Beatlesdude Posted August 3, 2016 Posted August 3, 2016 I just want to throw up a reminder that we've created 75 pages off of a 2 word song title
_•Whatsername•_ Posted August 3, 2016 Posted August 3, 2016 It's funny how just a few days ago we were in the dark and now every day a piece of news comes out

Ross_19 Posted August 3, 2016 Posted August 3, 2016 *casually listening to the new blink album while reading posts tearing it to shreds Anyway... So why is Spain the chosen one?
DookieLukie Posted August 3, 2016 Posted August 3, 2016 Yeah not to be a downer, but this is exactly the opposite of what I was hoping for. The "raw sound" part is certainly good news, but any likeness to their Lookout records at this point in their career is a bad thing. I was hoping for a more experimental Green Day album that explored styles and instrumentation, and it sounds like we're going to get another Trilogy.
BilIie Joe Armstrong Posted August 3, 2016 Posted August 3, 2016 I'm truly fucking devastated. Already.

I doubt they've unlearned their progress from 1994 to 2009

These people review a score songs from a score artists every day. They sure as hell don't know every sonical difference between every single GD record. Just listen and judge for yourself.
jordanlolss Posted August 3, 2016 Posted August 3, 2016 I think it's a bit silly to expect WB Spain to actually release the full song a week early. It's either going to be an in person event (like they said, only people in Spain will have the opportunity), or it's going to be a short clip from the song.

The problem is that we already have trilogy with raw sound- it's called Demolicious.

Perhaps they meant less of its going to be a carbon copy of early green day, but more they are returning to punk sounding music versus their recent poppy work. I'd be all for it.

DookieLukie Posted August 3, 2016 Posted August 3, 2016 I'm most concerned about production. Pleasssse no bubble-gum filters and treble guitars.
Billie Hoe Posted August 3, 2016 Posted August 3, 2016 Just now, Jane Lannister said: I'm just being realistic. They haven't released anything up to their previous standards since 2009. Yeah well, the only thing they've released since 2009 was the trilogy and the Christmas song. I think it's too early to be devastated yet. Wary maybe, yes. But all we really know is one song title and one (!) review of said song. It's really too early to judge the entire album based on that.
inthehallwaynow Posted August 3, 2016 Posted August 3, 2016 ONE PERSONS SEMI DECENT IMPRESSION OF THE SONG i think you all should hold off on the negative what if's also on that note i think its time for me to take a break from this thread.
jordanlolss Posted August 3, 2016 Posted August 3, 2016 I think the true downfall of the trilogy was the quantity of songs. From watching Cuatro and reading various interviews, you can tell that the band was more stoked that they had so many songs, not they that had amazing songs. Hopefully after how the trilogy went, they have come to realize that it should be quality over quantity.
jordanlolss Posted August 3, 2016 Posted August 3, 2016 Speaking of Cuatro, that has me thinking. I wonder if they filmed a documentary again? With the trilogy we got a bunch of teasers when they were in the studio, but this time we've got next to absolutely nothing. Would be cool to have footage of what they've been up to!

This is why I was so intrigued and excited about Heart Like A Hand Grenade. Despite how shitty it is, I still enjoyed at least getting a little glimpse into the recording of my favorite album of all time.
RedundantIdiot Posted August 3, 2016 Posted August 3, 2016 Well, I'm happy that it ''sounds'' like something off Dookie. But I'm sure I'll like it whatever it sounds like as its Green Day
