I can't say this enough. When the album is coming out and everything is announced, I REALLY hope they come to Minnesota again to play a show. It's killing me that we still have to wait a few more days until we know how it's going to sound. 

 

At the same time it feels like everything is going way too fast - even 4 years after trilogy I still feel like it was yesterday but maybe that's just because this is the first time new music is coming out since I first started getting into them right after Tre came out.

Well I'm a bit late to the party, but that artwork is pretty good, got high hopes for the single.  Am I a bad person for saying I preferred the speculated radio on fire though?  Is there any thought that that may, instead, be the album art?

I'm pretty sure it'll be used somehow, just because both that and the Bang Bang artwork are against a plain black background and the themes are similar. It fits "Revolution Radio" too. If I'm right it may well be the album art, since iHeart probably wouldn't have used it for that song if it was for another one or the back cover or whatever, and we've figured it's unlikely to be a placeholder. Could be totally wrong though

not weird... i think it might be the way of promoting it. billie also reposted something a fan posted. just being close to their fans.. and its bilie since his posts get 3x the amount of likes than mike or tre do for some reason

For most people Billie Joe Armstrong = Green Day.  I would've expected more promotion through Green Day's band accounts, but I don't find it hugely surprising that it's mainly fallen to Billie to promote.  Makes the whole thing seem much more personal, which could be what they're going for.

It does have a similar colour scheme, and has the black background so it is possible. I'm also thinking it could be artwork for Radio Revolution if that turns out to be a single.

I think it's a viral strategy directed to the fans, not the market, that will be replaced (accompanied) by a more structured campaign on Thursday.

So about 40 minutes ago I said the artwork was 'pretty good'.  I'd like to retract that statement.  I've had time to look at the art properly, on a screen that isn't my cracked phone, and on second impression it looks awesome.  Really really good.  There hasn't been this much going on on a Green Day cover since Dookie.  My one fear is that more casual fans will stick with the first impression I had of 'oh. It's bang bang on a black background with green day written on top'.  They shouldn't, because it's a great cover and it only takes a slightly deeper look to see that.  But they might.
