XxXxXxXxX Posted January 31, 2016 Posted January 31, 2016 I'll be honest... not really a fan of brutal love as their closer. I definately prefer Good Riddance... as as for other songs they will probably keep... They will probably keep a fair amount of Dookie (basket case, long view. She. When I come around, welcome to paradise) king for a day is popular, wish they would play brain stew american idiot, jesus of suburbia, boulevard of broken dreams, wake me up when September ends, letter bomb, st Jimmy wish they would play 21 guns more, know your enemy they will definately keep. 99 revolutions...
ZSebs Posted January 31, 2016 Posted January 31, 2016 I liked their combo of American Idiot and 99 Revolutions when they played festivals the summer before the trilogy was released, so that would be cool if they did it again. Also, and this is going to be a bit crazy, but I think it would be interesting to see Jesus of Suburbia replaced with Dirty Rotten Bastards. Don't get me wrong, JOS is fantastic, but they manage to make that song like 11 minutes long and it just feels dragged out at points.
SanderNMTTD Posted January 31, 2016 Posted January 31, 2016 Personally, i love the trilogy, but i dont think it will come many trilogy songs...

For it to be good you really need the crowd to know the song, but when I saw them next to no one knew it, and it really seemed out of place. Least you got it - the brisbane crowd stood there expecting the 3 hr set & they started pulling the stage down?

You had We Are The Champions instead. I will forever be jealous. Going by setlist.fm though the only differences are covers (which may just not be been updated for Bris), the brutal love / WATC switch and Syd got Waiting (which I am also over the moon about).

I still had adelaide & perth to go.

But Brutal Love is a massive kick right in the feels, especially when you realize it's a song about the relationship between the band and their fans. Is it????
JardyOfSuburbia Posted January 31, 2016 Posted January 31, 2016 Jesus of Suburbia does make for an awesome closer too, if that became the new norm. I think the problem is that they did Good Riddance for so long that anything other than that feels like we are "missing something". And it's so awesome to see an audience go from a "balls to the walls" mentality to standing still and singing along to an acoustic ballad. It's what makes Green Day so great. The ability to rock an arena and hold that arena together for an intimate moment during an acoustic jam.

That's my reason to prefer brutal love as a closer as the whole band is on stage & that it is sexy as hell. 7 minutes ago, courtneyevon said: Is it???? They've been closing on a slow song for nearly 20 years. When they closed with JOS in Cleveland it was a massive let-down. The slow song at the end is expected after doing it for 20 years, and it's pretty much necessary (in my opinion) to make a show feel complete. 14 minutes ago, courtneyevon said: Is it???? think about that theory, listen to the song, and report back. sharon mitchell Posted January 31, 2016 Posted January 31, 2016 I don't care, to be honest. I just want to see them live again. They played a ton of tracks from my 'need to hear live' list in Cleveland, and I would love them to do an album in full, like they did with Dookie in 2012 (Nimrod or Insomniac, please!!!!), but really, anything. They'll keep the real classics, I would like them to drop KFAD and put in two other songs to replace it, and they should not ignore the Trilogy (which I loved). To be fair, I would be happy to hear them sing the telephone directory right now.
Cade Posted January 31, 2016 Posted January 31, 2016 Would love to have Welcome to Paradise as an opener, seen it 3/4 times at small shows and it's perfect. Sort of sick of 99 Rev. Would rather have WTP open the set and have them close main set with 99 rev. Also feel like the acoustic encore needs to come back. Would love encore to be American Idiot. JOS, +1? and then encore of September, Redundant, Good Riddence.
Maddie86 Posted February 1, 2016 Posted February 1, 2016 i miss when billie would play good riddance on an electric at the live shows. also, i wish they would play something other than geek stink breath from insomniac. i like geek stink breath but i'd much rather hear armitage shanks, stuck with me, 86, jaded, etc
DookieLukie Posted February 1, 2016 Posted February 1, 2016 All I want out of the next tour is longer setlists and more diverse setlists. Sure, play the main hits, but mix up the rest, throw in some acoustic stuff. I don't even mind if they keep King for a Day; it's kind of fun when you're actually there.
SomeNimrod97 Posted February 1, 2016 Posted February 1, 2016 I think they should play a few more tracks from Insomniac. Just imagine Panic Song as an opener and then they play a few new songs of similar tempo.
Todd Posted February 1, 2016 Posted February 1, 2016 I'm hoping they keep Private Ale and Stuart & the Ave in their setlists! Also hoping they bring back Road to Acceptance

I was tired as fuck when they started playing it (I was actually standing with @wood feeling pretty exhausted) but when they started playing that I went down on the floor again because it was so energetic and AMAZING.
dallasthemenace Posted February 1, 2016 Posted February 1, 2016 as long as the political climate stays in the realm it currently is, i think 99 rev. has a decent shot of staying a regular occurring tune, probably not nightly by any means. as for the rest of the trilogy, let yourself go has the energy to also remain a staple...otherwise, i dont see too many trilogy tunes sticking around. oh, and fuck time. that aint going nowhere.
okotavio Posted February 1, 2016 Posted February 1, 2016 I really wish they would play BlvdOBD with the original intro like they did back in 04-05. It was way stronger. As much as I loved Brutal Love on the setlist I don't see them playing it ever again. I guess 99 Rev (because someone thinks it's his greatest song ever), Stay The Night (it's great live!) and Let Yourself Go (which I wish he would play with a guitar again) will survive from the trilogy. Although I wish they should keep X-Kid and Stray Heart around. And why did they simply kill 21 Guns? I'm not a big fan of it but it was their last ~big hit... Not saying they should play it, but if they kept KYE (they were supposed to play 21stCB for the first time since the album's tour on that storm gig, weren't they? I think It was on the setlist) Anyway, unfortunately I expect the same setlists structure all over again: New song opening - KYE - couple new songs - the same AI songs - the same older songs + 2 or 3 old songs they play from time to time - KFAD 10 minutes - new song (probably a ballad, if there's) - Minority - AI encore - closing (Good Riddance or new song)
PurpleIron1039 Posted February 1, 2016 Posted February 1, 2016 I want them to throw in some more 1039SOSH stuff, especially Disappearing Boy or I Was There.
kristóf Posted February 1, 2016 Posted February 1, 2016 I'm 100% sure they will play 99 Revolutions. Billie Joe is in love with that song, once he said he thinks thats one of his best songs ever (lol). Also, they might play Stay The Night, but thats all. The other 4-5 will be replaced with new material. Also, i don't think Murder City and Letterbomb will be played frequently. They always play 5-7 songs from their new albums.
inthehallwaynow Posted February 1, 2016 Posted February 1, 2016 The day I hear blood sex and booze or Misery from start to finish full band is the day my setlist is real
Guest Posted February 1, 2016 Posted February 1, 2016 Four new songs, seven songs from AI, two songs from the Shitrilogy, two songs from 21CB, four songs from Dookie, six other pre-AI hits, a couple of deep cuts, King For A Day, Minority, Good Riddance
YoungBlood Posted February 1, 2016 Posted February 1, 2016 Anyone a fan of Homecoming to replace JOB ?
