UNICORN VOMIT Posted July 21, 2016 Posted July 21, 2016 Is there a schedule of performers posted close to the date?

I feel like Green Day would be very out of place there. I could be wrong, I rarely watch the VMA's
UNICORN VOMIT Posted July 21, 2016 Posted July 21, 2016 Did BJ post an instagram about the VMAs having no rock groups or what was that something else?

okotavio Posted July 21, 2016 Posted July 21, 2016 I've read somewhere that Katy Perry is rumoured to play her new single this year -- nothing else about any performers around the web I guess. Only thing I remember is that back in 2012 Green Day performed a week after Billie got hospitalized on Europe. They didn't cancel it so I guess it was still a big deal for their promotion.
UNICORN VOMIT Posted July 21, 2016 Posted July 21, 2016 They are keeping it so under wraps this would be very exciting if they did it this way. http://www.nme.com/news/green-day/87980 So he did.

sara_gd Posted July 21, 2016 Posted July 21, 2016 Does anyone know if there's a day of the week that's more likely for an announcement? Based on the market/other bands, not random guessing. Yesterday MCR announced that something will be happening in 9/23 related to the 10th anniversary of one of their albums. I don't know if Wednesdays are common? I suppose it has to be a weekday (not weekend).

Given the chance of a single being released with the album announcement, as has been happening more regularly in the rock scene recently, an announcement is more likely to be made on a Friday. That said, Green Day aren't exactly known for playing by the rules.

That's if an announcement even comes at the same time as a single, which, though now the norm, wouldn't be surprising if it didn't happen. I agree that an announcement can come at any time. Edit: Looking at Deftones, probably the most comparable artist with new music on Reprise records, they released neither of their 2 new singles this year on a Friday. This reinforces @WhiteTim's point that a single could come out on any day, and thus an announcement, even if accompanied by a single, could come out on any day. A lot of bands currently are making pre announcements i.e. Saying 'hey check out our Facebook/Twitter/Instagram/YouTube/website at 7pm tonight for a big announcement'. Wouldn't be surprised if Green Day took that route, especially since the announcement isn't coming out of nowhere already. Maybe a video teaser on Instagram, which seems to be their preferred platform, giving a snippet of a single and some dates/info.
