I remember playing it on repeat when it came out I like the "we'll shoot the moon into the sun" line in Youngblood, to keep it positive Same here it was on repeat for me when it came out, I was like Wow something new from Green Day. But well over the years I have grown out of it, But I am sure it is a great song when they play it live.

Race is not inherent, however, it did originate from African-American culture.
solongfromthestars Posted September 29, 2016 Posted September 29, 2016 I was going to ask that about "youngblood" because I didn't get how it related to Adrienne (or anyone tbh) but I didn't know if I was missing something obvious. I guess not

Hermione Posted September 29, 2016 Posted September 29, 2016 I think he's talking about the past in the song which would make "youngblood" more fitting. But either way it could mean that she's, like, youthful in spirit and vitalizing.

xXRustyJamesXx Posted September 29, 2016 Posted September 29, 2016 The intro to Outlaws is so fucking good

solongfromthestars Posted September 29, 2016 Posted September 29, 2016 I was also confused by the "fuck you I'm from Oakland" line because I guess it must be him saying it (since he specifies she's from Minnesota earlier in the song) but it really sounds like it's her response to the "are you..." lines. The song doesn't make a whole lot of sense to me
onionbubs Posted September 29, 2016 Posted September 29, 2016 So Adrienne is a black male? Okay then Weakest on the album imo. That chorus of "young blood young blood young blood" is kinda grading to me.

"Fuck you I'm from Oakland!" [he answers] She is "the cedar in the trees of Minnesota", he is "a rough boy' round the edges", she is sweet, he is rude.

I get what you mean here, but I also kinda feel Billie tends to recycle older lyrics a bit too often (RevRad seems to have less of this compared to the trilogy).

Ah that's interesting looking at it that way, makes a lot more sense! I guess once we get the lyric booklet we'll know for sure. And yeah agree about that part too. I think she's also "the cedar in the trees of Minnesota" because she's part Lebanese and the cedar tree is the symbol of Lebanon.

There isn't a pause between "Are you restless?" and "She said", I may be wrong but the meaning could be the opposite, I hear a (very) slightly longer pause between "she said" and "fuck you I'm from Oakland". I guess the official lyrics will show who's right.
