I was thinking of doing a little 'Long View' action and bite my lips and all that jazz to keep me awake....  but that might just tire me out.  I'll eat a peach instead.  Goes good with beer.

Wow a countdown on spotify? Anyone else reckon their label might be super confident in this album? They seem to be really pushing this in the media. Trilogy marketing was basically non existent...

So I'm FINALLY starting to get sooo pumped for this! I've been distracting myself with all the other music in the universe...but I was just looking on Facebook's "on this day" thing and 4 years ago today I posted the video from when Green Day had a secret show at the Echoplex and played Stay the Night and it just got me pumped! I remember how excited I was watching that video and the feeling it gave me when Billie goes, "What's wrong with this picture? What's wrong with the picture? ...There's absolutely nothing wrong with this picture!" AHHH, I can't wait to see them back on stage. It's the best feeling in the world.

This is my first post in over a year, which means the excitement is real. I honestly feel like a teenager waiting for American Idiot and 21st Century Breakdown to drop again. And while I love a bunch of songs from the trilogy (I have an eclectic taste in music to say the least), I acknowledged its own shortcomings once the initial hype around it faded. I went through a rough breakup that year and some of those songs actually helped get me through that period (Brutal Love was, well, brutal to hear at first, but in a good way -- Stray Heart comes to mind as well). And I was pumped for those albums too. But this? This is something different. Given the current climate here in the US with the presidential elections coming up, mass shootings and just overall insanity, if it's as scathing of a track as we got with AI back when Bush was seeking re-election, then maybe this could really be our introduction to their 3rd "comeback" album. Or maybe that's just wishful thinking on my part.

 

Anyway, I'll be home in the morning and I'm gonna be fully prepared for this. I'll have a nice bowl packed and ready to go for when this supposed beast of a track drops. Can't wait.
