New song "Bang Bang" coming August 11th

I wouldn't be at all surprised if Bang Bang was linked to gun violence, either subtly or even explicitly.  I envision it being a relatively hard, relatively fast song, though it could just as easily be a heartfelt ballad.  I hope it's the first one though.  It's a slightly risky title IMO, it seems a bit cliched.  But if any band can make a good enough song to negate a cliche, I'd put my money on Green Day.

With a title like Bang Bang, my guess is it's going to be a kick ass song and this album is going to be political and that makes me happy.

I could totally see the beginning of the song being the sound of a gun cocking

I would be very surprised if this isn't very politically charged. Also, maybe the album really is titled Revolution Radio?

I hope so, I really like that title.

So I rang my local radio station and they said they've contacted their label to try and get the song as well. Funny enough, I rang a separate station and it turns out the stations are actually combined! They have 2 different numbers but the same reception.

Does anyone want to make a guess at what page this thread will be at by August 11?

I also emailed my local station, but since it is Sunday night I haven't heard anything yet.  I'm sure the station director is not in.

I feel a bit conflicted about the album possibly being political. I don't tend to agree with a lot of Billie's political beliefs, even though I love GD and agree with him that the world is very fucked up right now. I hope he takes a neutral stance on issues and presents both sides, leaving it open for the listener to decide which stance to take.

I think we can all agree that the U.S. of A. is extremely fucked this year.

The only movies to consider are the ones with Christoph Waltz.  So I can't decide between Django and Inglorious BAsterds

Yeah ... that's not going to happen.

You don't have to agree with all the political points of virw to enjoy the music and most of the lyrics. Billie s political lyrics have always been more about the injustices and problems in politics rather than point of views and political candidates.

oh god! That scene in Inglourious Basterds with Shoshanna in the restaurant while he was eating the pastry. Or the opening scene. Or any scene at all with him.

That's understandable. Although I don't think they are telling you what to think or believe, just that you should think for yourself and not let anyone tell you what to believe, if that makes sense. I'm not great at explaining.

I know that, how do you think that I reconcile being a huge fan of both 21CB and AI with my beliefs? Anyway, I'm excited nonetheless.

That scene in the restaurant is possibly one of the most terrifying scenes of all time.  He is just absolutely amazing
