Death Magnetic is fantastic for sure! However, it's the album that the mixing crew went totally overboard on how "loud" it was. They pushed the digital limit on the how loud the tracks could possibly be, crunching them all right to "digital zero," causing the songs to sound extremely distorted and blown out. This was in the peak of the loudness war era. I'm sure he's learned his lesson but my goodness...
