Or maybe it's a "I'm making this joke myself before someone else does it" thing. I kinda admire him for that, though. It's pretty brave either way.

I guess. He was already being lighthearted about it in his Jeff Matika interview a few months after it happened though, I think he's just over it and someone who's able to make a joke at his own expense.

Yeah I didn't think it was sad, maybe he said it so others didn't to some extent but I agree with Hermione, I just thought "that's cool, he can laugh about it now".

It was the one with Jeff interviewing Billie. Jeff started the interview by saying something like "we'll start with a light hearted question, how's sobriety?" and Billie laughed at the joke, said things were good and went on with the interview. Definitely a 'mentioning it is no big deal and I don't mind laughing about it' vibe already, and this was in mid 2013.

I don't think the iHeart joke is even remotely sad.  If he can personally joke about it it means he has moved on.  He fucked up, he knows it and he can't change it.  But, he can learn from it and move on.  It appears he has.

It is at least a different song, Panic Song.   

 

And just to agree with someone, I also like 99 Revolutions.  It is not the best song he has every written, but it has energy.  I didn't see the 99 Rev tour, but from the videos I've seen it looks like a good opener.

Wow I didn't even get the joke. i just thought since he said 30 seconds first that a slough of 1 minute videos would be a hassle to go through and he was like i may be getting in over my head which then made him chuckle. if it wasn't fer you smart people I would have glossed over it completely good eyes!

Or consider that it's from a new song. As far as we know it's just an instrumental interlude they did to link When I Come Around and Basket Case. Nothing more than that. But it's definitely not Panic Song.

No it wasn't, they played it at the house of blues too and people definitely thought it was about to be a new song. It was closer to the static age than panic song and  The one before st jimmy and jaded is a lot closer to panic song.

I disagree.  I heard it and the first thing I thought was OMG they are playing Panic Song.  I know others said the same thing.

I think it sounds more like a mix of the instrumental fuzz ending to one of the dookie demos and the intro to stay the night. But yeah I thought they were playing panic song when i first heard it. But doubt it's part of a brand new song.
