Somebody has surely brought it up in this thread at some point already, but I would love to see them play with odd time signatures on this next album. Something besides a standard 4/4 or 3/4 waltz.  They hinted at it on 21CB with Before the Lobotomy. More of that, please.

Something in 5/4, 7/4, 11/4 would be crazy from Green Day and pretty awesome.

This is true, but still pretty "safe," for lack of a better word. But BtL is either 7/4 or 7/8 in the choruses. That's outside the box for them!

I suspect something to that tune will come around July 2nd, because 1. it's a Friday and announcements and singles are common on Fridays and 2. it's the Independence Day weekend for all you yanks.

Well let's think back to 2004. At this rate, I guess we'll get a new single in late August, September at the latest. Back in 2004, the American Idiot single came out in late August. Does anyone remember when the American Idiot single was announced?

I don't think they're even done with recording. Sum is releasing album in October and they announced the album two weeks ago and we knew about it couple of months before. If Green Day releases anything before spring next year it would be a surprise.

I still think they're keeping it secret and release it as a surprise. They would prefer fall because they have better chances to sell before Christmas.

Or is it plausible to assume they would go for a April/May release next year, so they can await the elections and maybe form the album according to those results?

Back with 21CB they mentioned in an interview that the album could have become much darker if Obama wouldn't have won the elections.

If they do that the album will be lame. This fake "I hate politics" is really lame. It only works because fans are usually sheeps who agree with everything a random band says.

Well I do partly agree with that. If things don't come naturally, they shouldn't come at all.
