. It's a dilemma whether to go to the left or the right of the stage because Mike and Jason are both great.
That Dude Posted September 30, 2016 Posted September 30, 2016 Glad this thread has taken off again. Jason's the REAL star in Green Day. Someone said he's credited in BANG BANG. Really?
Slash Posted September 30, 2016 Posted September 30, 2016 Billie, Mike and Tre are basically signed up by the record company, the 3 of them have all the equal legal rights making the decisions and the distribution of the Merch and all. They see Jason as their brother and even as a band member cause he is the band since a long time, I also see him as the 4th member cause he is pretty cool. So Legally he was never signed by the record company, he just went to the studio and got credits whatever he wrote as how other musicians or session musicians do.

Slash Posted September 30, 2016 Posted September 30, 2016 The question is what happened to Ronnie Blake?
