Not at all, I feel the exact same way. I was very excited for the Trilogy, and it just turned into a disaster of a time for Green Day fans. The music was less inspired than we were accustom to, I heard a lot of hooks and rhythms that were borrowed from old songs, and for the first time ever I didn't like every single song on any one of the three albums. We've been terribly spoiled and unchallenged as Green Day fans with at least 6 straight albums that were stellar front to back, and two bonus albums (counting FHT and Shenanigans, not counting The Network) that were also great. 

 

Green Day were one of if not the most reliable band for their fanbase in terms of quality for a long time. If you vacationed in Hawaii every year for 20 years straight and on the 20th year it did nothing but storm the entire time, you'd probably be nervous about your next trip to Hawaii. 

 

But it's still Hawaii.

Yeah I agree that we were spoilt for quality before the trilogy but the band was going through some hard times as we all know, and for whatever reason they put out a bunch of songs that werent up to the standards of what we usually get from them, however I really like a lot of the songs from the albums too but I think we can all agree that while they weren't terrible albums, they weren't particularly great either.. 

More than anything, I am just hoping for a return to the guitar style of the pre-trilogy albums.

This is truly driving me crazy. I had a nightmare last night that the track list was announced and it was terrible. There was a song called "Nightlife 2.0" on it and others I don't remember but I know that everybody was disappointed. I need it NOW or else I'm going insane.

Yeah, and it worked even less when they decided, 'Hey, I know! The song's kinda meh, so let's throw in a buncha hooker tiddies to make up for it! That'll get the kids clicking on that iTunes app!'
