Maybe because of his look and all the things he's been posting on Instagram. There are many political/social issues he's worried about. Absolutely agree, now that we've seen the style. We might be getting another concept album, even. I'd say his style "destroyed the term pop-punk" already. He's going hard core.
XxXxXxXxX Posted July 9, 2016 Posted July 9, 2016 So I was thinking a little bit... Billie is all dressed up, but why? I honestly couldn't think of a valid reason to be dressed up in the studio... Photoshoots with the band don't happen in studios (normally), Music videos aren't recorded in the studio (normally). But why in the studio? A photoshoot for a magazine interview. It makes perfect sense. We might be getting an announcement soon.
Raven93 Posted July 9, 2016 Posted July 9, 2016 Could this be a photoshoot for Rolling Stone ? They seem to go to them first when talking about a new album or what they are working on ?

Now that he's an adult who has really lived and suffered, that edge is going to be authentic as hell, not kind of forced and juvenile like in Insomniac. Not necessarily the song construction of Insomniac, either. Many songs on Insomniac are just boring to me. And his singing is bad on Insomniac, lol. OK, I don't see the edge on Insomniac, to me it was them trying too hard to say they are still punk.
ozoneplayer Posted July 9, 2016 Author Posted July 9, 2016 If the new album even vaguely resembles Insomniac, then I will lose my shit. Although I'd still really like something in the vein of Warning.

XxXxXxXxX Posted July 9, 2016 Posted July 9, 2016 My question is: IF it was a Rolling Stone interview, when will that interview be published? EDIT: Just more reason why it would be a rolling stone interview. Coming off a 3 year break and not the best reviews Green Day needs good publicity. Rolling Stone has lots of readers and can easily put a good word out for Green Day. A Rolling Stone Q and A is literally the best way to announce the new album. Im sure Green Days management has a good relationship with them. If Green Day were to announce it themselves or any other way it won't get as noticed and it might have mixed opinions.
unextraordinarygirl Posted July 9, 2016 Posted July 9, 2016 I just have a feeling that this new album is gonna be a kick ass punk record and I'm so ready for that!

They were actually pissed of because people were calling them sell outs. It's not their best album but it's still pretty good. Because I was around when it first came out and it was unbelievable disappointing to me. I never said I didn't like it, but coming right after the success of Dookie it seemed forced then and it still feels forced.

Everybody keep an eye out for the next 2 or 3 issues. Any of them could be the one we get the news from!!!! Either that or check out Alternative Press magazine.
Raven93 Posted July 9, 2016 Posted July 9, 2016 I want something close to nimrod era sound with political themes throughout the record... Don't know why but I just do ?✌?️

Sanity Loan Posted July 9, 2016 Posted July 9, 2016 The way Billie is dressed in the photo is how the band has looked 98% of the time the past 12 years. I can't argue that it means we know what the style of the album will be like.
That Dude Posted July 9, 2016 Posted July 9, 2016 What if the new album was titled Green Day Authority? Our collective brain would pop. or.... Green Day / Black Night or My Old Haunt (and is 60 minutes of Billie and Lady Cobra battling rapping.) So many questions! It's cool that the album is so under wraps, but I wish we had something other than 193 pages of us taking stabs in the dark. Oh, there's another album title right there.

KGLWW Posted July 9, 2016 Posted July 9, 2016 I believe they tried to add some little things from Nimrod, Warning to 21CB, but it didn't really work. It just came out as a rehash of AI. I think this new album could be a proper follow-up to AI with elements from Nimrod, warning and C&V but be new and fresh at the same time, furthering and evolving their sound instead of going backwards like with 21CB and the trilogy

yodrann Posted July 9, 2016 Posted July 9, 2016 All I want is a new album, whatever its style is. They could do an album full of Bieber's covers I would buy it anyway. So it doesn't matter guessing their style to me. By the way, it looks llike they are done with the studio which is nice. But this topic doesn't seem relevant anymore if it's the case ^^'

localinsomniac Posted July 9, 2016 Posted July 9, 2016 The United States is an awful, toxic place. Never have I wanted to see that sentiment expressed in new songs more than I do right now.

The only things we've heard from the album so far were from Billie's Instagram video, such as Tré hitting that metal pan thing or that split second of guitar at the end. I thought by now we'd have some song titles.
