The Great Saiyaman Posted March 26, 2016 Posted March 26, 2016 If it's because of Trump then I hope RATM and SOAD will also be charting soon!

GenXIdiot Posted March 26, 2016 Posted March 26, 2016 Also, vinyl is making a comeback. I bought American Idiot on vinyl last month and it is GLORIOUS on the record player. So maybe sales include 2nd copies on vinyl. It really is one of the best albums, ever, by anyone.
Siddharth_471 Posted March 27, 2016 Posted March 27, 2016 Sure it will be somewhat based more on politics but I don't think from top to bottom it will be about bashing Trump because chances are less of him becoming president. Like during AI it got more vibe after Bush again became the president. Geezer can be a strong point though. 21 hours ago, Vic_Rattlehead said: Fucking hell, not to make this a political thread, but fucking hell, if you really think that comparison holds ANY water, you're an idiot. Peace Logic sells........... But who's buying? (this one's for your username )

Well it's not about it being big enough to boost sales of AI but it is surely helping Billie (hence, Green Day) to come in light.

I don't think many people who will watch Geezer will not have heard of Billie Joe at any time in the past. I also definitely don't think that many people will be interested enough in checking out Billie Joe's music merely after seeing him perform in a movie. And even if so, why would people then all buy American Idiot in particular, and not Dookie, arguably the more historically important album, or the trilogy, their most recent works.
BilIie Joe Armstrong Posted March 27, 2016 Posted March 27, 2016 I doubt this, I haven't read a word about that movie outside GDC/fandom.
inthehallwaynow Posted March 27, 2016 Posted March 27, 2016 Its happening because Billy is doing cute things on his instagram thats probably definitely it...

American Idiot, Jesus of Suburbia, Holiday, Broken Dreams and Wake Me Up have already been released, so here's my pick for secondary singles: 1. Give Me Novacaine 2. Letterbomb 3. Whatshername 4. St. Jimmy 5. Extraordinary Girl The first time around they released singles like this: Fast song, slow song, fast, slow then fast. So this time they do the reverse. It was tough figuring out which Idiot tracks to leave out because the whole album is amazing. But "Are We the Waiting" is more of an intro, so it didn't make the cut. "She's a Rebel" seems to be the least-liked song and "Homecoming", while amazing, would end up like "Jesus" ; Butchered to a 5 minute version and still getting no spins on the radio. Was that a successful use of a semicolon? This is the internet, who cares?
fukingcounterstrike Posted March 28, 2016 Posted March 28, 2016 how pathetic must the charts be right now, fuck sake
Cruise Posted March 28, 2016 Posted March 28, 2016 If the album is getting extra radio play could it be possible that Reprise is paying for the increased plays to get Green Day back into people's heads, as they get ready to announce the new album and they chose AI due to all the drama with Trump.
That Dude Posted March 29, 2016 Posted March 29, 2016 Has a band ever went back and promoted an older album? To my knowledge it's never happened. But this album is deserving for some more attention. It's American frickin' Idiot!

In fact, most people are quite the opposite and probably wouldn't find this album from over 10 years ago being promoted today all that appealing. There's a reason no one's done that.
