Sarcasm Posted September 29, 2016 Posted September 29, 2016 Although I love almost every song, I feel like the one that goes "whats good about peace and love on earth" is a bit #deep

I'm happy to say most of them are actually good. Not that I understand everything (that line about online shopping in Somewhere Now, wtf?) and not that some parts aren't word salad but the overall impression is good. Unpopular opinion: verses of Still Breathing are a little cliched. The 'I shop online' line makes me lol because Billie Joe can barely send a tweet let alone shop online (jk love you BJ)
UNICORN VOMIT Posted September 29, 2016 Posted September 29, 2016 I love how BJ says hooligans in Outlaws - although I can't hear the "i" - does he say it.

I still like it but just not the best lyrically. I have to disagree, in my opinion, the lyrics work very well for the song. They make the statement simple and clear and create the atmosphere. But I admit they must get repetitive after a certain number of listens 2 minutes ago, Tinkle said: I love how BJ says hooligans in Outlaws - although I can't hear the "i" - does he say it. I really like the song, but I think the repetiveness is way over the top. I actually didn't get the lyrics that much until some one, I don't remember their name, told me they were good. I got so bored with the repetiveness that I tuned the rest of the lyrics out.

I just see the crowd screaming them during a show - it will be cool live.

A little too repetitive for my liking. Don't listen to it for a few days, then when you do decide to listen, have it LOUD. You'll love it again

Clayish Posted September 29, 2016 Posted September 29, 2016 I love the way BJA layered his vocals on the Say Goodbye hook. Reminds me of Foxboro Hottubs, which is a very good thing.
strangestat Posted September 29, 2016 Posted September 29, 2016 Man, idk if anyone thinks Ordinary World doesn't fit well at all on the album, but I much prefer Youngblood over Ordinary World
TheGrouch33 Posted September 29, 2016 Posted September 29, 2016 Too dumb to die is great! and for me Outlaws is sooooooo incredibly boring

JOE THE X-KID Posted September 29, 2016 Posted September 29, 2016 I feel like since the trilogy everyone picks apart the lyrics way too much. I mean that's cool but I feel like I'm walking on eggshells listening to the songs, the forum makes me think way too much about the lyrics and distracts me for what it is. There is fantastic writing on the album though, and the 'not so good' lyrics are fun for what they are. Doesn't have be serious all the time. I really enjoy the Santa claus line!!

UNICORN VOMIT Posted September 29, 2016 Posted September 29, 2016 But if we didnt discuss the lyrics the thread would just be - I like it, I love it, I hate it.
Hermione Posted September 29, 2016 Posted September 29, 2016 "I never learned to read or write so well/but I can play the guitar until it hurts like hell" is such a good burn on everyone who's made fun of Billie's spelling that I don't think I could do it now. 4 minutes ago, JOE THE X-KID said: I feel like since the trilogy everyone picks apart the lyrics way too much. I really enjoy working out what meanings they have or saying what I like about a line, but yeah trying to analyse whether they're technically good or bad leaves me cold.
