Joe K Posted September 5, 2016 Posted September 5, 2016 Ok so when are the radio channels announcing shit?

Maybe the money the bands get from the festival are really good, and that's why they agree to such a clause in the contract. If they don't only play the festival that year, then they usually announce the dates very short after the festival (like RHCP for UK this year, in this case it was couple of days before Reading and Leeds).

I don't think the festivals do get a say. The music festival business is an unusual one in that both the festival and the band are hugely mutually dependent on each other. Without bands, there is no festival; without festival, band misses out on massive revenue. However, for a band as big as green day, it's in the festival's best interest to do whatever the band wants to secure them, even if that means only having them for a little secret show like at Reading.
Lindsay Posted September 5, 2016 Posted September 5, 2016 The inner nerd in me is really hoping they'll announce an NYC show the same week as UFC 205 so I have all the more reason to go to NYC. Excited for the (hopeful) announcement tomorrow!
amberwhite Posted September 5, 2016 Posted September 5, 2016 Have one of you tech-savvy folks checked the coding for greenday.com for updates?
zeldachick14 Posted September 5, 2016 Posted September 5, 2016 God dammit i have school tomorrow! I can't tune in to the radio station. And I'm worried i won't get tickets in time if they go on sale.

Paola17 Posted September 5, 2016 Posted September 5, 2016 Wait, didn't the Detroit station say there were announcing their news at 7am? Isn't that Eastern time? (unless it's completely unrelated)
Joe K Posted September 5, 2016 Posted September 5, 2016 I know I asked this before, but when will the first radio stations announce something? what time?

Of course I do remember that, but that's not what I meant. I just said it could be unusual to announce them on the exact same day. When I remember correctly, these two shows also weren't announced the same day Rock am See was. But we will see, I hope we'll get headline show dates soon as well.

Billie Hoe Posted September 5, 2016 Posted September 5, 2016 I checked greenday.com's source code and tried several key words such as "tour" or "california" or "usa" or "germany" but found nothing. Except for a list of every country which got me incredibly excited for a second until I realised they're not tour dates but a list of countries to select. Bummer. Maybe nothing is coming tomorrow or they learned from their previous mistakes. They probably know now how thirsty we are for any kind of information and they don't want to risk losing 4 years worth of posts again in an attempt to undo their fuck-up

Then the two dates were announced and I went to Mönchengladbach as well. If the shows had been announced on the same day as Rock am See, I would've probably gone to the two headline dates and not the festival. We will see. I'm very curious to see what will happen tomorrow.
