JOE THE X-KID Posted May 17, 2016 Posted May 17, 2016 Ive only recently just realised how powerful Whatshername is. Cut deeps man.
Hero_Of_The_Hour Posted May 17, 2016 Posted May 17, 2016 Yeah Whatsername is powerful and "lump in the throat" forming every time. I also love She's A Rebel. Sounds great and has that wonderful line "And she's holding on my heart like a handgrenade" which also happens to be the depicted in the iconic album artwork. It's awesome. What a powerful statement. The feeling that your heart is literally going to explode.

I'd say that's part of the appeal of it. It's very understated, and you've really got to get into it to before it has much meaning. I also think it's one of the best examples of the music fitting the lyrics there is.
JOE THE X-KID Posted May 18, 2016 Posted May 18, 2016 I think the only other song that compares is Fuck Time

The lyrics are poignant, the music supports the lyrics, the vocals are perfect, the structure, the instrumentation, everything. I think it really is their best song.

Brooklyn Baby Posted May 19, 2016 Posted May 19, 2016 Going to Pasalacqua. I like it so much that it made it onto my massively gay love song playlist I listen to when I miss my boyfriend

unextraordinarygirl Posted May 19, 2016 Posted May 19, 2016 I love Whatsername, that song tears me up every time. It's such an emotional and powerful song. I've never really thought of When I Come Around as a love song, but I suppose in a way it is.
yodrann Posted May 19, 2016 Posted May 19, 2016 F.O.D really means something to me But I would also consider Panic Song as a good one
YoungBlood Posted May 19, 2016 Author Posted May 19, 2016 Westbound sign is a really good one too - hopefully it will get played live someday soon !
Chin for a Day Posted May 19, 2016 Posted May 19, 2016 Church on Sunday, WICA and Whatsername are my favorite relationship songs. But I also really love Fell For You, it is just so much fun.

It's a fun song and it has a similar feel to it as his early love songs, a kind of naive, eager kind of love - not the realistic relationship stuff like Church on Sunday or more serious insight into the relationship as in WICA. It's just as good and fun withought being sappy. I'm still not sure how I feel about the line about pissing a bed, though. Not that I have a problem with it but wtf? I always have to chuckle at it.
DookieLukie Posted May 19, 2016 Posted May 19, 2016 Whatsername doesn't really hit me emotionally, but musically it's a very well-made song. Shows a lot of talent.
PursuitOfEpicness Posted May 19, 2016 Posted May 19, 2016 I like She a lot, he's trying to make her feel important almost, it's really powerful. I like 2000 Light Years Away because it's really catchy musically, it's just pretty darn cute.
PurpleIron1039 Posted May 22, 2016 Posted May 22, 2016 I like Only of You, Dry Ice, The Judge's Daughter, Whatsername, Scattered, Redundant, 2000 Light Years Away, and Church on Sunday the most.
