It gets better with every listen. My favorites are Forever Now, Bang Bang, the title track, Outlaws, Still Breathing, and Ordinary World. So yeah, like half the album.

Also waited until today to listen to the album. It' great. And I've learned a valuable lesson- never read GDA reviews of leaked tracks again. I went into this expecting to be massively disappointed by Dumb to Die, Say Goodbye, Troubled Times (many had good reviews, but many others did not like the leaked versions at all). They're all monster tunes. Great stuff. Sure, I'm a hugely biased grader here, since the love affair's going on 22 years and counting, but this album is absolutely phenomenal. So, so good. I know right now that this is going to be an incredibly listenable album for a very long time. We're so incredibly lucky- this is our band, has been for a long, long time...and they're still giving us stuff like this to listen to? I'm blown away. And grateful.

this album is fucking epic

Yesterday I enjoy making the guitar cover of "Somewhere Now", the first track of the CD, and even one of my favorite among all. Watch it, learn the chords and share it if you want!!

As awesome as this album sounds sober, it's ever more epic drunk.

I can confirm. I tested it on September 28th.

Now I'd like Green Day to grow some American Idiot-era cojones and play the entire album live, I think they can afford it and at this point in their career it won't be much of a risk. That confidence they had in the material back then needs to come back to keep them and the fans on their toes live.

It's a 44 minutes album and they'll probably drag some songs live so let's say it will be an hour, still got time to play an hour of classics and hits to satisfy casual concert goers.

Nothing better than coming home from a long night at work... and FINALLY listening to the new album!  I've been waiting all day for this!

Thank GOD for Spotify, because I won't be able to get my physical copy until I get paid again...

So far, It's absolutely amazing!!!  i'm only half way through my first listen, and I am BLOWN away..

i'd have to say my favorite track is probably going to be "Still Breathing" - i just love it.

Have now heard this three times.

I waited until release date and never listened to the leak, and I'll admit this was a grower. On my first listen I was slightly underwhelmed (though songs that immediately jumped out to me besides the already released ones were Somewhere Now, Say Goodbye, Outlaws, and Forever Now), but listening to this on my to work today and then again a few hours ago made it grow on me a ton. Some of Billie's best singing ever, and his best lyrics in a very long time, with surprisingly experimental songs as well. I'm gonna do what others have started doing and write my thoughts down

Somewhere Now: Really interesting sound for them to explore, I definitely agree with the Who comparisons. The lyrics and instrumentation are great, and I've kept getting the part where he sings the title in my head. 4/5

Bang Bang: Still an absolutely killer song. Awesome punk vibe, dark but powerful lyrics, and an incredibly catchy chorus. One of my favorite singles they've released in a very long time. 5/5

Revolution Radio: Probably the most "typical" Green Day song on the album but it still experiments with a different style of guitar playing. There's even pinch harmonics in the solo! Again, incredibly catchy chorus. 4.5/5

Say Goodbye: Dark sounding intro leads into a Holiday/East Jesus Nowhere-esque marching beat. Though this song kind of just seems like a chorus repeated a bunch of times without much in the way of verses, I really like the overall vibe. Really heavy guitars and drums too. 3.5/10

Outlaws: I love this song. Probably one of my favorite "ballads" they've ever done. Lyrics are fantastic, the instrumentation with the quiet drums in the verses and the bow guitar and subtle piano keeps it interesting, and I'm absolutely in love with the chorus melody. 5/5

Bouncing Off the Wall: Had to grow on me but it's a really fun song. Nothing really substantial but the chorus is super catchy and I love the line "We're all bloody freaks and we'll give you the creeps" no matter how dumb it is. 3/5

Still Breathing: Possibly one of the most powerful songs they've ever recorded. BJ's singing is phenomenal, the lyrics poignantly touch on his personal life while remaining relatable, and the more modern sound brings an entirely new element to the track. I really hope this becomes a hit. 5/5

Youngblood: Probably the funniest song BJ has written since Nimrod. Love how light-hearted it is. 3.5/10

Too Dumb to Die: This is the only one I currently struggle to recall how it goes off the top of my head. The lyrics are pretty good but this song is really nothing special I think. 2.5/5

Trouble Times: Again, I love the melodies of this song, and that chorus is just dirty. Lyrics are nothing special imo (which is odd since BJ was hyping this one up a lot) but the heavy guitars and unique melodies make up for it. 3/5

Forever Now: Was really looking forward to this one as I always love their long songs, and while it's not one of their best, I love it. The first half is fantastic, and the Somewhere Now reprise was a great idea. Some of the best lyrics on the album (I love how he incorporates the themes/lyrics of so many of the other songs) throughout this whole song and the ending is really great. Only downside is that this could kind of drag without the proper context of the rest of the album imo. 4.5/5

Ordinary World: Pretty typical acoustic Green Day track, which means it has a beautiful melody over some simple chords. Lyrics are really nothing special but I really like the vibe, though I'm not quite sure this fits with the rest of the album. 3/5

With this album, I think Green Day definitely accomplished what they set out to do, which was make a very solid album without gimmicks to was the taste of the trilogy era out of the public's mouths. I really appreciated the return of the political themes, which is an aspect of their music that I've always loved, as well as the more experimental nature of most of the tracks, which they completely pull off for the most part, yet still keep the Green Day feel. Billie Joe showcases some of his best singing ever and his best writing in years, Tre and Mike get some awesome parts to shine, and the production, done by the band themselves, is for the most part up to par. I'm sure the album will continue to grow on me and I'll gain a new appreciation for some songs I may not have been super into, but for now I'm giving the album a tentative 4/5. Can't wait to see them live.

If you read all of this, you are awesome

It's amazing how my favourite songs keep changing every time I listen to the whole album. Yesterday I was totally in love with Outlaws, it's such a great song that tells a story, I can literally see it in my head. This morning, I kept singing "Youngblood" in the bathroom. Right now I'm all into Somewhere Now. I especially love the "Hallelujah I found my soul Under the sofa pillows" part. I love how Billie sings the word "hallelujah", I already adored it in Static Age.

I feel like this album has so many details that still have to be discovered by listening again and again, it's so deep and meaningful.

Every time he sings "Congratulations I found myself, under the sofa pillow" I fucking melt.

Somewhere Now/Forever Now definitely working their way up into my favourite GD songs.

Also, the lyric book is so fucking rad. Love the art style and the photo, some of the lyrics are a little hard to read but that's being really picky. Surprised it was "Looking for a buzz, but all I got was Santa Clause" in Too Dumb To Die, makes even less sense now haha.

Now my favorite songs from revrad are - Bang Bang, Too Dumb to Die, Forever Now and, Bouncing off The Wall and the least favorite - Still Breathing, Outlaws and Youngblood.

It's interesting how others have a diffrent taste. Too Dumb To Die is excellent :D

First listen last night. It sounds pretty decent, but need to give it a few more listens to form a proper opinion. Already better than the Trilogy though.

So far I still like Still Breathing the most.

Finally it's arrived, having the Vinyl in my hands is an amazing feeling

By the way the trumpets by Ronnie Blake, according to the booklet, are on Bouncing off the Wall.

This might seem like a trivial point but I really appreciate the fact that the breaks between songs are kept to a bare minimum, 1-2 seconds. It makes the album flow better and besides I hate it when I have to wait really long between album tracks like on California.

omg omg omg the cd's have made it to Argentina real quick! I'm gonna go get my copy in a couple of hours, SO EXCITED :woot:

Damn the iTunes version actually sounds different and better. People were not kidding.
